I have a 92 TSI I bought last year as a project, well I have been driving it more and want to get the body parts etc back on it. :DIf you are parting out a 92 TSI Let me know.Mark.
Update II: First I want to thank everyone for their input and advice. The issue has been resloved, it was the spark plug wires. We swapped them out and it runs like a champ, just need to get the transmission swapped out and put all the body parts back on!
Update: I know it has been awhile, but it has been a busy summer for me. BUT I got the new EVO monifold and crush washer in the car a few weeks ago. I am working on getting this thing running. BTW I got the new crush washers from a place called House of Hose, a lot cheaper than what the Mistu...
Thanks, I think eventually I will get the manifold ported, right now I am at the troubleshooting stage as I just picked up the car. I thnink all the cracks in the manifold might have been what was causing my boost issues. ;)
Yes I was talking about the ring between manifold & turbo, I can't wait to get this thing on the cracks were huge on the bottom half of my old manifold. dsmfa9nutter thanks for the link that was the exact page I was hoping to see. I won't sweat the ring then!It looks like the previous gasket...
OK so I got the new exhaust delivered yesterday, I got my old cracked 1G mani removed only to find out that the previous owner did not put the exhaust gasket ring back in it. I was wondering where I can get this from, and do I need to go to a dealer?Should I just get the OEM exhaust and...
I plan on checking the plugs/wires throughout the week as time permits, the car probably won't move until the weekend anyway. As for the manifold I need to make a descision on whether or not to upgrade! :thumb:I have killed a trubo or two in my day, so I will get that oil leak fixed.
YUP when mine finally broke free, I hears a loud pop like I broke something and there it was begging to come off... :hellyeah: I hope you get it, I remember my frustration. Ha Ha
I went thru the same thing on my first 92 TSI, tried everything and I just so happened across 8" 3 Jaw Reversible Puller for $10.00 at a local used tool store. ;) It fits around the whole disc and was pretty easy with an impact wrench. I am sure you can get the same result with a cheater bar...
OK I got it so I can control the boost, I am running it at 10PSI for now because it is stuttering around 11PSI. So now I will check double check for boost leaks, I am also losing oil at the feed line from the block to the turbo on the turbo side. (must fix that too) It looks like my exhaust...
I appreciate the input, It seems to be working correctly. Thanks for the link, it helps a lot I am a visial learner. I origionally had the boost gauge tap where you suggested it will go back there ASAP.I moved the MBC yesterday, it was getting to hot to handle and I was worried about...
I can't even get ot 5K RPM without this thing boosting near 15PSI at chich point the car starts acting stupid. Yes my fuel injectors are stock. Yes MBC is tapped into the BOV Line. And NOW the boost gauge is tapped into the intake for now. See pic below.I have to be doing something...
UPDATE:OK I got the eBay FPR off, I am using the stock FPR, (the car seems to run a lot better) from what I understand on the diy MBC write up, turning counter clock wise is supposed to give you less boost right? Well this is the weird part. when taking off from a dead stop in first my...
Found this which was also a big help to me. I am going to get crackin on this in the AM if the weather holds up. ;) There is a link on that page that shows how to adjust the MBC which I was glad to see.The "D.I.Y." Manual Boost Control
GREAT, that is the kind of info I was hoping to get. I want to put all the stock parts back on it (after I locate them) and start from Zero, thank god this is not my DD. :D :thumb:Again thanks for the input everyone.
OK so here is my car... I just picked up someone else' project. Unfinished of course. :thumb:1992 Eagle Talon TSI AWD 2.0L Turbo. ($1500.00)Newly rebuilt motor (about 1000 miles) with:
ARP main bolts, rod bolts, head bolts
2G Pistons on 1G rods, Total Seal rings
lightened flywheel...
WOW I wish I could have seen the pics... I have been looking for a AWD and all there are around here are FWD... I have a wrecked AWD in the yard and thought it would be just a matter of swapping parts. LOL Nice job!
Hey I hope ou get your issue fixed, mine was doing the same thing before it blew! I thought I could get away with driving it for a little while and kaboom. lol
UPDATE: Well the turbo is trashed, there was bout 1/8" play in the turbine, the blades were all tore up.I found a T28 Turbo a couple hundred miles away, it has maybe 500 miles on it, I am just going to bolt on and go. (hopefully) :) Thanks to all for you input and offers.
Well the minute I saw the level so low, I decided to not run the car any longer, I did not want to seize the motor. Luckily a friend of mine happened by in his truck and had a tow rope. I guess I will have to get a better look in the day light. I hope it is just the turbo as I have found one...
OK so I bought my 95 Eagle talon TSI AWD about a week ago. The guy I bought the car from was upfront about the turbo issues. (oil seal leak) The car has a 6bolt swap and currently has a T25 Turbo (2G) Well in the mean time I have been driving the car, careful not to boost it too much and keeping...
:thumb: That is exactly the problem I was having with my 92 TSI, it would go from 14 to 11...at this point everything is stock except the cut aircan... Sometimes it would boost hard and other times it would act like a NT 4 Cyl... My car had a 14b that came with the JDM motor I had installed...
Maybe the best thing to do would be to find and extra one to play with in case it didn't work out... :D I was thinkin about getting some of those tiny fog lights and mount them in the two sections in the middle somehow... would be a helluva project... and right the urethane could be an issue...
Hey I was thinking about splitting (horizontally) the front bumper of my Talon where the little crease goes from side to side (about 2in)... as to give it a lowered look but not having a wild looking piece of fiber glass on it. :D has anyone else tried this? if so do you have pics? Thanks.
Well it has been in four other cars. ;) LOL It may be time to look into another deck. Oh well, I guess for the most part expected this after all the checks were completed. :thumb:Thanks for all the help guys!
Dang had the alternator and battery checked and the ground seems fine but it still cuts out intermittantly after 16 or 17 on the volume. Dang maybe the stereo is hosed. It seemed to happen when the radiator fan was on... hmmmm
Oh I am sorry. the stereo cuts off like it lost power. The other time it went off it acted like it lost the connection to the battery that keeps the clock settings etc.
okay this started a few weeks ago, and I am noticing different things affecting the stereo. Sometimes it will be the dome lights and the break lights there were times when I open the hatch, well I guess that would be the dome light. I have the stereo connected with a pre made connection from...
My 92 TALON AWD TSI died on me yesturday, it was already dark so I didn't bother to look at it until this morning, well I went to turn it over the see what was going on and I could see all the other belts turning but the timing bet and gears are not moving. I didn't hear any weird noise or have...
Pulled the stereo and there it was the orange wire to the dash light dimmer I believe... gawd I felt so stupid... checked all of the lights etc... THANKS for the help on suggesting the stereo area. LOLMark:thumb:
I was reading a manual a minute ago and was thinking the same thing about the remote for my amp, going to check it out at first thing in the morning. Thanks
My 92 Talon TSI keeps blowing the fuses to the tail lights, I switched the 2 black fuse looking things in the engine compartment for the tail and fog lights it seemed to work for awile but now it is blowing the 10A fuse again. Has anyone else seen this problem? Thanks:talon:
Okay last week I noticed the dash lights weren't working in my 92 Talon TSI, I thought no big deal I will look at it whe I get a chance. Well I did and realized that the tail light didn't work either and the fuse in the engine compartment was blown. well when I put a new fuse in the same thing...
