Thanks everyone! I'll keep you posted on my progress. The car is scheduled for the conversion right after the New Year.treebonker: :)slugsgomoo: Right on, I have a set of the EVO VIII Enkei rims I'll be using for fitment. I believe the offsets are much the same.bjones18: Thanks...
I'm looking for advice on upgrading the dinky brakes on my '90 GSX to the Brembos off of an EVO VIII.My friend is selling his setup because he's switching to smaller Brembo Group N homologated units. The stock brakes are too big for the 15" gravel-spec rally rims he wants to run in...
I came across a Cosmo Racing short-shifter for a 1g on eBay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=5138223244Has anyone tried one? Are there any other short-shifter options for a '89-90 AWD? Thanks.
Hey, when did real rally rims become "bling"? I'd take them over chromed boat anchors off a Mustang anyday. :) Adam at Z-1 Auto can get you Enkei ES Tarmacs. Enkei's RPF1 is my choice for autocross/track -- relatively inexpensive for a forged rim. For a 1g, I'd get a real set of brakes before...
Why are the true coilover options for the 1g so limited in comparison to the 2g's?I was considering buying the Tein Type SS dampers last week, but I'd rather have their Flex dampers with separate height and preload adjustments. Tein doesn't make Flex coilovers for the 1g, only for the 2g...
I'm getting a set of Ralliart titanium pedals for my EVO. More about function than flash IMHO. I'm curious to see if they'll work in my '90 GSX as well.:dsm::thumb:
Here's the trunk of my '90 GSX. I don't believe the rear diff leaves you enough volume for two twelves. Anyhow, I have a Treo SS 12" subwoofer with a digital preamplifier, battery, digital gauges, 4-channel amp, and a class-D amp under the plexiglass...
Here's a link with all of the Autopower roll bar options for a 1g:Autopower Eclipse / Talon 90-94 Roll BarsI'm probably going with the street-sport roll bar so that I can use a harness, too.BTW where can I get the regular Canadian style seatbelts and trim panels to replace the US 1g...
MSRP for the seats is $729 each. Add another $300 to the total for sliders, brackets, and hardware. After shipping and taxes, I paid $1,660, but I had to call in a favor to get that deal. Still, too much money spent for this frustration.:dsm:
Right on. Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, it might be time to jetison the stock choker belts. You bolted the harness to the backseat shoulder belt housing, right? Is their much of an angle to the seat?:dsm:
Has anyone managed to install Sparco seats in a 1gA? What advice?I already have a pair of Monzas with the necessary brackets, but I've temporarily given up after realizing that it would take some fab work to keep the stock passive restraint seatbelts.
My Sparco Monzas arrived last week for my '90 GSX. Excellent seats, and slightly wider and longer in the thigh than either the Milanos or Torinos. They looked great just sitting in the GSX -- big and mean. Changed the whole look of the car.Anyhow, I spent an entire day trying to install...
I ended up getting hubcentric rings on eBay from Discount Tire Direct for $12, shipping included. They're gold anodized aluminum and look something like this:Now, I only have to wait until temps finally get above freezing to install them. :)
Thanks for the feedback. If only to avoid litigation, I'd imagine DSM put strong enough lugs on their cars to permit a lugcentric fitment. Regardless, I'm going to order some hubcentric rings just to be safe.JustForWheels.com has a hubcentric ring search. Plastic rings for an Eclipse...
Yeah, I believe the EVO has McPherson struts with inverted shock absorbers in front and a multi-link setup with stabilizer bar and aluminum suspensions arms in rear.
Interesting thread. I had no idea the 2G had a different suspension setup than the 1G. I had always assumed that my '90 GSX was a better handler simply because it was lighter. Oh, and because it has pop-up headlamps. :)Granted, my GSX is not my EVO. I do wish the GSX had a stiffer...
This morning I mounted these Konig Holes (17x7) on my "winter" car, a '90 GSX...The Konigs were lighter than anticipated. Unfortunately, they do show how small the brake rotors are and the polished lip only emphasizes the fender gap. :|The tires are Pirelli P7000 Supersports...
