Anyone have any tricks for getting the lower control arm loose? I have the nut of but can't get it to move at all. I've pryed, I've beat and I try ed using the jack to change the angles but have had no luck. Soaked everything in wd40 and letting it sit till tomorrow.
Car is 1997 gsx auto.
Today my driver side axle bolts must have fallen out while driving. On my way to work the car started making a thumping sound on driver side. I suspected the axle. Got out and layer under the car and could easily move the CV axle by hand. Bought an axle and went to replace...
Thank you.Thats why the shop quoted so high because they will only replace everything. I currently dont have the money or know how/time to do it all. We started 2 a days today so its a busy time and I cant afford to not finish the work in one night.
When I purchased my 1997 GSX a few years ago I was told the A/C compressor locked up a couple of weeks before I purchased the car. I am having a new baby in Sept so my wife said if I want to keep the car it has to have working a/c. Yesterday I decided to check it out and I found that the...
65 miles and no check engine light. I will drive it to the NTB about 20 miles away for the inspection tomorrow....will have my fingers crossed the whole way.
Ok thank you. I read otherwise when I did a google search but it wasnt car specific. They wouldnt reset it at the parts store so I disconnected the batt and am 25 miles inyo my 50+ mile cruse.
Does anyone know if the cel will go off after I replace the sensor or do I have to have it reset then drive the car around? Ive currently driven the car about 70 miles since replacing it and still have the cel. Ive only taken it on 2 country road drives during those miles.
Ok ill get on that. Thanks guys.Edit: the bad thing about driving it 50 miles is that the car has Alabama plates and its out of state registrations out.
I just replaced it when I purchased the car but its really easy so ill change it again. I was more curious how long ill need to drive it before I can get it inspected after I change it. Someone locally told me around 400miles so I was hoping for a shorter answer or a way to speed up the process.
Ok well I hopped in the car this morning to get it inspected but during warm up this Cel came on (p1400). When I purchased the car it had this cel so I purchased a mdp sensor from the forums and installed it. I thought it fixed the problem because the cel was gone but it may have just been gone...
In one of my dsm's I run the upgraded evo style beehive Springs from fp. Forced Performance Turbochargers: Evo Bee Hive Upgraded SpringsThey came with the light evo retainers. I installed them with the head still attached so im sure I did it wrong lol.Fp assured me that they were not regular...
Some of those places listed above use Watts machine shop. Thats where mudpit had my machine work done and I believe Fp use to use them ehen they worked on cars. I wouldnt be supprised if thats who steve uses. Watts is probably what you consider over the top expensive.I have also heard great...
I love sleepers also. There is a guy in the area that races an old beat up turbo diesel van on spray. He was running 7.2's last time I went to the diesel competition at the north start 8th mile track. There is one for sale locally in the DFW area. I would love to pick it up but I would have...
When I posted this earlier I ment I dont see there being any problems with my install do to the new endtanks and mounting bracket. I dont want to give off the impression that a stock supra smic would fit correctly or look good. If I thought mine would bulge out the bumper I wouldnt use it.
I picked up a supra smic on the link forums a while back. Someone had already welded on end tanks and a mounting bracket. I havn't gotten around to installing it yet but it looks like it should fit fine.
Well im regretting my wire tuck now because I had to sell my smim and 75mm tb... Now my crank plug (or timing plug...whatever its called) is about 4 inches to short. I had everything mounted below the smim and now its all back on top.
The smaller the diameter the faster the air will move. Does anyone know the internal diameter of the 2g throttle body off the top of their head?
Edit: its ID is 52mm or 2.05"So it forces the velocity above .4 mach at around 585 cfm worth of flow. Obviously you can make power after that but I...
I guess I can add to my own thread since the info may help other.
I have made 402whp on an FP3052 on FP's dyno back when they had one. I was using the stock 2g TB, stock intake manifold and FP2 cams. That wasn't really pushing it but that will add to the info.
99GST racer is the reason you use two BOV's in your set up to combat compressor surge? I figured with your compound set up you would have that problem as well.
I am aware of the upgrade/benefit of the 1g throttle body. I actually have a 75mm TB on my GST. I am just curious how far people have gone with a 2G TB since I have a stock 97 GSX. If a 2G TB will meet my goal then their is no reason for me to spend money on a 1g TB and port work. Thanks for the...
I was curious what the limit of a stock 2g throttle body is? I know that most people at least upgrade to a 1g throttle body but who out there is still pushing their 2g throttle body? Please post track times or dyno numbers if you have them.
I use to have almost the exact same set up that is listed in your profile and I did not experience compressor surge at that boost level. I had a big ebay intercooler though. I did however reach the 400whp mark at 22psi If I remember correctly (that could just be from the difference in the dyno's...
Several people on here have offered to help you for free...
When I first got link a friend of mine offered to help me so I drove a little over an hr to his house and spent all day learning dsm link v3 and how to tune both of our cars. It was a very valuable experience even though im not a very...
Can you post how you set up your timing retard switch that your using to launch your auto? I saw the video's on youtube but it just explained what it was but not what you needed to do to set it up.
Hey pauleyman. What if your marks never line up 100% correctly? When Graham, Heath and I installed my valve springs we noticed this and were concerned that it may be the reason the car is flowing over 52lbs/min and running a 2.8 sec 70-90 mph time, and no I dont have an elephant in the car :)...
