I was recently messing around with my 97-gsx, and i flipped the bov around, the end that the dump tube is normally mounted on, i put to the upper I/C piping, and the other end to the dump tube. As a result, the BOV now flutters isntead of the squeek, and it seems to be holding all the boost...
Problem is, when i hit full throttle, around 4-5k rpm and boost is full i get a nasty sputter, its kinda feels like fuel-cut... Thing is, it just started doing this on and off about 2 weeks ago, so i replaced spark plugs & wires, and the o2's look fine... I had a boost leak test done, few minor...
I recently got into a little fender bender and I need a new hood, I was just wondering if anybody out there has a BLACK factory hood for a 97 eclipse?
thanks Matt
What would be great is if that buy has like a B18C in that stupid car, pumpin like 280hp at the wheels, running 9's and your talon gets its a$$ spanked.Lesson I have learned about DSM's. Dont own one unless you have a lot to spend on keeping the damn thing running. I have owned my 97 GSX...
is the block worth buying, because even with my new berrings, i still have a 50% chance of getting it again right? will the new block help the re-sale price of my car?
I think that the N/T motors were made by chrysler and the turbo ones are mitsubishi motors, god knows chrysler couldnt make an engine that would last with a turbo. :dsm:
I was talking to a DSM specialist when i had crankwalk and he said something about a 6 bolt block from japaan that fits right up with my motor and he said it would never get crankwalk, and it would be a block that could hold A LOT of horse power. I didnt look into it more because it was $2500...

I would really inspect the thing inide and out, also see what kind of gas mileage it get with you driving it, and buy a virgin car doesnt really matter, the guy i bought my "virgin" 97 GSX from a guy who ran the brand new rebuilt motor a quart low for 10k miles. I wouldnt call my car a virgin...
it doesnt matter how new your car is, what matters is how bad u beat it, i beat my eclipse pretty good sometimes, but mine dont tick, i change oil every 2000 miles with Mobile 1 5w-30, but thats besides the point
The Tranny, (transmission) is part of the drivetrain, it is the actual gearbox, it holds the 5 forward gears and the 1 reverse gear, if you tow without a flatbed, ur car probably wont be AWD anymore ;) .
If the roof scoop is making up for AC by shooting air in thru the roof, then at a 120MPH (if the car can still go that fast from areodynamic loss) that wind is gunna be pretty painfull. Use something that wont deform the roof to make it look good.
If you car is manual, it could be your clutch berrings spinning wierd in there, thats what my car does, when my clutch is out between idle and 2500rpm it sound like a cricket constantly making its chirping sound.
If i get a 3" will it knock down some of my torque while im still running on my stock turbo? I wont be able to buy my new turbo untill next spring so i dont really want to loose my 214 ft-lbs of touque:D
I am curious about buying the downpipe, the Hahn Racecraft looks appealing to me. I am planing to have somewhere around 400hp when im done upgrading my car and I'm wondering with high boost if this is the down pipe for me. The pipe starts as a 2.5" hook-up to the manifold (to fit the stock O-2...
sorry i havent posted for a while, i was on vacation, which also means i have not figured out the problem. When im trying to drive to get alot of miles on a tank of gas it doesnt really work, and when im driving around at home (driving kinda hard) and in the same amount of time i use allmost...
I have had my car for about 2 weeks, i dont drive it hard that much, but i do go on the turbo a little in normal driving and i am only getting like 13MPG and it really sucks, I was wondering if i am going have to live with it, or will allowing the engine to breathe better (intake and all that...
AWD isnt slower on a rolling start, i raped a GS-T thru an intersection with a rolling start of like 15mph. A GS-T will still burn a little rubber trying to launch at that speed, a GSX or TSi wont ;)
It could be clutch, but when i roast my clutch a little it smells for only a few minutes.... does the smell you have stay in the car for a long time?
i had the same problem for a while in my car, i have 17" factory rims and what i do is rev it up to about 5500 RPM slip it to like 10 mph and let it out fast, but i dont dump it, usually my tires will break loose a little and it will bog only like 500rpm and i will take off with no clutch smell...
The engines are probably stock with turbos or they have a turbo B-18C (integra GSR engine) dont ask how i know this, i dont like civics a whole lot (except seeing them in my rear view mirror). i like my DSM A LOT better then any civic.:D
I payed $12,000 for my car, with 18,000 on the motor and 78,000 on the body, the motor was replaced because the guy i bought it from, his dad owns some mitsubishi dealers in my area and got the engine and installation for very little so he did it to "restor" the car back to new. It wasnt in an...
Picked up my 97 black GSX 5spd manual last tuesday got my license plates today, my car is all stock with 18,000 miles on it and i seek advice on what to use to upgrade it. :D
