I'm happy to hear that you found some of my car changes usefull :D. I notice that most all the pix's in my gallery are gone:confused:. Per Chris, they must have been lost during one of the site changes. I'll try to repost some of the better ones, that showed improvments, soon.Sorry to say...
asian312,Glad to see you've been making it out to the track, lately.:thumb: I hope you've been realy enjoying it!!!!It's all good, even when things don't go as planned.:D
Jake,All I can tell you is that at the time 4/30/03, I got in just under the wire to get mine inspected, and a race log book issued before the cut off date. So the car was able to be grandfathered in. I was using ERW, which was legal at the time. I had worked on the cage for quite some time...
Just a note, so you don't possibly spend money on something you can't use. :)If your going to be racing with NASA make sure, the tubing your cage is made from is DOM (drawn over mandrel) as Chris mentioned above, and not ERW (electric resistant welded).I'm sure there are a number of...
Nice fab work Kyle. Do they seem to be more stable than the old ones? I know I've noticed mine are a little hard to see out of at times, do to vibration.:)
Chris, the pix you linked to, was from several years ago and it was the ABS type edging material. Utilizing a 1 1/2" aluminum angle brace behind it, it worked pretty well, and did not flex too much with speed. The one I now use, also utilizing the 1 1/2" aluminum angle brace, is fiberglass that...
Just a quick note foe NASA PT followers, from the NASA Performance Touring and Super Unlimited (NASA PT and SU) Official National Rules, #28 and #29 under the SUSPENSION/BRAKES/CHASSIS section.28) Metallic or mixed metallic and non-metallic replacement suspension bushings (except for sway...
Sorry, yes, it's a WRX scoop, reversed. I was looking for something that would fit the space, and had a little better chance of taking the heat. I read up on the chemical compound of the WRX scoop and it did have some additives to cope with some heat. The exit for the scoop is a little smaller...
Speaking of which, I remember when I was 10 or so and working at my uncles automotive garage, there was a rather short heavyset gentleman that owned the building, that ran ran crazy 8 races. he was contantly either fixing the existing car or starting over with building a new one.I have...
The car does actually have DSM Tuners stickers on it, they're just not large. They are over the front wheel well. We'll have to talk to Chris about some larger ones, Eh??:D:)
I see you're from Houston, I grew up very close to there. That track with the elevation changes and switch backs was a blast. Let me know if you do come out sometime, we'll get together.:)
I was invited by a neighbor to head out to Irwindale Speedway, for a little circle track race viewing last night. When we got there, they were doing some crazy 8 runs. What I didn't realize for a few minutes was, it was the Figure 8 World Championships. Twenty three cars were competeing in...
Kyle,Sorry to hear you had a few problems with traction and steering. These little things just seem to plague all of us :) . Good luck on your next run at Kruse Auction Park!!!Another nice write up, Kyle.:)
Kyle, also, if you go Greg's rout, and do a turn down, you can probably keep it under the car more, and gain some ground clearance. Mine does drag every once in a while.:)
Kyle,
I'm running a 3" all the way back and out the side, with an RRE shorty glasspack. We did David's car with the same setup, but with no glasspack. I have the 3 bolt connectors to add a second disconnect behind the glasspack in order to replace it with a straight pipe, but I've never...
Chris,I think it just looks like the aluminum goes all the way up tp the FMIC. There looks to be a better picture of it toward the middle bottom of the page here.http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?t=210879&page=12:)
If the car has been run recently in any sanctioned road racing it's probably good to go. You can take a look at what is here,http://www.nasaproracing.com/hpde/index.htmland also look at the HPDE portion of the CCR rules, for NASA.http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf:)
Greg,I think you have seen this set up before. I set this kevlar hose up to run on my car but the red and blue fitting just wouldn't seat with the kevlar hose. I think if I used it, it would need to be swedged on like the other fitting. I had the thermostat housing welded up to a -20...
Greg, the car is definately looking good!!!
Sorry to hear about the rad hose, but glad to see that it's ready for the next round, back at Willow Springs in August. I see from the event results that, after the weekend, you are solidly in 3rd, and only 100 points out of 1st, with 3 more races...
Chris, actually, Ive personally not used this, but it looks to be pretty much accepted, as a way to increase your tire clearance. If you come to the conclusion that rolling your fenders will give you sufficient room for your wheel and tire package, and dont want to go the bat route, I know...
Well for me, at least, it is partialy run what ya brung, but then, I've owned mine probably as long as most anyone on here. I bought my FWD, new in April of 1989:D. I think another reason for sticking with the FWD is because of the work, in the early days, of RRE and guys like Tallini who were...
This sounds like some more increadable track days.:D Great write-up and some really super pictures. Was this a "Mazda Rev It Up" type event? We went to some of those, a couple of years back, when Ginger was with Falken and they were co-sponsors, of those events. They were autocross only...
Kyle,Your very astute, Yes the scoop is a reversed Suby, and I used it because, I had nothing else that would fit that wide of an opening (hole cut for previous scoop). My previous scoop is one of, the one's Greg was speaking of in another thread, regarding a melt down. As a replacenent, I...
Thanks, eclipsegsx1736That sounds interesting, I didn't realize you could utilize the charging aspect with the logger at the same time. I'll look at this more closely. It wouldn't have helped me out of my situation (not accepting code), but it's certainly a good idea for keeping power to the...
I installed a new Megan 1G FWD 3" downpipe at the begining of the year. The fit was good at the housing (I reworked the tail end only to match my 3 bolt set up), and it only has the short step down at the housing end.:)
Congratulations Kyle, that's great. I think your doing a terrific job of keeping on track and super write ups ta boot!!! :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:Keep up the good work, my friend!!!:)
Well, if ya can't find some new wires, slap some silicone on yours and get out there!! :D
Sorry to hear about your weekend, as I said, it seems like, we're all experiening some of it this year. :cry:Better luck on your next outing!!!:)
Nice to see you back on the forum, Rich, yet sorry to hear your having some problems. It seems like we all have our ups and downs with these cars. I'm sure you'll get the bugs out of it in time for Mid America.:)
Here is a good start for you regarding road racing, along with the schedule for NASA's Ohio region.
It is a thread started by Greg C., that discusses the subject, and there are a number of members in the Ohio area, that subscribed to it.:thumb...
GSTinCO, It was the most fun I've had on a track this year!!! I'm sure we'll get it tuned before we go back out, Thanks!!I like Durango, we used to go skiing at Purgatory, and I remember the narrow gauge railroad. To bad your in the 4 corners region and not closer to Chris. You might still...
It was an absolute, super time, Greg. I really enjoyed this track immensely, but then I also like the shorter infield course at Cal Speedway too. :DAs far as the problems with the car and peripheral instrumentation are concerned, it's difficult to know exactly what's happening with these...
Week Before:
If you were following the thread from the last track weekend, you know we had a power steering issue that we weren't able to solve at the track. We finally got it worked out on the Tuesday before, this track weekend. The rest of the week I assembled and checked all the equipment...
I think the event went very well, plenty of track time and it was obvious, that extra effort was made by Sam and everyone at SRT, to keep things moving along. It was simply, a pleasure running at this event. :thumb:We have a number of photos, from the event, here is one.
