I have some EBC rotors and pads for sale. All are brand new, never even mounted on a hub. No, I'm not a business and I've been on the site since... jesus I don't know when I got into DSM's, maybe 2002. These are left over from when I was in the scene. I also have an 08 Evo X stock exhaust...
What plugs are you running? Friend had this exact problem and swapped every ignition related component on the car. Come to find out he was running bpr8's. Threw in some 7's and the problem vanished.
I believe the spooling noise you're after is a result of vacuum turbulence. If you buy a GT42R many times it comes with a Velocity Stack to put over the intake port. Without the stack the air has to flow over the sharp lip whereas with the stack the air is being pulled over the rounded edge...
I believe the book time on a 2g clutch is around 5 hours. If you know what you're doing and have a decent set of tools including a compressor it should take you about that in your backyard. With a lift, lots of tools and much experience it can be done in about 2-3 hours.
The ceramics aren't going to be much of an improvement at all. I have put the HPSs on 6 different cars and all got improved braking. Dust is not an issue with the HPS. I put HP pluses on once but they don't work well until they're heated up and they make a lot of noise. They will have your...
I have it. Both wheels are too large for their respective housings. It's not the worst turbo however it loves to surge. The compressor housing is too damn small for obvious reasons. Cams are a must to benefit from the bastard 20g.
2600. Fullface if it's driven on the street and 6 puck if it's track only. Many will say that the clutch is stiff and a pain and yada yada yada. My 100lb sister doesn't have any problem with it. If you've never driven a car with a stiff clutch it'll take a little getting used to but after a...
Tuning with an AFC is like screwing in the back seat of a small car, it can be done but it really doesn't work all that well. You shouldn't have to send the eprom ecu to the US, any electronics repair place should be able to socket a damn eprom slot.
I'm a fan of higher compression but when it comes down to it there is no such thing as opinon in the mechanical operation of a motor. The engine is governed by the laws of physics. There is no "i think". It is or it isn't. You can take the time to learn and find out what is truly best for...
This is not an answer to what you are asking. Having said that I'll give you my opinion. Sell the 1g head. Then spend the money to port your 2nd gen head. Why? Well, without going into details because this has been discussed in depth here on the board, the 2nd gen head is better.
How's your voltage at idle? It should be around 14.1.What are you using to tune? Do you have a wideband? What maf is it? Was it wired in correctly if it's a 2g? Is it a MafT? 272's don't idle all that well on some setups. The o2 is not affected by the ecu or any tuning device, it's...
Do either of you have a means of logging knock or timing? What you guys are describing sounds like phantom knock. Do a search on phantom knock if you don't know what it is, there are numerous causes for it ranging from the timing belt to motor mounts. Get a logger and see if your timing goes...
Always install the wavy seperator ring first before putting the two outer rings on. The wavy ring has a tiny lip in the back that helps keep it in place once the other two rings are in.
The reason it's disputed is because it is possible to put the head on without enlarging the holes. It takes some time and force but it can be done. Just bore them out.
I don't recall if maf compensation was available in v.1. Either way, get v.2, a wideband and map sensor. Calibrate the maft and tune the part throttle to 14.7.
There isn't much to say to this, unfortunately. Guys with similar setups will have their compensations within the relatively same range. A wideband and a means of altering timing would make a world of a difference.
If you go with a gm maft I would suggest you purchase a GM Map sensor and dial in the maf with the maf compensation based on the map sensor. It's a relatively simple process that wil allow you to accurately "calibrate" the maf.
I very much concur. Tuning with a narrowband makes about as much sense as modding a fwd. Zing! Just Kidding. But really, the narrwoband is no good beyond it's intended use which is keeping the closed loop operation as close to stoichiometric as possible.
Do not tune with the stock narrowband o2. While tuning with widebands on many different cars I've seen the narrowband voltage ranging from .6 - .9 when the wideband reported 11.5 afr.
The cable ends are attached to the tranny shift arms by means of rubber grommets. By replacing the rubber isolators with bearings or the like the slop is eliminated and shifting is more precise and accurate. Sorry for the run on sentences.
You tell us if you wrecked the motor. Blowing oil? Losing coolant? Heavy smoke? Clanking? Knocking? Look people, if you hit fuel cut or over boost and realizing it before you run over your crank on the highway then you're good. My point being, if the motor is shot you'll know.
What he said. It's job is to keep tension on the belt. If it doesn't do that properly the belt becomes loose and teeth slip causing all sorts of delightful damage. Usually just bent valves and nicked pistons....nothing big.
You're odds of passing emissions are better with the 450s than with the 660s. You didn't mention a front mount so I'm guessing you're at about 17psi which means your stockers will be fine. You can compensate the 660s with the AFC BUT problems such as fuel cut and timing issues might be...
