Day 2/3Took the surge tank, intake manifold and started on the driver side axle. The way everything is set up it made everything come out really easily which is nice, since serviceability was something I wanted to focus on when I was adding parts to the car. I don't think I ever realized...
Day 1Only got like 2-3 hours of work in since I had to fix my dad's car too. Got the radiator, downpipe, and turbo setup off so far. Glancing at the valves it looks like cylinder 4 has some beat up valves, which is no surprise since there's a giant hole in front of where the 4th rod would...

The general construction of the manifold is acceptable at best in my opinion. The materials used in the runners are quite thick, and the welds are generally beefy with good penetration. There was one spot on my manifold though--where the 2/3 runners combined at the collector that there was a...

Well, I went to my first track visit with three goals in mind:1. Do not blow the car up
2. Do NOT blow the car up
3. Break 14'sI knew it would be busy since not only was open test and tune was cancelled the week before, but this was the also last event of the season. After teching in...
So the car's finally been properly cleaned in the ~21 months I've owned it. It's about time to show it off. There was a LOT of work to do, so this guy (kmoore) decided to step inAnd this was the product...1.40 70-90
I propose that meth injection is not enough to significantly alter your octane rating as it's done by most people (e.g. M12 nozzle, delivering 750 cc/min). With dual M12's and 100% methanol, you'd get 2.61 lbs/min mass flow, or 1.137 lbs/min effective flow (flow in terms of gasoline, which is...
News storyVideo with head on impactOther camera angleIt's sickeningly sad that an innocent person had to die because this filth decided he wanted to die instead of go to jail.Apparently this is the guy in the Supra
Cliff's notes: is it possible for a wideband to be reading too rich? So, while my old turbo was in the process of dying and spewing out black smoke, I at one point noticed some coming out of my flex section. With that being said, the place I took my car to to get the bung welded on for my...
First, I would like to say that I have no association with any of these companies (Borg Warner, Bullseye Power, FP, Waffle House, etc.), and that I am doing this solely to provide information to the community. To do that, I will have a post describing the background of why I chose this turbo...

I've been looking through the online user's guide as well as the narrowband emulation guide and had a few questions.1. On page 2 (step 6) of the user's guide it says to wire up 0.1 uf 50 volt ceramic capacitors in series with what looks like the ground, narrowband wire and the 5v wideband...
Purpose: This is a primer to guide people through the process of upgrading their fuel systems. The number of options available to people now is growing so I thought this would be helpful. The first portion of the guide is a mathematical look at fuel system upgrades, focusing on fuel pump flow...
From DSMLink I've logged a pull, then made a table for InjDuty, Airflow, AFR and Calculated AFR. I derived calculated AFR through getting fuel flow in lbs/min by: InjDuty x 660 x 4 x .76 / 454 then dividing airflow (lbs/min) by this number. My question is how accurate would this calculated A/F...
Some threads I've searched have said this is due to a blown headgasket, even though compression test results come back fine (155 163 160 160 for me).Has anyone else experienced this? I started it up after a turbo/FMIC install with what I thought was enough coolant, then about 5 minutes of...
It's 4 am, and I'm still studying chemistry. Yesterday it was biology, today it will be more biology, and math. But then I'm done and I'll be going home to install some goodies on the car and write some tech articles...Anyone else not sleeping because of finals too?
I've already searched and read through the last ten pages of posts, with no help. Now that my car's back together when I try to start the car, starter motor runs and engine turns, almost sounds like it's about to start then keeps turning. Some background: I just finished a T28 install...
I'm thinking of putting my new turbo on and an assortment of other stuff on sometime soon, and was wondering if anyone had any tips for a first-time turbo job. I realize this is a bolt on process, but if anyone knows something to make things easier it'd be appreciated :thumb: The turbo came with...
I've recently located a good conditioned "T28" locally, and just wanted to make sure it was actually a 28 and not some sort of scam. Obviously it's sort of hard to tell the difference, so I was searching and I found this thread...
I just bought a used (100 miles) EGT from someone off ebay. Autometer cobalt for 87 dollars, probe looks barely used so I think I got a deal :thumb:Back to the question, it is reading 125 right now, unhooked in the box. Can someone explain this or did I get screwed?
Hi, I tried installing my Dave Brode UICP last night and ran into a few problems.1. I didn't jack the car up, since I was at my friend's house and he didn't have a jack, and I took my spare out a while ago (doh). I tried taking out the two screws in front of the wheel, and both broke. The...
I was wondering how many of you are running a used turbo bought off of trader, the classifieds or someone locally.
It's sort of hard throwing money to someone's promises that there's "no shaftplay" or "in excellent condition"
Changed spark plugs, figured what the hell and did a compression test.
Got (cylinder 1-4): 135, 120, 120, 135. Had no oil nearby and felt lazy so I didn't check to see if it was piston seals (doh!). Note that standard should be 178 psi, and service limit is 133 psi.
Another thing I noticed...
I've been trying to decide where I want to stop modding (for a while..can you ever stop? :D ) and was wondering how often do things break for you? Be it engine parts or drivetrain or whatever, just curious.
Almost every time I take the car past 5k RPM then go idle, there will be a loud squeaking noise coming from the engine bay. It seems to slowly get louder and louder until I get piss scared and just turn the car off. After a while (about 2-3 hours, a movie or two) I go back and it'll be fine...
Okay, so I finally ordered my catback, and have a few questions.1. Can I install the entire thing with only the front jacked up? If not, how do I get the rear up? Do I need to use one of those ramp things?
2. Will liberal amounts of WD40 and and something like liquid wrench get the...
Couldn't find anything to answer this in searches..I'm considering eventually getting a FMIC, and thus different piping, so my question is will I notice a huge difference if I just get a 1g bov w/ a flange instead of a flanged hard UICP?
No CEL, happens basically all the time.Basically when I depress the clutch it feels like there's a bunch of air or something in the clutch line. It makes a squeaking noise, and feels like there's a slight reverberation in the clutch pedal.I know this is a vague question, but it's really...

Searched and didn't find any relevant threads (yes there's the one on VFAQ but that didn't help much). Before I go cut stuff up and what not tomorrow installing my filter (yay finally not quite stock), how do you remove the snorkel? Does it have to be cut or does it have to in order to...
Ok..so, my turn signal lights dont work, but function normally with the hazard-warning lights. My manual tells me to
check the hazard switch contact (turn signal side), and
check the turn-signal switchWith it I got a slight diagram, which honestly I have no idea what its pointing me to...
Ok, the story is..
I was driving to work, and signals were fine. Then after about 5-10 minutes on the highway, I realized nothing was happening when I flipped them. Once at work I confirmed this, however I also found out that my hazards still functioned. In my search I've come up with this...
So...my HD got owned so my pictures did too  I found a random picture of a 2g GSX for you guys to work with though, and go nuts with this guy :thumb:
http://ps2.gamespy.com/playstation-2/gran-turismo-4/533774p12.htmlApparently these cars are for sure in GT4 (this page and the previous). However it's listed as "1995 Eclilpse GT"
I've looked through all sorts of brands for 17x8 rims, and so far I think only O.Z. has them standard as well as a few others. I've really wanted a set of Enkei RS6's but they only come in 17x8 in the form of the version on the Evo VIII as far as I've found. Anyone have any advice?
i think i'm going to mod my GSX, but im not sure yet due to monetary issues and time, but i just wanted to make sure im finding everything for as cheap as possiblegauge pods/boost gauge/egt - ~200
air filter/intake pipe from dejon tool - ~150 (do i even need the pipe?)
1g BOV - ~50

im looking to get some gauges, and so far the cheapest i've found is
238.65 for autometer phantom boost/EGT/2 gauge full a-pillaror296.55 for autometer phantom/EGT/AF/3 gauge full a-pillar1. these both seem sort of high, is there any way to get them any cheaper? (prices from...
anyone have any ideas? as i described above it seems to be a soft screeching noise while in 4th gear when throttle is applied, only when in 4th gear so farany ideas?
