Tri doesnt race anyone. Nor did he even drive his own Supra... Other people drove it for him. As far as his Black Edition goes, I havent raced him yet but Im looking forward to doing so. Sounds like it would be fun.I went to hwy 100 in 02-07' with a few guys from up here. Unfortunately the...
I went with my DSM's when I was 16-18... Now I've grown up. Only reason I would go now is to run Tri's GTR or any big power guy for $$.
But seriously, who goes to highway anymore?
Yea but Tim's car keeps breaking. So he's never a threat. jkLove u Tim!Im really looking forward to seeing this long block assembled. I shot of the turbo setup mounted outside of the car is a must.
I would swap that amazon.com intercooler out for an ETS unit or at least an EVO FMIC. I would guarantee positive results. But yes, nice torque numbers. What cams do you have scott?
thank you, im simply stating that the setup is basic and not to over think it. no need to go get 264's right now, he doesnt need to get an SMIM right now.
that was my point...
Well... 2g pistons would net you an 8.5:1 cr. Since your staying 7 bolt I would just use a set of EVO 8 rods/pistons and an EVO 8 crank. At the very least throw a set of 1g cams in, 1g intake mani with a bored and rebuilt TB. That motor will last and will hold up to gobs of power. HTA68's can be...
Im going to jump in here because I would like to see this become more technical. I understand there needs to be competition in the parts world but here is my take. I have zero experience with VRSF or Buschur so I will not slander them in any way. I have had ETS setups on both my VR4 build and my...
I too have the MAP rods pushing some 10.5:1 slugs around! I think i was equally impressed by the box they showed up in as i was the rods themselves. LOL!Was cool to see that they are mfg. by Howards here in WI . Hooray!Good build btw.
congrats on the save! first things first, do not refer to these cars as DSM's! Its a stupid pet peev of mine and many others that are die hard GVR4 enthusiasts. I dont want to sound like an SRT4 owner here but come on. ;)
Also, if you ever need help, PM me. Im in WI as well and have some parts...
you will enjoy them! i started my car for the first time last year on the old setup and she ran under her own power with a poor baseline. The linearity of these injectors is sooooo smooth.
^^ a tissue near by usually remedies sweaty hands on a slippery knob.Great thread man, have been watching it for a while now and abslutely love how clean it is.
I dont want to muck this up but I think a used MHI 16g or even 14b would have been a better choice than that cheap eBay stuff. Even a 2g manifold would have been more cost effective and more efficient than that XS manifold. Just trying to give you pointers for down the road. Not trying to be...
To the OP, I would consider upgrading to rear disc and at the same time going to the Outlander/AWD Big Brakes on the front. If you know someone with a welder or any local fab shops, have them make you a >functional< intake and exhaust. I would imagine the front suspension to be similar to all...
Lame that they wont try to point you in the right direction... We called Sound Performance during our 2jz build and asked a few questions in regards to the ACL x-series bearings we are using and they pointed us down the right path.Like I previously stated though, I have the 1400HD e85...
^^ I was waitng for this to be tackled. What inclines you to "NEED" stickier tires?Be careful of DR's as they arent as sticky as slicks, so they tend to slip and grip which causes a lot of stress on the diff's. Thats how they grenade.I have a set of Hoosiers wrapped around some FD...
I called Wiseco as I am using the same pistons. They told me to NEVER refer to the sheet that is included as an "actual" guideline. Talk to a reputable engine shop or your personal builder.I gapped my own rings and am running a .019 and .024
Extremely bold statement and I strongly disagree, but... good looking car nonetheless. Will be interested in REAL photos when its all said and done.
Best of luck.
I sent a few emails also with no reply. This was in May though...Tim, do you know if he offers a 4" downpipe? I read a mentioning of said downpipe on his site but with no pictures.
Investing in a set of motor mounts/inserts to prevent wheel hop. A good LSD in the trans. (contact twicks69). A nice clutch setup, if you have the funds go twin disc otherwise a simple ACT 2600-3200 will suffice. Upgrade the chassis/suspension bushings with some Prothane or billet ones. i would...
This thread has been full of fail since the beginning, only one useful post this far that FINALLY tackled the fact that your FWD turbo car will need a larger focus on trans and suspension setup. Too much misinformation already IMO.Focus on getting the power TO the ground. Start small and...
I know that the FD wheels fit with at least a 20mm spacer. 16x8's
MKIV Supra N/A wheels fit with at least 20mm spacer. 16x8 and 16x9
16x8 TE37's fit but I am unsure of needed spacing and/or offset
16x8 Slips may fit as wellSorry to bring back from the dead but this is a useful topic.
High compression build here with a low 9 second goal in mind.I had my machine shop get a torque plate made. The way I see it, with the amount of money spent on my build I would much rather have the peace of mind knowing that all the parts are true and tolerances are EXACTLY where they...
Fvck me...
Awesome build, I enjoyed watching your progress on the galant board. Makes me miss my old car in a way.
Are you going to be at the MAP Proving Grounds Event?Cullen
wranglerunner,
this is GRCRY GTTR from the WiDSM forum. In my build thread on there, I went through the same decision. For me and my goals with the car, it was extra piece of mind. So I went to C&S Performance in Butler, WI and we had a torque plate made up for the 4G63 motors. I split cost...
I second that motion...Im in the process of doing a 10.5:1 build and plan on making big numbers. the half compression point isnt going to make that big of a difference. run it on e85... :hellyeah:
Synergy Tuning huh? I didnt think he was still around. LOL!I agree with Tim. Beyond Redline in Green Bay is where my car will be going. Luke also explains things to you which very helpful. :thumb:
its not really a corner. i will have to get some pics up to show you guys how I'm doing this.
the crazy part is, I was welding some 14ga. just to see where my hands were at as far as steadiness goes, and everything was peachy. i will try and snap some pics and then we can go from there...
I had heat up over 70 at first and when i realized that i dropped it down to about 53-54. I couldnt even get a puddle as it just burned through right away, or I could get a puddle to start on either piece but once i tried to join them is when it burned through. I even lightly applied pressure to...
I should have been more clear, my apologies. As soon as I got out of the shop I was very bothered by how things went in the last few mins of me trying to tack the box together, so I posted from my phone.I am not welding onto the tank at the moment. I am just tacking the sump box together. I...
Im building a sump box for my stock tank. I am using 16ga steel sheets. The sides are all made up and the back and bottom piece i managed to keep all one piece by just bending it. I went to tack it and the two ends got tacked fine but when i went to tack near the corners... bam! It blew through...
If are desperate to speak with local guys log onto WiDSM.orgContact the guys at ECMLink and get a username setup. A log will say more than this whole thread did. Too much bickering going on in this thread to get any real headway.PM me with your contact info. As you have noticed by now...
First things first, you HAVE to thoroughly inspect your crank for wear as already mentioned. There are small imperfections that can cause a crank to require a cut but you should at least get it polished if it checks out good. Magnafluxing it wont hurt either
I just got my rotating assembly back...
