    Electric Cutout on Stock DP?

McCord Power Plate sells electric cutout actuators for $110...if I were to get a Y fitting welded onto my stock downpipe and fit it with the actuator and then to my stock exhaust, would my performance suffer from the 1/4 in. difference in the stock DP and an aftermarket 2.5 in. one...

    Evo 8 Fuel Pump?

Anyone know if the Evo 8 fuel pump will easily install into a 2g? This pump is rated at only 10 lt/hr less than a a Walbro 190 lph. Seems like it would be good for people running 16gs and looking for a cheap fuel pump upgrade...

    Starion FMIC...the real story?

I have an opportunity to pick up a Starion FMIC for less than $50, and I'm wondering if I will be completely wasting my money. Like you all, I've heard people badmouth these intercoolers, but many of the people who belittle them have never used them directly. There are a few guys on Talk in...

Best Wheels/Tires for Unpaved Road Driving

Steelies are just steel rims with a lot of metal on them (like the spare rim) correct?Where do I find them? I'm having enough trouble just finding stock wheels in my area. Would stock wheels be roughly as good? Seems like they're stronger than most aftermarket wheels, anyway.

Best Wheels/Tires for Unpaved Road Driving

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm thinking stock 16s and 205/55/16 tires might be good enough. Would there be a big advantage in dropping to 15s? Hell, it's got to be better than my 17s with low pros.I guess I have the same question for suspension, because my stock suspension just...

Best Wheels/Tires for Unpaved Road Driving

What wheels/tires (sizes especially) would be best for driving on unpaved roads (gravel, dirt, potholes, etc.)? I want wheels that won't break and tires that won't bubble in the sidewall or blow out easily. Please don't tell me to get a different car or a truck. I already realize that DSMs...

Can I Eliminate Coolant Lines On Evo3

I know of several people running the evoIII without coolant lines. As long as you are religious in allowing your turbo to cool down, you'll be fine. However, there is really no reason to do this if the car is your daily driver.

Turbos Leaking Oil I need help fast

Make sure you have: a) Clean gasket mating surfaces at the turbo and at the oilpan b) Solid gaskets c) Torqued down the bolts enough (it doesn't take much, but this hardware is pretty solid, and mine leaked at the turbo until I gave the bolts another 1/2 turn)

    EVOIII 16g dyno sheets?

    EVOIII 16g dyno sheets?

Well, they're not track cars. The GVR4 is a weekend toy, which will be going to the track soon. ShapeGSX's car is a daily driver. Just because these cars make 400+ whp with 25+ psi spikes doesn't mean that they can't daily drive the cars. Some people have self-control over the throttle...

Actually, now that you mention that, I just switched boost gauges with a buddy (put in a 30-30 instead of a 30-20), and both autometers read the same vac.One thing I did notice was that on both of our cars the plastic boost gauge line was slightly kinked near the fitting it screws into. His...

    Idle inconsistency with SAFC

I'm in the exactly opposite boat. When I start my car cold it idles very rough for the first 5 minutes. After that, everything is smooth. I personally believe that as long as your fuel trims are in the range that the ecu can compensate for, there's no need to take a ton of fuel away to get...

I know this isn't a huge deal, but my vac is lower than it supposedly should be. I have no boost leaks (fixed the last one 2 days ago). I suppose it could be a kink in my boost gauge line.At 850rpm idle, I have only 14-15 in.hg. at startup, and 16 when warm. When I rev the car and hold it...

Need FMIC on 96 Gst How can I keep my Fogs?

You can almost do it with JR's cores, I think. The problem I ran into is that his cores are just too wide. You'll need an IC with rear facing or offset inlets, so the piping can be run below the fogs. Then it's just a matter of finding a core that will fit between two foglights bolted down.

What are your low and high throttle points at? (I assume you're tuning with an AFC?) A very common setting is 30% low, 80% high. Anything 0-30% throttle runs on your low throttle settings, anything 80%-100% throttle runs on your high throttle settings, and anything in the midrange runs at a...

    16G..a few questions

It depends on what his stock boost level is. Running a b16g above 15 psi on stock fuel is a bad idea. I ran my EvoIII on Evo8 560s and the stock pump, with good timing at 20 psi in the winter (in Virginia). In the summer, I would have gotten pulled timing like crazy though. After the smic...

How much power with 14b and these mods

This is not a question for Turbo System Tech. Considering you can max out 450s on a stock 1g by raising the boost, I would say you won't make much power until you upgrade injectors.

    Serious Boost Problem

No, but make sure your intercooler pipe didn't blow off again. If it did, you should be running very rich and blowing black/gray smoke. Get a new clamp or do whath you have to so that it doesn't blow off again.

    16g turbo selection

There is really not a whole lot of difference between the b16g and s16g--the words big and small are quite deceiving. The Evo16g flows more than either, and is the middle ground between the 16gs and an independent manufacturer's 50 trim (technically, the EvoIII 16g is a 50 trim, but just barely...

I just ordered the 8" core with 2.25" inlets, and I am running basically the same setup (EvoIII16g and 560s). The 8" core is only a few bucks more, and has more room for growing--heck, your turbo and fuel mods might outrun that small core's capabilities right now. Go with the 8".As for...

tuning an evo3 16g with safc help needed

Not exclusively, no. But, larger turbo size, coupled with high boost (in this case, an evo 16g creeping to 20 psi or more) does make you run leaner. You can run into more problems than fuel cut with a 16g.If I were the original poster, I would limit my wot pulls until those injectors are...
