ok, so far ive got most of my probs figured out... now im down to my really high egt's.. i dont have a guage, but my manifold and turbo look like if i used a hammer i could reshape them when i lift my hood after driving around...heres my setup... evo8 560cc injectors.. aeromotive afpr set at...
first off, why would you want to do away with those brakes? they are bigger, run cooler (vented) and provide more balanced braking....but second, to answer your question, yes/and no. you can get evo 8/9 rear calipers/rotors and bolt them straight up, if you have the clearance with your...
got my ms stuff today..... wow, lots to do it looks like! 3.0 board and msI cpu I believe... (got it 2nd hand but nothing is assembled)lots of readign this weekend too! and if you guys could toss some hints my way and help out I am all ears right now.thanks!J
what belt are you using? the 2.4 belt is slightly longer.after setting the timing, did you rotate the engine 6 times and see if the marks still lined up the same as you initially set them?
I know the guy who makes this kit... his name is adam... and he is very knowledgeable about the brake setup, and what its capable of. I do not know if that is who is selling the kit, but the guy who designed it and originally made it work has his $#!t together for lack of a better term.ask...
I dont know if this is common knowledge or not, but the first production runs of the 2g eclipse gsx and talon tsi awd had larger rear rotors that where vented, and the calipers sat a bit taller to compensate. these are a direct swap to the later ones with the solid and smaller rear disc as...
ok, well, I am working on a custom project, and if it works out it will be another TB option for us, with the stronger full shaft instead of a half shaft.basically its a 70 or 75mm (outside measures just under 75mm inside measures 70mm)
from a 1998 ford f250 v8.the exterior looks...
well, I meant I did use it, but I didnt mess with the wiring of it at all. i just left the wiring alone on the tank itself, then used the other end of the harness and spliced it into the wiring from the other harness.if i get a chance to go out to my friends house where i have my car...
Ive done 3 of these conversions now.. (well on dodge avengers, but its still basically the same) but the rear wiring for the fuel gauge... I found its all in the grounds. on my first one, I couldnt get it to work for the longest time, but finally figured out I missed a ground, I just hooked...
is your car an automatic transmission? if so thats where the difference is.. the autos have a different carrier bearing/intermediate shaft...or i guess it could be 97+ had a different setup, I believe the trans, and transfer case are a little different for those years not sure on that though
My friend and I ran into a similar problem when we converted his auto 2g awd to a manual... the brackets for the a/c are different, as well as the intermediate shaft/middle part of the axle.. are either of your parts from an auto? on all that I have worked on, that bolt passes through the a/c...
I have personally put 2 2g heads on 6bolt engines, with ARP studs on both. they will fit but its extremely tight, and takes some serious wiggling to get the head to slide down the studs... its much easier if you drill out the holes just a touch (the alignment pins in the engine line up the...
I have not tried them, but from my readings in various car magazines, they are supposed to be a race only cam... like very lumpy idle, and made for even more top end than the 272's, so not really street friendly.
I used to run the PTT clutch, it was great for quick revving, and light pedal pressure, but they warned me heavily about slipping it too much and getting it hot. it was extremely grabby, but i got used to it and was able to drive on the street.but from the sounds of things, when i get my...
sounds to me like its your rear diff.happened to a friend of mine.. he was driving down the road, started hearing a whining sound, slowly got louder, then his rear wheels locked up.... after a few minutes it cooled down enough he could pull the car into a parking lot, but the car didnt...
trucks like that are very light weight in the rear... it does not take much power to spin up the wheels whenever you want.. especially with a manual trans.and it looks like a mitsu mighty max pickup.. came stock with a 2.4l 4g64 engine.. the guy probably put a dohc head from a 4g63 on it so...
just wanted to give you guys an update on this..the machining work is pretty much done.... cylinder bore size is now 3.445 (87.5mm) looks to be enough material in between the cylinders for the head gasket... thats .040 oversized on the 4g64. guess were gonna find out if its gonna hold, or...
I have a race short block being finished up at a local engine shop, and i am now really scared about it due to my other problems posted in this forum. i just wanted to ask a quick question.is it absolutely needed to have the head bolted down when line honing is performed? i aske because it...
ok, just got off the phone with the guy. I gave him a little more info, and he gave me a little also.I told him before i did anything once i heard the noise i did a compression test.. 1&4 were just over 120, and 2&3 were right about 150... to me that says not good.also when i...
I had this non-turbo block put together for a guys car at a local engine shop.its a 6 bolt, with big rods, and .020 oversized 2g pistons. balance shafts removed, and new topline oil pump.basically I got the engine installed got everything set so the car was running great. took it for...
well, ive got the car idling pretty well, i had to put the fuel at about 0 adjustment, and once i got the BISS in from being way outta wack the idle came down a bit.... now i just gotta get the axles inthere, and get it over to my friends house to leak test the ic pipesj
its a 2g throttle body, and 2g TPS sensor. unhacked MAF. only had the car idling a few times since the install, and I am waiting to get a decent tune to drive to my buddies house and do a boost leak test... im sure there will be a couple of small leaks because i welded up some IC piping and 1...
k here is the setup first,
1998 dodge avenger awd conversion with 2g wiring, and trans/rear end
not my avatar pic.. this one: www.redefinedrides.com/kyles.htmlfresh rebuilt 2.0 1g with stock big rods and .020 mitsu pistons. stock 2g head with cometic hp head gasket and arp head studs...
I thought so too... i wonder if there is a way i can have it tested or something mabye fixed?thanks for the wiring info... i wont likely forget it very soon haha
well, I checked the voltages on another car and found them way different.. the black was a ground... blah blah blah..so i swapped out the ecu and bingo... no more problem. musta been the install :thumb: jk
just a little more info on this..the brown/red wire at the ecu doesnt show any voltage unless the tps is plugged in, then it shows like 5.8 volts or something, when I unplug the harness under the hood, and test the wires, the black wire (I am assuming supplies power instead of ground to...
all right here are the details:its a 1998 dodge avenger, converted to awd with a 1995 eclipse as the donor car. wiring, is all 1995, ECU is 1997,(here are the install pics: http://redefinedrides.com/kyles.htmlits got a 6 bolt 1g engine with a 2g head, 16g turbo, dnp manifold...
alright I am working on this car for a friend, I got a safc installed, and turned the key to the on position to start seting up the safc.... and it shows the tps at 100% with the arrow turned to the up position like RRE says its supposed to. so i checked the sensor wiring with a multimeter, and...
well, I had to shave a few thousandths off with some sand paper, and taper the edge a bit more, but I got the bigger bearing to fit in there. I am guessing the old bearing went out and the balance shaft opened the hole up a bit larger than it was supposed to be...well, its done now and the...
I actually have tried like 4 or 5 different bearings now... from different core engines, and 2brand new sets.the bigger one actually gets somewhat close to fitting, but i know its supposed to be the smaller one.I think I am gonna try to slim down a bigger one slightly and see if I can...
I am just wondering if anybody else has ever run into this problem...I am putting together an engine for a guy that I am doing an awd conversion on his dodge avenger... 4g63 6 bolt originally non turbo block...now I am putting in the balance shaft bearings turned 180 degrees to block off...
I bought my cop setup in pieces. I got the cop's from the junkyard along with the wiring from a 300m. wired it up, and made a cop plate to mount them on out of CF. when my car was running last (its been awhile) I really didnt have any problems with the cop at all. my only problem was tuning...
