Connections...LOL, I have some software I helped design about five years ago that tracks key words and produces direct email reports. Not overly sophisticated by today's google perhaps but for the time it was pretty cagey stuff we came up with.
Hi All,I want to take a moment and cover the mounting of our rear 2G brackets for the Rear Drag Kit.A customer recently had a bracket tear from the mounting bolts which went on to damage the caliper and rotor as well.We don't want anyone to experience this failure now or in the future so...
Just for the record here:1. Changing the master cylinder won't change brake force in and of itself. A smaller bore will make more pressure and have a longer, softer feel to it, some say spongy. A larger bore will make it firmer and require you push harder as it has less pressure. But...the...
For the 1G technically these are TCE/Wilwood kits. The factory 12.2" Wilwood 2G kit will not fit the car without the required modifications. Beyond that other, larger 13" TCE kits are available also.ECLIPSE KITS
The rear would be much lighter except for the required iron hat. I can do one in aluminum. And you can gut the parking brake but save the steel backing plate for simple fit. I'd have to rethink the parts and brackets a bit and see if I could clean it up some that way. Should be doable.The...
I can and have done a couple of things to help this.First I want to openly state that we did not intend this to be a huge staging brake, but rather a light weight brake package. That being said I've opted for larger displacement calipers in the kits the past year or so. This increases the...
Sorry, you're right. I looked vat the +15 which stuck in my head as the wheel size. Still the 12.2 will remain his best overall value for meeting the goals of multi use.
I'll disappoint some by saying there's no such car that will do all those thing real well. Only a car that will be a compromise of how thing should be done. Each use has its own distinct build qualities and demands. That being said so too do the brakes slowing them down. Drag racing and open...
Thinking of converting your car to a dual master cylinder set up?You'll find this new dual mc torque and brake bias calculator tool to be what you want in helping design that new system. Complete with all the things you need to set your parameters it also allows you to "dial in" the bias...
Hats will fit both 4 and five lug. Just need to know the offset you need to see if we're close. How do you measure the hat offset?Total rotor height, less 'rotor' width, less face thickness.
Found some old notes on rear AWD stuff. Don't see anything that did the stock caliper on a relo bracket, all of it looks to be full replacement. Seems to me the issue was trailing arm fit doing much of anything else back there.12.2" rotors with four pot (small bore) calipers.
The main one for that app was for the FWD car. Because of the rear trailing arms it didn't work on the AWD car. Not sure I have any parts to have it done on the AWD...I'll have to look at some old stuff.
Wilwood offers some single action parking brake calipers like the ones shown also.Wilwood High-Performance Disc Brakes - Mech CalipersThey are not single piston, they are 'no' piston. They simply have a pad and a lever arm of sorts to put pressure on the pad(s).They are rather 'cheesy'...
I have a set of them on the shelf. Zinc plated even. $74ea. (UL-32 HP)Great rotors for mild street performance or AX use. Too light for open track day use. A simple and reliable all-around part is all.Can ship 2per on a med FRB for $15(US)
Bolt kit "suggested" but not required. (13.50 per)
Need to get a few more of these in service for my hard core track day guys! Done the same now for the WRX, Eclipse, Mustang...the 13.3 W4/W6A stuffed into a 17" wheel is awesome.
Thought I'd bump this up some as I still have rotors ready for kit production. Shipping would be a few days behind as calipers need to be ordered in. Either way I'm sitting on some parts for anyone thinking about this.
I can supply them if you require it. The only reason I don't do so really is that the Wilwood ones are a full 1" long making them poke through the holes in the surface of the hat. I've put in some shorter .75 parts and have them red loctited. I think I sent a couple with the holes but it's a...
That's three or four questions Bill. But easy enough.Hats are not assembled here or on any of my/Wilwood kits. The ears 'may' be allowed to stay with how the bracket ended up. Hard to say as I had already removed them when wrapping it up. At the least I'd expect some clearance grinding.Yes...
It's some great info and insight from others also. And after all that with some of the connections the Detroit guys have (many of them work for the Big 3) or the high tech things they know about we're still waiting to see some of the proof of existence. So far it's not happened and I'm still...
You have any solid proof to back up that statement?I (and others) have well over $500 for anyone who can prove this. So far after about 7 years now nobody has been able to back up those statements. And trust me...they've tried. Speaking with industry experts, including those outside of...
So based on some quick input and some assumptions I read it at roughly 76/24 which is not all bad. I think if the car is AWD you could exploit a bit more rear still.
Not really. It's market driven; everyone's looking for a bargain and not taking time to do it right. You can get to a streamlined format of the calculator on my web page 24/7.
The correct answer would be; it depends upon the specs of the rear calipers you have now, rotor size and pad in use. AND how that pairs with the front kit.If the rear rotor is larger or the pistons larger (or both?) then you'll have more rear bias than before the rear kit was installed....or...
Shipped out a 1G rear kit today. Questions on the weight come down to a total shipping weight of 22lbs. That means roughly 10lbs per corner of product. A few folks asked for pictures so here they are. Note from the looks of it I may well be able to keep the stock caliper mounts in place, however...
Your thoughts are correct however the means by which I can produce the finished kit in the form you see it now make this option both less costly to produce as well as less "funky" by way of necessary shims, spacers etc. to make it all fit. The actual weight difference is probably less than you...
Recently heard that the entire TCE page for the Eclipse may not be showing properly on Internet Explorer. Not sure why but trust me; it's all there. I'll look into it!
Weight savings should prove substantial. The rotors are quite light yet I believe durable. Overall I think I feel better about this than the original plan for drilling them.No way around the need for minimal wheel spacer given the reduced hat offset vs the 2G kits which are set back farther...
All the questions surrounding the fit of things with a 17" wheel for 'cross use' and nobody has jumped on this deal yet?
I'm surprised.OTHER:
This one's simple. I now have, returned to me, one of the earlier 1G FRONT 11.75 kits with the Dynalite caliper and such. While never in service the...
Remember that dual cylinders require a bore change relative to the end of the car they are used on as well as the piston sizes being use. And to some extent the pedal ratio as well. Neither would be 1" dia.
Took delivery today of more parts for production. Looking at building up an inventory level to handle about six kits. Anyone interested in all this should make the move fairly quickly to get on the list. Right now I'd say we could ship front kits perhaps as soon as the end of next week.Rear...
Bore size will effect both pressure and 'feel'.The smaller the bore the greater the pressure for the given leg input. However the stroke will be longer as well and net 'feel' is softer. The larger bore will generate less pressure for the same given leg input thus making you push harder and...
Thanks Ben. I look forward to hearing from you.Yes, the basis for all the kits would be 11.5 now, not the 11.75 which you have. While I can still do the 11.75 for production reasons across the board it's simply easier to deal with the slightly smaller size. And there's a bit of weight loss...
UPDATE 1/24/11Been a while. I want to let everyone know what's been happening here and what is complete and what is not complete. I know many of you have been waiting (patiently) for news on how all this shakes out so I'm break down the info here in a Front, Rear and Other manner.*Note that...
Hope to have the 1G app wrapped up finally in short order also. Will explain the differences then as well.Rear kits are also being finalized now so both Ben should have some rear pics up in a week or so if all goes well.
True, and thanks to a couple of guys who've helped out a lot along the way.The goal was and remains an 11.75 kit for a number of reasons; rotor options, caliper value, pad life, and more importantly; wheel fit.The 11.75 is common to a lot of drag kits. However the FWD nature of the car...
Not truly 'by design' however the same set ups could be had with the heavier duty UL32-HP or GT castings as well. The only issue as of now appears to be the 1G fit where I believe we'll still be saddled with a minimal wheel spacer due to the required hat offset. The 1G is not as friendly with...
As they say in the big leagues; "it's been adjusted" some.
Nothing is totally firm yet but I'm feeling we're more secure now than before. Also the 1G kits will be a bit higher yet for production needs. Can't say just how much yet.
Well it's been a bit longer than I'd hoped and a bit more of a challenge however the 2G fit of the new drag kit is complete. There are a number of changes in this from where we started and thanks to Ben I hope ti will be installed shortly. The 1G kit remains a bit questionable and I'll work with...
If you'd like them in black ano then yes please do. But let's hold off a bit until we can swap all items for the size change and such as well for only one time. If you want black please let me know, or if you want the rears in matching E-coat let me know that and we can go that way I suspect.
Ahhh. You have the new Platinum E finish parts. Nice stuff really. Doesn't fade in the sun like anodizing does and is impervious to brake fluid unlike powder coating. The rears are anodized having just pulled them out of the box...figures. It looks that I can get the ano fronts to match.
