which be better a hx35 or 16g turbo..

You could find a happy medium by running the EVO III 16g with the larger FP 8cm turbine housing. This would give you some more top end to play with :D You can also upgrade the turbine completely and go with the MHI TD06 or TD06H inside the 8cm housing.

    Hx40 pro Slow Spool

There are several factors that can contribute to a slow spooling turbo. The BEP DSM bolt-on turbine housing should hit 20+ PSI by 5000 RPM with the HX40 Pro no problem. Here are a few things to check:I know you said you did a boost leak test, but I would try it again with the engine in 4...

What can cause rod knock in 5 miles?

Sorry to hear about your misfortunes. Another thing is that the bearings could have been installed improperly. Each crank bearing has two sections, each different. The bottom half with an oil hole, the top half without. If the shop installed the wrong two half's, each WITHOUT an oil hole...

HX users, let's see your 02 housing

The VBand on my HX40 sitting here in front of me at work measures 3.999" at the largest OD of the actual VBand mating flange. The exit at the turbine housing is 2.585", and then tapers to that 3.999" measurement. What I'm going to do is cut off the factory VBand section, and weld on my own...

    A/f stuck lean then rich

It appears your gague is a NARROWBAND O2 sensor gague, which displays the AFR value the factory narrowband O2 sensor is indicating. It oscillates between rich and lean because the car's ECU uses this sensors' information to fuel the car in its "closed loop" portion of the fuel curve. This is...

Thinking about going from Evo VIII to 2G GSX. What are your thoughts...

To me it would all depend on my overall goals for the vehicle. Is this something you plan on keeping for an extended period of time, or is this your only vehicle ie. DD?If you plan on auto-x or road racing, I would stick with the EVO, as its an easier car to click off faster times, meaning it...

    508hp/455tq HX35 dyno

I second this! I personally think the HX35 platform will be VERY competitive in road race, preferably with a proper twin scroll setup, and possibly that progressive "spool-up" device I've seen lurking in this forum :sneaky:. Either way, put the HOLSET in ROAD RACE! :D

I'm about to install my HX40 Pro and I love the idea of a by-passed oil feed line, but I have one question that might help clear things up in my head. Injector resistor question (less resistor with higher resistance injectors)

The resistance of your injector + resistor pack determines the amount of current your injector driver will consume. With higher the current, the injector will open faster (more energy per unit time), however you are now running the injectors on the ragged edge of what the factory drivers can...

    AeroChargers?

Another huge benefit for using these turbos on snowmobilles, ATV's and such is that they have a SEALED center section, meaning you don't plub oil or coolant to this turbo! This makes it so that you can mount the turbo any way you please. If you think about it, a turbo snomobille is in a...

Turboed 5-8psi, Can't use more than half gas pedal? Injectors? MAP?

My mistake, by "EGT" I meant "EGR". Its common to hook extra sensors up to the stock ECU using this input, most common with DSMLink users. If your hooking a different then stock sensor up, in some cases, depending on the sensor you use, you need to buffer the signal (mostly sensors with low...

Turboed 5-8psi, Can't use more than half gas pedal? Injectors? MAP?

That 12-pin chip is an operational amplifier, the round ceramic disk is a capacitor and the last small thing is a diode. It looks like they used it as a "high impedance buffer" to make the MAP sensor output signal "high impedance". This is usually done for an ECU analog input that has low...

    oil cooler lines filtered?

The outlet of oil filter goes to the temperature by-pass, which lets oil run through the cooler, or not, based on the oil temp. So yes, the oil cooler is fed with filtered oil.RRE has an excellent illustration of this: http://www.roadraceengineering.com/eclipsetech/turbooilsupplysource.jpg
