I have been without a DSM for a little over a year now. I sold mine because of the high maintenance and went and bought a VW Passat. Talk about a change...but I am always in the hunt for a nicely priced 1G AWD in my area so I can still have a daily driver, but I also have started to save for a...
I think that is a great deal for the car if it is in good shape interior/exterior wise. The only thing that is bad about going with a high mileage car is the little things that are going to add up. Be ready to pay for new things like tie rods, ball joints, and stuff like that. All in all...
Wow, nice car man. I especially like the bottom of the front bumper, really sets the car apart from every other DSM driving down the road.Is that factory paint?
I'm not going to come in and say that I know a lot about VW's, but I have had one for about six months now and my sister and her husband have had one, atleast one at that, for as long as I have known him. My car has been reliable as you can ask for. It's just a 4 banger with a little turbo and...
I don't know if this is the exact right thing to do or anything, but when I did my 1G head swap on my 2G, I used my 2G caps because we got the caps on the 1G screwed up. We also used 2G cams too. I don't know if that helps you at all.
I thought it was a pretty good movie. I agree that it was different in the sense that it did not center on all the fighting part of war, good compliment to the book.
I know it has been said a million times, but this is still the best thing to follow when you start to mod your DSM: http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/2gturbo/stage1power.php
I hope that if you were to put that exhaust on your car, you would be using your car pretty much as a track car only because I can not imagine driving around town with that loud of an exhaust.
I'd actually say go for a 3G Eclipse. I think they look pretty nice and my roommate has one and they are dececntly quick(V6 anyhow) and ride good. Also, most of them come with the autostick and you can find a real nice one, atleast in my area, for about 8-9k. Get a Black or Pearl white one...
I found the DSM I want and it is relatively close to me so I am working out the financing for either this car or another, but I can't seem to find anyway to get back to this seller. I pm'd him, he doesn't take emails, and he didn't ever leave his cell phone number or nothing. If anybody knows...
I ordered a bunch of stuff from JOE P about a year ago and my buddy bought a dumped 02 housing from Punishment Racing and my stuff came in a box from Punishment and was identical to my buddie's. So...if you can find the JOE P one, it's the same as the Punishment one, in my case anyhow.
I actually kind of lost my girlfriend with my DSM last summer. I swapped a 1G head into my 2G GST and it took about every night of my free time for about a month and the girlfriend was constantly on my back. At the end of it, I found out that she was also keeping busy on those long nights with...
1.) Yes, I am a full-time student student.2.) You can take out student loans to cover cost of living which I could easily just say that I used that money to pay off the car so I could afford my cost of living--many of my friends have done it.You guys are making me think about this...
I found this real nice 1G in my area for about $3,500. I have a 2000 VW Passat for my daily driver right now and my payments are about $100 a month. I don't have the cash right now to pay for the 1G so I was thinking maybe student loans...but I don't have much experience with them. I could...
Well, since you've already done everything for the 6 bolt swap and you are going to have to most likely get both engines rebuilt either way, I would just stick with the 6 bolt swap. Or, you could stick the 7 bolt in there until it goes bad, and have the 6 bolt lying around waiting to be put in.
I have a hoodie and a t-shirt and they both are nice quality and only took a few days to ship. I got mine a couple of years back and the newer ones in the shirts section look a lot nicer also so I definately think it is worth the money. I would just tell you to watch out for shrinkage as you...
In my opinion, finding a DSM that only has 39k on it at this stage, considering the 99's are still six years old, would be a good find and worth your 12k. I would try and talk the guy down and get the best deal that I could and buy the car. It might be tough to get a loan on it because that is...
I only have a couple of experiences with Satan and they have only been good one's, but it still worries me everytime I walk through the door. Depends where you are at I believe and what type of people work there, but I am still just waiting for the day I get screwed. I don't think it will be...
Well, the guy came and got the car and I took the cashier's check after calling the bank and verifying the money was in the account and everything was okay. I was really worried, but I wasn't going to get that price out of anyone else, so I had to kind of take this buyer. Now that it is...
Yeah, I'd have to say it is mostly your 60' times that are killing you. You could take a whole second off of your 1/8 if you would drop your 60' down to 2.2 or 2.1 which I have seen done in a FWD with a 14B. It could be track conditions as well. Two weeks ago, it was cold and rainy at the...
I also forgot to add to this that it wasn't without seeing my car that he bought this. I sent him 27 pictures, details of the car in and out, and a two page email reciting all the work done to the car. He then called me the next day and asked about it. He called back two days later and told...
That's why I took some money and went to the local hardware store and invested in a couple sets of jackstands....they are just as important as your brakes when you are driving down the road.
I just talked to the guy. He said he is coming down on Sunday to pick up the car and he will have the bank draft with him and everything, but I told him to bring cash if he could cuz I had problems with fraud in the past. That was a lie, but oh well. A bank draft is not going to work either...
I appreciate all the concern for me and everything from you guys. I am thinking that I will just tell the dude that he needs to bring the money with him when he gets the car and if he doesn't like that, I have a couple other interested buyers. If nothing pans out in the next couple weeks, I'll...
That sucks that everyone thinks it is a fraud. Damn people now a days. I don't whether to go through with the sale or not. He says he's a truck driver and he'll be getting me the money this Friday and swing by and pick up the car in a couple weeks when him and his son are on their way to...
Well, it's official, today the guy called me and told me that he would take my car. It's been for sale for a couple of weeks and the guy seemed like he wanted it pretty badly. He's never seen it in person either, just told me he'd send me the bank check on Friday and he'd be here in a couple...
It's a 1997 GSX that I am looking at with 90k on it. It's a steep price to pay I just realized.I've now found a 99 GSX that needs a motor in my area to pick up for about the same price as I am selling my car. Maybe that will be a better deal considering I am best friends with a great...
I know that it is quite a bit out of pocket expenses and that is exactly why it is so debateable but it is tough to sell my car in my area because there is not much of a market for DSM's, but this guy is ready and willing. Maybe I can talk him down a little bit more.
I have been debating over the last couple months whether or not I want to get rid of my baby and invest in a car that I could build and never have to worry about a little thing called traction. I brought my car to the track this past weekend and couldn't hook up in the first two gears and when...
Tonight I just decided to take it off so after about twenty minutes it was done. It looks okay without it back there, actually, I think I like it better without. My only problem is now I realized that some of the squeeking is also from my strut bar not letting my hatch cover go all the way...
I am talking about the third brake light which is inside the car at the back of the hatch. If no one gives me any suggestions besides taking it off I do believe that is what I will do, as long as it does not look too bad in the hatch with it off.
I have been having a real problem with the tail light rattling against my hatch glass lately and I do not think there is a spot to tighten so it does not rattle. It is not a huge problem, just a large annoyance and something that is very noticable and loud. It makes me feel like my car is kind...
Lately I have been talking to my friends about going down to the local track and they all feed me lines of blowing my engine and ruining my car. My question to you guys is how many of you actually had your motor go bad due strict racing and things like that? I know the people I hang around...
I am betting on the oil pan bolts as well because my buddy had the same problem on his 91 TSI AWD and it turned out to be that he put on of the oil pan bolts in the wrong hole and the long one was coming through and hitting the timing belt. It wore a bit in the first thousand miles and then it...
You have a 14B which you can boost to ~15 PSI with stock fuel system, but if you upgrade your fuel pump you can probably turn it up ~3 PSI. Don't turn up your boost without getting an aftermarket boost gauge. Many people's beginning mods are a boost gauge, boost controller of some sort, UICP...
My only known answer is that yes, your new pipe will benefit you because 1) it's a lot larger than your stock pipe and 2) it won't contract and expand like your old one did.
Pretty sure it will fit considering even engines from 90's fit in 99's, but you might have to change some things such as the CAS or something like that.
Yeah, '90's have the air to air oil cooler and 3bolt rear ends, but...I would stick with the '90 because, first of all, it's a DSM, it going to have problems if you have a '90 or a '93. Second, you say daily driver, but you never know, and AWD is always a plus at the track, or on the road...
Yes, I do believe that you would need some type of fuel controller to compensate for larger injectors, even if they were just 550's. So...that would require you to spend quite a bit of money, money in which you have previously stated you do not have at the current time. If I was you, I'd...
Here in South Dakota, it is actually legal to ride ATV's on the road, but in Iowa, I got caught when I was 16 riding on a main highway and the sheriff just told me to stay on the shoulder and not to be messing around. I got caught by a town cop once and he told me to go home and stay off the...
Nice car man. I am looking to trade in my 2G GST for a 1G AWD as well. I love the looks of the 1G's and I think you are being a little too hard on yourself, the car looks real nice. Good luck with it.
