AHHH, my comparison of a ten year old vehicle wasn't that great then.....but still, its not a current vehicle, its never been considered a "dream" car to most people....and overall, most people that aren't enthusiasts don't give DSMs a second glance. Its just not something to get riled up...
Exactly. Any petition, or mockery of EA games won't get anywhere....and its funny how everyone gets riled up over their choice to exclude a car that is no longer a "current" vehicle. I can't even remember the last time a Talon/Eclipse was in a magazine.
Oh, and I was one that said I'd hesitate to use it cause I didn't think the MAF T would translate it right!!!!I never said it would work in a non gm vehicle, just sharing experience.... :thumb:
I was just providing information based on experience...obviously none of you have experience with a Granatelli, I was saying how it worked. And one of the first free mods to ANY GM with a MAF is to descreen it. It is not there to move air around the sensor it is there to block anything from...
Uh, wel when my buddy runs with the stock maf descreened pulls around we swap out to the Granatelli and he runs again (within ten minutes of each other) and he dropped 2 tenths with damn near the same 60 ft.....he also said it seemed like it ran better on the highway after the track...
I know when my friend put this MAF on his 4.3 s-10 he lost a couple tenths in the 1/4.....so it was a worthwhile mod to his GMthey polish the inside and countour the airflow around the sensor so it gets more airflow meaning that gives the comp more signal faster. Than they enlarge how it...
I was considering the AEM brake upgrade as well, but ssbc kit looks much cleaner and has bigger calipers with more surface to them so it has to improve braking.....10.5 inch.....damn, I thought we had at least 11's....oh wellwhat about the rears guys?
Okay...
I'm seriously considering the big brake upgrade from SSBC for the 12 inch rotors, and the 2 piston caliper and brake lines etc for only 725.00I know the talon comes with 2 piston calipers, but these are bigger and handle the 12 inch rotor. My question, what size are the stock...
if hes looking for 11's, I'd say go with the bigger turbo......57 trim will spool some PSI but your right it doesn't hit full boost til later.....fortunately with the right mods he'll have 4,500 rpm of full boost to play with....leave the line at 5,000 or above, he'll never be out of boost while...
so you're scared of driving the car on the street, but not scared enough to take it to the track and run a 13.1 with it knocking/whirring/broken turbo/cracked manifold....sounds like if it isn't a 5000 dollar turd, with you behind the wheel, it might soon end up that way. If you're not sure...
I don't think it would have anything to do with a bad oxygen sensor....injector, restriction in fuel line, something related with fuel delivery is my guess, but its a really common code so I'm thinking there is something more to it, I'm just trying to find out everyone elses experience and what...
turbo damage :thumbdown or a small but constant boost leak.....time to upgrade....50 trim, hard intercooler piping, 1g bov, and an fmic  :D hope you figure it out man
well, if it has 660's it'll run like crap at idle and until full boost or at wot.....either way, I wouldn't drive it untuned with 660's like that..... :thumbdown
OK....apparently its common and 99% of people ignore it, and I plan on turning it off with DSMlink when I get it, but for my emissions they plug in a scanner and pull codes, anything I can do to permanently get rid of this damn code......I took the negative battery cable off and the light didn't...
eh to each their own....I just want to do something besides spend a grand or so on a big brake upgrade yet, but I wanna do something more than just paint them....I don't know I think they're pretty cool when you do em right.
You paint the calipers, put the decals on, then use high temp clearcoat over them....they last as long as your paint will and look the same the entire time, plus it makes the high temp paint have that glossy look to them. Lots of people have these and they've been used for a while now....just...
His contact info in case you want to get ahold of him directly.email: [email protected] AIM: Birdmn3and pricing I've seen is very reasonable.....Hes special making some for me at 17 bucks for 4, shipped, but the ones he always makes go for less.
Anyone interested in some TALON brake decals....an example of some of the work is pictured below. I'm trying to get this guy to make them as a regular product as he does good work, and I think these will look good with my red painted calipers and slotted disks. Thanks, caleb
Well, it has to be good for something, it may not be the most efficient FMIC, but if you can get it cheap enough it has to be better than our puny SMICCaleb
I have an evo3 in the car....it needed a USDM front diff, a USDM final drive and a 2nd gen linkages to work in my 2G car....everything else seems to work.
Don't try to destroy a nice DSM like that. It's designed to be a sports car...not a "lowrider." Sell it and get you a nice Chevy S10. ;) [/B]I have a chevy s-10 thats slammed but there is no way I would put 20's on it....they'd #### up the rear (my axle hits frame when I chirp into 2nd...
Contact Jeffwww.rothbuilt.com/speeddesignhe has an option to help with crankwalk and they have used it on a bit of street engines, and their cars as well......contact him and see what he says, cause since you're building the 7 bolt, might as well make it as reliable as it can beCaleb
www.rothbuilt.com/speeddesignThey have to have the block, but they have a pretty good cure, they do machine parts of the block for all new stuff and some different parts, but Jeff is about the most knowledgeable DSM guy I've ever metCaleb
I 2nd thatYou can supercharge them and drop them put nice looking rims on them, there is a lot of aftermarket for astro/safari vans....they're pimpCaleb
Hmmm interesting, but yeah, if you're going to all that trouble, why not put in a first gen block, just the block, or would it not fit together right....sorry if that sounds like a total newbie question
I don't know, I can sell my car for more than I paid for it, and buy a mint ass 1st gen and gain about 2,000....... I'm weighing my optionsSee I paid 1500 for a 97 talon awd and it either needs a new tranny.....or a cv half shaft, and its too cold to be working on it right now, but I drove...
are 7 bolts REALLY that bad? I mean I just bought a 97 awd and I'm looking for mid 12's with the 7 bolt inside.....if they're that bad though, maybe I just ought to sell it
Hey thanks alot.....I'm gonna put in the shaft first since that takes like 30 minutes to do and I'm gonna check the fluid in the tranny....75-90 gear oil correct? Yeah I don't know if I'm going to sell it or not, I was hoping for mid 12's and a cheap cool ass car, but I can make money off it...
Talons have way more agressive lines than the eclipses.......eclipses have the grocery cart wing and the swoopy front end, talons just have agressive styling....I'd say a 2g eclipse is more of a girls car than a 2g talon.....but the only REAL girls car are the non turbos :p:Caleb
I bought a 97 eagle talon from a dealer for 1500 bucks. It was on their backlot, they got in on trade and said it didn't run at all. I jump started it, and they said the tranny was completely gone. I pushed in the clutch put it in 1st and it rolled around their lot just fine but made a...
Erm, isn't a plymouth breeze basically the exact same thing as a dodge neon? They have the same tailights and look to them and same cheesy interior?I always thought they were the same and I worked at autozone for a while and parts interchanged like mad....who cares...Caleb
