I made well over 600whp on stock axles, it's all in technique and pre-loading the drivetrain to avoid breaking parts. If your car is around the 350whp mark, there should be no reason to break axles when launching off the stutterbox if your technique is correct and you are pre-loading the...
A chisel and a rubber mallet work a million times better than any pry bar. Get it between the axle and trans case and give it a smack (not hard enough to gouge the axle) and it will pop out easily every time. I've had a few cars that a pry bar works fine, but others that a pry bar would not, so...
Oh course they would, they're salesmen... :)Ever see Tommy Boy??Big Tom Callahan: Of course, I can get a hell of a good look at a T-Bone steak by sticking my head up a bull's ass, but I'd rather take the butcher's word for it.Most people just take the butcher's word for it.
I had tried with an OEM thermostat, as well as running no thermostat and the results were the same. 1g's have the fans controlled by a thermoswitch, so there's no way to change when they come on automatically, unless you want to get into some wiring and controllers, but I doubt it would help...
My neighbor uses it in his 90 AWD and has constant running hot/overheating problems. He won't switch back to regular coolant, and in all my experience I've never seen a problem like his. I attribute the problem to the Evans. The stuff is made to pull heat out of the cylinder and head, but I...
The two cars I know of both have tanks in great shape. I have a box full of sending units that are in great shape as well, those parts are around in good condition if you know where to look for a deal.
Bummer on the tank... I recently sold a mint 1g AWD tank, and I'm only about 45 minutes from you. I know where there are two 1g AWD's near me that are complete. PM me if you would like more information.
You won't get a student loan to pay for anything other than tuition, since the loan monies are sent directly to the school.Secondly, my advice is not to buy things you can't pay for in cash, except for obvious things such as a house, or medical expenses that would need to be financed that...
I have the SS-X TZ/B kit in one of my cars and I love it. It's the 2700# PP with the Kevlar/Ceramic sprung disc. I get no chatter, pedal isn't a whole lot heavier than stock, and it offers more clamping force than I'll ever need.
Made a little progress with the car last weekend. I finally got the 8 years of tree sap off the car that was shown in the first few pictures.. I also pulled the rear wing and lower window trim off to re-seal the hatch glass because the car had a terrible leak.More pictures as I work on it!
OBX is not made in the US. It is a US based company, but outsources it's manufacturing to other countries such as china.Taken directly from their website: "STATE OF THE ART DESIGN & TECHNOLOGY OBX Organization, along with global partners and affiliates are capable of manufacturing products...
Some people prefer to spend money on a quality part because not only are they made here in the US, but because there is quite a bit more R&D put into a quality unit than the overseas knockoffs. Next time, check out the transition from the flange into the runners between a $300 manifold and a...
I highly doubt it would be worthwhile. It would take some serious modification to the end tanks and inlets. They made a kit for a 2g, you would be better off finding a used one if you're dead set on that one.
No bumping allowed.Kinetic Motorsport: KINETIC MOTORSPORT DSM (1G) RACE FMIC KITThe core is 24x12x3.5. I'd say the legs are 8" or so from what I remember. I have two of these kits. Apparently they are no longer made. They use a Garrett bar and plate core and are extremely efficient.
FS: 1g to 2g/3g/ Evo MAF/MAS adapter harnesses | Marketplace > Parts For Sale | GalantVR-4.org Mitsubishi Galant VR4 ForumNo need to swap right now, as you are no where near outflowing the 2g unit.
Not for us in the states (Pensylvania at least). If the car was originally a an OBD1 car it's just a visual inspection for emissions. If it was originally an obd2 car with an Evo8 ECU conversion then everything would need to be working 100% correctly or it would fail. Doing the Evo8 ECU swap in...
Or you could do the following for really cheap.Evo8 ECU - $100
Evo8/9 Knock sensor - $75
Patch Harness - Free
Evo8 MAS - $60
Tactrix 1.3U cable - $120$355 for a platform that is light years ahead of link, and about half the cost.
Here are a few pictures as the car came off the trailer after the 750mi trip home. The older pictures are from when the PO owned it so you can see the condition the car was in prior to it going in to disrepair.
Starting a thread for a an all original, 100% rust free Black Cherry 90 AWD that I rescued from a field in Illinois. More information and pictures to follow!Plans for the car are to restore it mechanically back to 100% factory, and restore the interior and exterior back to showroom...
It was never on craigslist.. I look on there as well, but people that know what they have usually want a small fortune.Edit: No mice poop that I have seen. It did come with a 90 EPROM ECU. Other than that it's completely stock, no surprises.
It wasn't really listed for sale, per say. It was on the owners website, but it never said for sale. One day I emailed and asked and he said that it was. The car has 162k, but it looks like it has about 50k on it. Here's a picture of what it looks like clean.
So, after seeing this car on the internet for close to a year, I finally pulled the plug and made the 1,500 mile round trip journey to get it. The car sat in a field in Ivesdale Illinois since 2006 after a timing belt failure. The body is 100% straight, and 100% rust free. Everything on the car...
Bringing this back.... I'm in touch with a local shop to have these reproduced. They are doing a set in Dark Spectrum Blue, and Blackcherry for me. I will let everyone know the cost once they get me a quote! :thumb:
I have these on one of my 1g's. You definitely need the 1g VR4 calipers, as the mounting tabs are different on the 2g calipers. The RTM brackets are designed around the 1g caliper. I did not have any trouble bolting mine up using the RTM brackets. I am running Evo8 Enkei's, and the calipers...
I have the HF welding cart. With my lincoln 140, a 80cf cylinder, and a 10# spool of wire it's a little hard to manuver since I believe the weight rating is 100lbs, which I'm easily over. I will probbaly change the front casters at some point, but the cart doesn't move that much and it helps...
Dave used to live about 5 minutes from me, and was a big talker from what I remember. He was friends with Wes Hess. I'm pretty sure he moved out of the area and away from the DSM scene.
