its the ### ass ring that mitsu puts in there to center the turbo and the manifold. you dont need it, the bolts do it and its not that hard to center it w/o the ring. So take it out.

I would find a 2.4l out of a dodge intrepid, and turbo-charge that. Buy good pistons, and rods and you should be good to go. 3k worth of motor stuff would make a fine street machine. I would have jumped on it for $150.
is it a auto for 5 speed?......very possible it could be crankwalk, the crank sensor is a symptom of crankwalk. He may be telling you that to get some buisness. You can check crankshaft endplay yourself. you can even pull the crank sensor and look and see if its broken.
also, make sure you are getting plenty of manifold vacume to the BOV. if your guage shows 18, then the bov should be getting 18 as well. heres a thought, sell the greddy bov, and buy a 1g bov, pocket the money and put it in another mod.
Does it black smoke when it bogs?. Fix the boost leak before you make any AFC adjustments. When u find the boost leak, your afc will be to lean and you could risk internal engine damage.
