Ok, I have a 95 GSX with a 97+ front end conversion. I have a few questions about the fog lights. The bumper currently has no fog lights in it, but I have bought the covers for them. I'm not entirely sure how I am supposed to install them. I know that the screw goes in the top where the little...
Yep wired up correctly. I had old extra plugs laying around so I didn't have to cut my stock harness. And I got this sensor for $20, and I am planning on doing a 6-bolt in the future. Green CAS with harness attached.
My crank sensor went bad (the magnet fell out). I had a friend who sold me this 1g cas, and I had the plugs to wire it in. I already checked for spark. The turns over and will sound like it wants to start, (it'll give the occassional pop or 2) but just does this over and over.
all 2g's have a Cam and a crank sensor. You can swap out a 1g cam sensor, and rig the harness up to send signals to both the cam and the crank plugs.Same as if you were doing a 6-bolt swap.
I installed the new CAS on the car, I get spark and I think it gets some gas but not enough to turn over. Is there anything else I had to do to get this to run? I read magnus's tutorial but it didn't state what to do for a 2g engine.
That car is local (here in louisville). Owner did everything right. A great machine shop did all the work, he assembled the long block and dropped it in. In the time he has had it done (I think its been around 2 years now) never once have I heard about it having a problem. If you would like I...
Yeah, I know to put it at TDC, I was just worried about repositioning the cam gear on the cam.CorrupTTalon- Thats a later 2G head, the 95's have the CAS behind the intake cam.
Thanks, that is what I wanted to know before I took it apart. The timing on my car was off when I got it and a real toolbox had the car, just trying to make sure I put it back together right.
Ok, I think I need to be a little clearer. I am going to be removing the gear and leaving the cam in, correct? And if so, how can I make sure the gear goes back in the exact sam location so my white timing marks still line up correctly?
I've got a slight problem. I picked up my head from the machine shop and they left the CAS off. What's the easiest way to reinstall the sensor without messing with the timing? I read you can just take off the intake cam gear, but the head is still off, and I am worried about messing up the...
Yeah, I redid the timing before I checked the compression. I'm planning on getting the head ported and polished while its out, so getting it milled for the metal HG won't be that big of a deal. Is there anyway to test the valves without taking out the cams?
My car jumped the timing belt a few weeks ago. It wouldn't start, and upon doing a compression test, I found cylinder 2 to have low/zero compression. Figuring it was the valves, I went ahead and pulled the head. Now I can't see any visable damage to any of the valves, is it possible for them to...
I would like to point everyone to this thread-

This guy claims to be a serious road racer, and while he can spend 40K+ on his engine harness, data logging equipment, and fuel management, he doesn't want to spend a few grand for a great...
We made sure the timing marks were all aligned and that all the slack was between the exhaust camshaft, and the crank, we then proceeded to pull the pin on the auto tensioner, and tightened the tensioner pulley slightly.
Thanks man, but I've already seen that. I was hoping maybe someone had any insight relating more toward everything I said, or perhaps something I have overlooked.
Ok, I'm going to start from the beginning. About a month or two ago I had an over heating problem. I replaced the thermostat, radiator cap, & "burped" the system. This took care of it for a little bit. But around 3 weeks ago it started doing it again and it was about this time that I realized I...
Nice looking. Does the JDM have any performance benefits? I thought that they were pretty much the same..... Your in louisville too? I'd like to come see that sometime.
It will be easier to just buy a new aftermarket one. And in most cases (except for the fact that you will loose the signal to your dash speakers) it will sound better than a stocker. Browse around, there are many companies that make the double DIN cassette/CD players still.
Clear? You sure you don't just mean not fogged or yellowed?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7972633412&category=33716Those are just new stock ones. I don't know how they could get any clearer.....
You might already know this, but an A/F gauge is almost totally useless on the stock narrow band O2 sensor. Its pretty much a pretty gauge with lights unless you get a wide band O2.
Twisted a screw & it worked? Which screw did you twist? If it was one of the ones that holds the glass in (basically any screw you can see without taking the glass off) then it had nothing to do with the sun roof closing. I had a very similar problem in my car. Take the glass off (6 screws the...
Overheating QuicklyThere's the link to my thread about it. I am in a 2g but I don't see any differences except perhaps the angle of the thermostat? (Correct me if I am wrong)
Thermo is maybe a $10 dollar, 15 minute change. its in the housing right below the radiator cap. Also have you gotten a new radiator cap? My car was doing something similar to this and it was fixed after I replaced the radiator cap, thermostat, & "burped" the coolant system.
Problem seems to be solved. The burping/replacing of the radiator cap worked. I have driven it several times, and even made sure to get on it a few times to see if it would over heat, and it stayed nice & cool. Coolant levels are good and constant. Thanks guys, you saved me some money!
Well guys I have an update, and a good one at that. I went and bought a new radiator cap today, and I proceeded to burp the car twice. I did it twice because the first time I did it the car began to cool off then all of a sudden jumped back off. The second time I did it the car stayed nice and...
I'm not sure if the temperature drops when the fans come on, I don't have a pocket logger yet ( I know, stupid). It does not over heat at idle. I ran it at idle for about 10 minutes & no over heating. I'm going to replace the radiator cap & burp it tomorrow. Is there anyway to check the water...
Ok guys thanks for the tips. I replaced the thermo over the weekend and still no help. The fans come on & run string. I did notice however that when I test drove it to see if it was going to over heat again, that there was light grey smoke it was giveing over was coming from somewhere underneith...
I discovered my car was over heating yesterday. I'm not talking about it being hot and over heating, but the the needle damn near starts heading toward that H as soon as I get out of the drive way. I have plenty of coolant & I'm not losing any either so I think that rules out a leak somewhere. I...
The car was in an accident and the widshelid broke sending glass on top of the dash board. There is one slice that actually pierced the top of the vinyl (Is it vinyl?) and its about 3/4 of an inch long and deep enough to see the yellowish padding underneith. The rest are just rough scratched...
I just recently acquired a black 2g dash, but there is a few scratches and a slice in the top parts, is there anyway to get these out? I tried searching but did not find any topics on dash repair.
There are several things that could be wrong. First I can't tell, but it sounds like you might have t-ed into the wrong line. Check vfaq.com for the exact location where to tap into. Secondly the Cobalt gauges have an auto-zero function that requires you to allow the gauge to zero out BEFORE the...
The master and slave cylinders went out on my car. I had the car towed and taken to a tranny shop because I didn't have time to mess with it that day. The shop told me it was going to be about $400 to replace them. Am I getting ripped? Every search I did on here said it should only cost between...
This is a great mod! I did it today in about 15 minutes and the differnce in sounds is like night and day. Saved me from either buying a cross-over or a replacement. Is there a tech article on this?
Ok I'm about to change the oil for the first time (on this car) on my 95 GSX. Where's the best place to jack it up with a hydraulic jack to get under there?
I have a sunroof on my 95 GSX, but I have a slight problem. When I open it completly it gets stuck and won't close. Its not the motor, but a little pin in the bracket (I opened it and temporarily fixed it) that keeps the sun roof from closing. This pin refuses to stay in so I've reserved myself...
