    2G Injen Intake

Yea, I'm glad they jumped through the hoops... one of these days I may have to just suck it up and buy one new... probably should just to thank them for their efforts, but for now, I just keep the stock parts around (who am I kidding, neither car runs, so no reason to worry about smog yet :p)

Somewhere along the lines I found an image of the Injen CARB sticker but never got around to making my own functional sticker out of it.

    2G Injen Intake

For $20, I don't suppose that it came with a CARB sticker? I have a chinese knock off that I picked up for $40 like 8 years ago, but good ol' CA doesn't really care if it's functionally identical, no CARB sticker = failed inspection. I would offer to measure mine, but as a knockoff, it's...

    2G Cost of a used running 4g63?

That's about right, and 4g64 in the NT spyder... but Mitsubishi built other cars... and Hyundais used mitsu motors for a while also, so you'll see them in various configurations... the 4g63 is kinda like Mitsibishi's version of the Chevy small block - around for years in a bunch of different...

WTB My old '97 GST Spyder (Ontario)

Oh, I lived where it was snowy and cold for most of my youth, just at the snowline of the sierra foothills, about an hour and a half from Tahoe... fortunately, California uses sand instead of salt so there isn't as much of a rust problem... And not *nearly* as cold as it gets way up north ;)

WTB My old '97 GST Spyder (Ontario)

Another fun one was the water leaks on the corners of the windshield... I had a buddy that would take hard left turns in his GS when it was raining and dump a stream of water in his passenger's lap. :DThat being said, I too love the Spyder. My dream is still an AWD Spyder, and I have all the...

In case not everyone has seen the Evo concept abomination

I did just want to throw this out there, because the thread has kinda gone wonky.WHAT THE HELL MITSUBISHI! I understand they want to call this the "evolution" of the automobile.... blah blah blah... But someone in marketing should be fired. The EVO name is taken, and to give it to anything...

In case not everyone has seen the Evo concept abomination

*shrugs* Believe it if you want; As a person that has spent time in the automotive field, I think your view may be biased. As someone that doesn't pigeonhole himself, most people I've known (outside the enthusiasts) would love to enjoy the convenience that an electric car offers. Most people in...

    2gNT.com member closing?

Yea - I mean, for users, I would expect you could assign a new user account (like 2GNTcom) as the poster, but I totally get what you're saying. This would really be a laborious task, with someone having to really go through and validate all the post data before merging.Maybe all the non-turbo...

    2gNT.com member closing?

One would wonder if just a dump of the database would be sufficient to write a script that converts the data from their system to a format that could be ingested by this forum... but it would certainly be a project nonetheless. And one would also wonder how much of the info isn't already here -...

    Storing an engine

THIS.WD-40 is not a lubricant, it is a penetrant with water-displacing properties - really good at cleaning all that oil and grease off, and great if you get water in your distributor (not really a DSM issue... :D), but it doesn't adhere, and when you're done, the block is bare. Use it as a...

In case not everyone has seen the Evo concept abomination

Basically what you're describing is a perpetual motion machine. Physics says these are impossible. What most electric drive cars do have though is regenerative breaking - when you let off the accelerator, or press the brakes, depending on the mode (I like driving in "L" which is akin to 1 pedal...

In case not everyone has seen the Evo concept abomination

This thread has a lot of emotion, but the one thing that I think is being missed is that we're a unique market segment. Car enthusiasts are not in the majority, and a lot of people don't really give a shit what powers their car, as long as when they get in and turn it on, it takes them where...

WTB My old '97 GST Spyder (Ontario)

Well, the good news is that the issue you describe with the roof is not unique :DIt's actually interesting, my love affair for DSMs started out with a '97 Spyder GS-T with the busted center bar in the roof too (had to reach back and give it a push to align it when opening the roof!)That car...

    1g innards into 2g housing

I will have to go back and read the comments, but I just wanted to throw out there, I had a '90s Galant VR4 transmission and transplanted it into a '95 GSX tranny case - because of the design of the VR4 trans, part of the housing from the vr4 had to be used with part of the housing from the GSX...

Who's working on what in the Sac area?

I mean, yea, and I guess part of the problem is my fault that I have stuff along the walls of my garage, so I can't open the doors either :D At least this garage theoretically holds 2 cars. ;)I had another '95 GSX for a very long time (what can I say, I hoard the AWDs, and all of mine were...

To whom it may (or not) concern...

Welcome back! I just recently returned from years of radio silence as well. I'd bet there's probably a good few of us just hanging on to our cars for the right time to get back to work on them. At least I hope there is :)
  29. FireyIce01

Who's working on what in the Sac area?

Been sitting on a couple few AWDs for years while life took over. I'm gonna be pulling motors and start rebuilding, but it probably won't happen until the beginning of the year. Could certainly use any help and expertise that's around... would also be awesome if someone had a shop with space to...

    Electric Turbos!

I think that the word turbo is the problem. This is essentially an electric paxton, where the power isn't being drawn off the motor when it's running like a belt-drive would... It just made me laugh a little, because I remember it being an idea people tossed around 15 years ago that's actually...

    Electric Turbos!

Yea, I don't know about that... I was impressed by the gains with just 5lbs of boost on something that could basically be bolted onto the intake, but the future is electric drive. I just don't know though... my eclipse was just so exhilarating to drive, and my Bolt is sporty and fun, but just...

    2G vs 1G!

I'd be curious if y'all are taking into account the difference in headroom for a 2g with a sunroof vs. without. It's about an extra 2-3" without a sunroof. I love them both for different reasons; For me, the gold standard being a 2gb with a 6bolt swap.
  36. FireyIce01

Any place for a broke ass fool to store cars?

Okay, I don't really expect much from this, but it never hurts to ask.I've got three 1995 AWD DSMs. None of them have sun roofs. One is a talon and its an automatic. None of them run, but 2 are complete cars (1 of eclipses is 100% stock!!! The talon has small upgrades) and the third is kinda...

Smog shops that look past the FMIC? Moving to Roseville soon

I didn't have any problems with a 14b on my 2G... it really depends on how knowledgable the smog guy is to DSMs, because if they don't know the car, a turbo looks like a turbo :)

    I have a sickness...

I mean, it seems like a shame to start picking apart the 2 complete cars, but frankenclipse might have some pounds to shed... what kind of parts are you guys looking for? I'll try and get pictures next time I head up to my dad's place, that's where they're parked right now.
  39. FireyIce01

    I have a sickness...

So, I have a sick obsession with these cars. I really don't know what to do about it.I have three AWD cars - all 1995 models - 2 GSX and 1 Talon. One of the GSX's is a silver, completely stock car. I bought it from the second owner, who remembers when his dad ordered/brought it home in '95...

DSM Take Over Fall Fling CMI

I hate those trees! My dad's cut down like 6 of them on his property (replacing them with sequoias) but I had a buddy park his bug up there for a few weeks, and get a big dent in the fender from a cone like that.
  42. FireyIce01

Anyone what to have a meet?(reno, carson, tahoe)

Might be interested in heading up there. I'm in sac, so when we hit 50, I'd probably split off and head back to the west. I don't know what I'll be doing on the 6th - I get back from a business trip to san jose on the 4th though, and the GSX has been treating me okay, so we'll see.

    diagnostic help

Look into renting an engine hoist, you don't need to buy it, but it will be far safer and will make the job far easier if you have something purpose built. I've also seen people build A-Frames out of steel pipe and hang a come-along from them. That's sorta like what they've got at pick-n-pull.

    Any 98 GSX owners ?

I have a couple '95 AWDs (2 GSX and a TSI AWD) but I'm up here near Sacramento.

    diagnostic help

It is a pain in the ass to get the motor in and out, you got that much right. Mainly because of the tight space they have put it in. I have never pulled the 420a (N/T) as both my projects are AWD Turbos. That being said, I don't believe you need to remove the harmonic balancer to get the belts...
