Ahh ok.... misunderstanding... I thought you meant shaft as a whole shaft assembly (which includes the turbine wheel). :pyea, the shafts will be the same, only different wheel diameters...actually,since you mentioned it... I'm interested to see what your measurements of the exducer and...
aaaaaah, well see that might be it.. Maybe the fact that the turbi was a garret t3/t4 was the reason it wouldn't fit...?I emailed doug at the dyno power website (the first picture), and he said that the manifold he uses in his kit is the 1G turbo manifold and heatshield (2g or evo by request...
That reminds me of a story...My rich grandma used to let me take her M3 down to the carwash on saturdays, wash it, and drive it around on saturday nights. I never raced it because it wasn't my car, but I'd always load up some friends and go cruising. Well, I was about to head home, and I was...
so my turbo, which had alot of miles at the time, just magically started pouring oil and water out the compressor the same moment I put the non vented catch can in?
You bet your ass high oil pressure can blow out old/wornout seals in a turbo..Please, dude.. I don't know what...
are you sure? I did some poking around on the internet and I found what looks to be a 4g63 turbo manifold and 16G on a 3g..Engine Picture 1 (4g63 turbo manifold)
Turbo and Manifold Pic*edit* I'm looking for someone who has attempted this, or has done this..
Does your car overheat easily? Keep an eye on your coolant level.I'm putting my money on the excessive crankcase pressure blowing your turbo seals. The keywords you gave were "only when boosting". I did the same thing once (forgot to drill a vent hole in my home made catch can), and it blew...
With new valves, yes, but the lifters can only compensate for so much. There is a threshold with which the valve stem installed height should be, and if you've ever had your valve face ground or valve seat cut, your valve stem installed height will definately need to be changed. Too much height...
well, she lives in an apartment and it's simply impractical to tear her manifold off too see if this one fits.. just wondering if anyone else has done such a thing.
I have a friend with a 2001 eclipse GS with the 4g64 sohc. We got to talking, and I told her that I have an extra 1G turbo manifold laying around. Will It fit on her car?
This is a great post with plenty of information and pictures. Hopefully it will eliminate all questions about HIDs on DSM's, and threads such as This one, specifically post #20 and #23
That's a nice looking second gen.. looks like you had alot of money into it... what kind of motor setup?SCCA is good if you like driving around cones in parking lots at 35 mph. More intense racing is on road courses such as hallett, oak hill, and motorsport ranch. I'm partial to road racing...
I've always thought about making some inserts that go into the 1g BOV return that make it squeal like the HKS bov. Kind of like those little whistle tips those tards put in their exhaust tips. I bet people would buy them for 5$ a pop.
Something is wrong if you have enough side to side rod play to cause an engine knock. what did your plastiguage tell you?I built a motor once that was turned .010/.010 on the crank. I put the right bearings in it and I had the same problem as you (locked up motor). It turns out that instead...
what are your rings gapped at? (just wondering).I'd avoid driving the car if at all possible until you get the gas problem solved. Gas in your oil will eat your bearings up quick, and if you're running that rich you might be at risk of burning your rings up.I'm obviously not helping on...
an off duty cop can't call in anything if he's not on duty.Everyone is forgetting that most every police car has a Camera in it. If he was behind you, caught you swerving around, but he wasn't in the situation to be able to pursue you, He can take the video to court as evidence and you will...
I'm sure since you watched the show that you saw that they Assembled the carbs and put them on the car cold turkey without a base tune. They also put the nos on without Any tuning. They didn't spend Any time on tuning.OF course they're gonna run that slow time, they're not tuned. Did you...
You're putting new rings in without a hone on the cylinder walls???prepare for alot of blowby, smoke, and low compression numbers. It seems like it would be More of a pain in the ass if you Didn't at least hone the cylinder walls. You're gonna wish you took the extra time to do it right.
Just wondering if it was possible to enlarge the holes on the mounting tabs on the 420a cam angle sensor, and rotate it to adjust the timing like you would on a 4g63?
noooooo.... don't use synthetic for breakin. Use dino oil for the first few thousand miles. Synthetic oil will keep the rings from seating, and you will wear off your crosshatch before your rings form shape.Your engine breakin is the most critical in the first 50 or so miles. Within these...
or you can get an hx40 for about 200-250 and another 220 for the bullseye turbine housing. That way you won't have to spend 1$, then 400 more $ on an hx35 if you're gonna upgrade it. :)
Miss Cleo predicts..... much flaming in this thread... be aware!I'd think they would fit, but look at the specs for aftermarket rims for an s2000 and see if they're similar to a dsm. If they are, i'd gander they will fit.
I've been eye-ing the megasquirt'nspark system for a while now. If I can get some extra money, I'm gonna try and wire one up and wire it in as a standalone.Check out the features
Oh, and the system costs as much as an AFC. :)
post 51 has a link that tells the compressor wheel size of the turbo. I think it's 58m. I think the turbine might be 70 mm, but I don't know if that's right.
^ I don't know what psi to run it at on a stock motor, but the HX35 is Quite a big step up from a B16G. The HX35 is capable of 500 hp, and is almost the exact same as a 60-1.
yeah, velodyne probably makes the most accurate bass systems ever. It reflects on their price.I couldn't have said it better myself. :thumb:
Tuning the enclosure for in-vehicle response is a key to having a flat response. Although this yields an even frequency response for RTA metering, it...
There are some cars that come with pretty good bends on their stock exhausts.. you can find good bends with even diameters on 98+ dodge ram trucks and on alot of other v8 equipped vehicles. Alot are 2.5" and perfect for ic pipes. New tahoes/denalis come stock with a 3" mandrel bent exhaust, and...
not 100% true.. I've built some 4g63's with turned cranks, and none of them have failed. If there is enugh hardened material on the outside .010" of the journal to where the crank would break if it wasn't there, then our engines shouldn't even be capable of idling without breaking a crank...
but how do you know I wouldn't need to look at them? What If I'm doing research (Example) on holset turbos, and I want to see if anyone on nabr is running holset turbos?
I have a friend on nabr that will search for me, and he copies/pastes me the posts from the threads he finds for me, but...
There are only two turbos on that list (h1c and variations, and hx/hy35 and variations), and neither will reach full boost at 3k rpm. Look elsewhere if you want full boost at 3k.^^ The HX40 has a bigger compressor wheel and housing than the hx/hy35. It's not a variation, but rather a...
if you're building an engine and you have good mechanical/automotive experience, just make sure to prep your mating surfaces, be generous with the lube, measure twice, and torque in steps.
If you're looking to be happy with your front stage, ditch your rear fill and buy the good 4 chan amp. Use the front channels on your front stage, and when you're happy, buy a small 10" low power sub to bridge on the rear channels of the amp.Rear Fill Pollution
My girlfriend has one in her car. It's definately a good amp, but I wouldn't rely too much on the 5th channel to give out much power. We have it running her front components biamped, and a single JL 8w0 .
Aaaaaactually, the car Wasn't produced. It was made as a prototype that was sent off to get approved by mits. for production. Since it Didn't get approved for production, That makes it a prototype; a One of a kind prototype. It's a bastard. I think that's enough to make it a collectible. My...
Same thing happened to me once. The bottom bolt that holds the Tbelt tensioner on is in an oil galley. I used a bolt with a washer on it, and it leaked through and dripped oil straight onto the tbelt.
This is why people need to take their head to a shop to do a valve job. I'm not flaming you, but That's the exact reason you're having this problem.1. Lapping in a valve is Not a good way to do a valve job. A Proper valve job requires cutting the seat with a surdi machine and re-grinding...
yeah, all of the port velocity with smaller size runners is void when you throw a turbo into the mix. If I was gonna build an N/A 4g63, I would put on a 2G head and smooth out the edges in the intake runners.
Oh my God.. Adsorbing information from websites, and preaching it all at the same time. None of us are claiming that the car is worth endless amounts of money. It's the fact that It's the only car like it in existance, A.K.A. "one of a kind", that makes it a collector car.Don't make...
