Looks like a set of slicks or really good drag radials would help out a lot. Your 60' and your 1/8 would go down quite a bit. Seems to me that you should be able to get down to 6.8 or 6.7 in the 1/8 easily if you could get some traction. Great times though for a stock build. Good luck with...
I haven't seen him in a while but I do know that he sold his car. It was up for sale on the classifieds a while back and he posted the name of the guy that bought it. Welcome back. :thumb:
That the problem with knock off units. You are probably going to have a hard time getting it set just right since that is the only adjustment on a BOV. There is really nothing else that you can do.
I agree, it literally takes maybe 10 minutes to do a compression test. If the owner has a problem with it then there is obviously something wrong with the car.
South Carolina basically has no laws when it comes to modding cars. I drove around for three weeks with no exhaust at all (just a straight downpipe) just because I didn't feel like putting it back on after going to the drag strip. I've also run a open dump tube for the past year with no...
You may want to read the rules again. Rule #1 says:"No "Use the Search" replies - answer the question, link to the answer, or don't reply."Just look for the usual stuff like rust, any fluids coming from the tranny, etc. If you see anything out of the ordinary and the owner dodges your...
That is about what I would look for. Shifting around 8 to 8.5 should be perfect. That car should move pretty good. Let us know when you get some dyno numbers. :thumb:I hope your tranny and rear end hold up. I never had any problems with my 3-bolt but the quickest time that I ever ran is...
It looks good to me. Any reason why you are not going to go with a more aggressive cam set? Are you going to stick with the stock springs/retainers? If not then I would go with something like the FP3x's and rev the crap out of it. You are definately going to have a turbo that can flow a ton...
That's an EVOIII 16G. You can run them at low boost on a stock fuel system. Most of the site vendors will carry that turbo and it is a huge upgrade from stock for a small price. Good luck :thumb:
I was thinking about that after I did my last post. Since it's just been doing it since the rebuild then you might not have the timing set just right. I would still go with a colder set of plugs either way.
You probably want to go with a colder plug. I always ran BPR7ES's in my car gapped at .28 after I started running more than 20 pounds of boost. I would get rid of the 6ES's and pick up some 7's. You can get them from NAPA for 1.30 a piece. It sounds like you are blowing the spark out causing...
I just did a quick search for palm pilot forums and came up with this:http://www.pdastreet.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?s=&forumid=5You may want to post a thread on there to see if it is possible or just do some searching on there to see if someone has already answered your question. I...
I agree with DGajre, you are going to have to spray the car or have some serious weight reduction (maybe even both) in order to get into the 11's in a 2G AWD.
I've personally seen an EVOIII 16G go 11.9 with a 50 shot. It was a 93 AWD Talon on stock suspension. He ran it two years ago at Braggin Rights in Jackson, SC. It was on a stock longblock as well (other than cams).
It's not a very common operating system right now. I think as time goes on you will see more and more smartphones and PDA's go to that operating system (unfortunately). When that happens most of the logging software will probably migrate as well.Palm OS Required:In order to run...
I believe that all of it is for Palm OS. The most recent thing that I have seen is PocketLogger is now able to run on two smartphones. The Palm Treo 650 and 700.
I think that I might just stick with the DSM just for the reason that if something goes terribly wrong with the Civic my soon to be wife will kill me. That's how I got the car for free. She was in the market for a new car and instead of trading the Civic in and getting nothing for it she...
That is what I was afraid of. I wrote the director of the local SCCA and he said that Civic would probably be best to start out with. The SCCA events here are not that bad on price. The first event in Orangeburg only requires that you be a member of the SCCA and buy a sticker from the sponsor...
I'm just wondering how well AWD 1G's do on road courses. I am thinking about getting into the local SCCA club but I am a little worried how well my car will do and what class they will put me in with the amount of mods that I have done to the car. I want to be competitive if I start entering...
It looks good except for the one on the left is a little off. You definately have more patience than me. I would have gotten pissed off half way through the first block. Also, the 18th and 19th should be Saturday and Sunday not Thursday and Friday. I don't think that to many people would...
All State tried to do that to me with my Camaro and we just ended up swapping to Travelers and never had a problem since. I've had two Starions, two AWD 1G's and a 3G GT all with mods and they have never questioned me.I would like to know what they are saying is causing your coverage to go up.
Just check the shifter linkage before you go and rip your tranny out for a rebuild. The way that it sounds you probably are due for a rebuild but we accidentally left a socket extention in my buddies engine bay one time and it wouldn't let him go into one of his gears (can't remember exactly...
That's what he is here for. He's a wiseman and helps keep the boards clean of posts like you just made. If you "think" you know something then don't post. If you are certain about what you are saying and have experience with it then post what you know.On topic though, the ECU should work...
I have my logger cable and the serial calbe permanently run through the car but I just usually leave the PDA on the center console when I am logging. I can't leave mine in there because I use it for school and work.
My cars been down for about three months now. Lost compression in the first cylinder but I haven't had the time to get the motor torn down. I've got an 04 Titan to drive in the meantime though so it's not all that bad.
When I bought my car I went to start removing the back interior and found that they guy before me had for some reason run a wire between the back two taillights. I still haven't figured out why he did that but it definately did not need to be there. The headlight and taillight wiring is...
The only other thing that you can do is go back through everything that you changed and make sure that all connections are good and tight and that none of the fuses/relays were faulty brand new. I've spent hours trying to diagnose a brand new relay that was bad out of the box.If you have...
You have to be an idiot to believe that write up. The new Austin Martin DB9 only tops out at 178 mph. Some people amaze me. If someone ends up buying that car they need to be banned from this site. ROFL
I wouldn't go any further until you get a logger. You won't have anyway of telling what is going on inside the motor until you get one and you definately do not need to tune the car until then. There is a way to set the NePoints on the AFC but I can't recall. It is definately in the manual...
I agree. My buddy still pulled a 2.0 60' in his FWD on drag radials without a LSD. The car made 340whp/350wtq on the dyno so it wasn't the easiest thing to do but if you work at it long enough you will get it down.
I agree with him. I didn't upgrade my valvetrain when I put my cams in but the talon is not my daily driver. If you rely on your car everyday then I would definately put some springs and retainers in there when you put the cams in.
Absolutely, if he is planning on going with a larger turbo than the 16G then definately go with a larger set of cams. That's why I went with the FP2 cams on the 16G because a 50 trim was in the near future for me. You will really see the gains from a more aggressive cam if you go with a bigger...
I'm not for sure about the wideblock 4G63. That is one of the things that I am going to look into but haven't yet because I am probably not going to stick with the stock tranny.Tell your buddy that he needs to get a significantly bigger turbo if he want to make serious power. The exhaust...
There is a 4G63 wideblock that will bolt directly up to the starquest tranny but they are apparently hard to find. I am going with an adapter plate and either an R154 toyota tranny or an automatic GM tranny. Just depends on which one is more practical. If I decide to part it out I will...
No problem, let me know how it goes. I've actually decided to part my car out. I am thinking about keeping the longblock and putting it in a Starion/Conquest but I haven't made my mind up yet.Installing more aggressive cams will allow the motor to take in more air causing the car to run...
No problem. I just did a lot of research before I bought my cams. I wanted to make sure that I made the right choice so I read everything that I could about which cams make the most power for the setup that I was planning on running.
Looking at the graphs (they aren't that good in quality), the 264/272 combo's torque curve is almost identical to the 272/272 with it just making that extra 11 ft/lbs right as the turbo spools. The horsepower graph is almost identical between the two as well. You can see the graphs on that...
In the test that AMS did they only gained around 1 horspower going with the 272/272 but ended up losing 10 ft/lbs of torque from the 264/272 combo. The minimal horsepower gain is not worth the torque loss in my opinion. If a bigger turbo such as a 50 trim is in the future, then I would go...
The best cam set-up for an EVOIII 16G is FP1/FP2 combo. If you go with a more aggressive cam set-up than that you will shift the powerband higher than the 16G can flow and also end up loosing a ton of torque for a minimal horsepower gain. If I was going to stick with my 16G then I would have...
Definately sounds like the turbo is gone. On every T25 that I have seen running higher than stock boost it hasn't lasted very long. I think MrBoxx hit it on the head.
That a very vague and general question. Generally people swap pistons to change compression not go with a thiner head gasket.Compression ratio depends on what type of set-up you are running and just exactly what you want the car to produce in the end. There are a lot of factors that go...
I'm really surprised that I haven't had any drivetrain problem besides the usually second gear synchro going out. My car is just a toy so I beat the crap out of it when I am at the track since I don't have to drive it to work the next day.
