Ha ha, define practicality. I have no interest in doing anything but driving this car down the 1/4 and an occasional ride thru town. I have other toys for the street. As for the evo thing, I don't know who came up w/ that...I was going to put the alternator on the axle but I changed my...

Your right on all counts. I had to redesign the fitting to get enough vacuum at low RPM's and that actually turned into more problems. I think that's why this idea was left alone by others a long time ago but I'm the type that just has to find out for myself.

Agreed to an extent, but when volume conflicts with packaging one must make compromises. I will say the major change I would make with the next one would be to build large radius' on the back edges. That's about it. Like I said though, I was in the process of validating the runner design and not...

I'm glad you guys like it. I know it's a shame to leave the thing sit. I need to rebuild the engine now before I can run it again. I never did get this setup to the track either... I started a type of fabrication business that has completely consumed my life for a while now. I think maybe this...

Hey guys, I used to post on here years ago and I kind of got off track with a business I started. I haven't touched my car for like three years and I never totally finished it but I thought some people might like to see what I did to it...I put more pics up with some description on this...

    Question about Retarding Exhaust Cam

From my experience I haven't found much gains in adjusting the intake cam with a stock intake manifold. If it's a custom designed intake it is possible to adjust resonance tuning to an extent. You can sometimes gain a little by playing with the exhuast one though and I think it's definately...

? About Power Supply to ECU

That is some very good information. Thank you. I'm going to go out and start going through these things.I'm definately aware there can be many other problems as well. I started by swaping out every other part in the entire spark ignition system to no avail. Once I realized I wasn't getting...

? About Power Supply to ECU

Hmm, I guess I will pull the cover off this ECU and take a look. The only thing is that I already tried another ECU that was believed to be OK and nothing changed. I will check again though.I also, out of curiousity, went out and checked the MPI Relay plug of a running car and got all of...

? About Power Supply to ECU

I could use some help here guys. I've got a car here that will crank over but there seems to be no power to the ECU. No spark, no injector pulse. I'm getting the switched power through the MPI relay. And on the plug into the ECU I'm getting power to what the diagram calls the 'Power Backup" and...

    ACCUFAB THROTTLEBODY 75mm HELP!!!!!

I had planned to just play around w/ the wiring until I got it. So I guess I'm on the right track. I had thought about putting a stopper under the pedal as someone else mentioned but I think I would rather modify my linkage so I can keep the full pedal movement.I have the day off today to...

    ACCUFAB THROTTLEBODY 75mm HELP!!!!!

I'm actually setting up a 75mm BBK right now. Can you tell me how you wired yours to save me some time please? Also, did you have to alter the throttle linkage on yours? It seems mine has about a 1/2" smaller radius. Which puts the pedal only half way down at full throttle. Thanks.Andy

Oil return pump for low-mount turbo

Hmm, I think I might have seen some of those Volvo's on Ebay. But I ended up going w/ a Tilton anyways. I didn't want to screw around anymore because I'm out of time. So I just bought a new one. Thanks.Andy

Oil return pump for low-mount turbo

I'm wondering if anyone has any other sources to go to for a low flow, low volume electric oil pump I could use on my return line from my turbo. As it is now mounted lower than the oil pan I need a way to get the oil back up. So far all I've found is a Tilton electric pump used for rear...

    fuel setup question

From what I can tell you're running -10 line to the front so... You'll need -8 to -10 male to male unions coming out of the cell w/ an -10 hose end. Then 4 -10 male-to male unions for the pump and the filter then you'll need 4 -10 hose ends for the ends of the lines be it straight, 90°, 45°...

    fuel setup question

What on EARTH could you want here? My goodness, just pick up a friggin' Summit or Jegs, look up what you need, and buy it. If your building a race car and don't know know how to select JIC fittings to put a fuel system together you are in for alot of heartache. And I won't even talk about the...

HEY! that's my water box!!! :DSeriously though, the techs are all power tripping nazi's at Martin for the most part. I've never once been told to go home though, and my car is more modded than alot of the DSM's I've seen there. Just do your mods right and play dumb w/ the techs and you'll...

    Maximum Turbo Tilt Angle

Hmm, interesting. Is that for a BB center, or standard? I'm planning on trying to keep the shaft angle to a minimum and the return hole will be easy. Thanks for your input!Andy

    Maximum Turbo Tilt Angle

OK, that's about what I had in mind. Gonna try to keep it below 30° and not worry about it. Thanks!Andy

    Maximum Turbo Tilt Angle

Does anyone here have any factual information on the maximum tilt angle a turbo can be mounted on and still maintain proper draining and all. I'm talking about the angle of the shaft in relation to flat ground if I need any clarification. I'm dealing w/ a standard bearing T04. Thanks.Andy

    Took out my power steering.

Well it is for weight, 20+lbs. And essentially it does free up a little power by not working the pump. But it also improves the feel at high speeds. At least my car got rather twitchy at 100+mph.
  22. silverbulletAWD

    Took out my power steering.

It's a piece of cake w/ the engine out. I took me less than an hour. With the engine in it is a bit tougher but by no means impossible. The only added difficulty is getting the steering shaft seperated from the rack.www.car-parts.comIf you pay over $100 dollars for one, before you...

    4G63/G54/6G72 Adapter Plates

Morphius, You might want to talk to Horsepower House too. They run a Conquest w/ a 63 and a Powerglide. He told me that they were putting together a kit too. Didn't know prices then but that was last fall.

He means arms like Popeyes' pinky, lol. :pI too removed my PS last winter and drove last season w/ a manual rack and a spooled center diff. Between the two, it's tough to park in a tight spot and simultainiuosly maintain my undenialby cool image  ... Anyways, It should be even worse...

    Vacuum Pumps

That doesn't really tell me that much. I was running an exh. vac. setup last season on my silver car (w/ full exh. and muffler). I did alot of experimenting in the spring w/ the vac. pipe in the down pipe and got a design to actually pull some vac. at idle. Unfortunately, I was sucking all of...

Clutch pedal connection to master cylinder.

You've got to look all the way over past the gas pedal. Just follow the bar that the clutch pedal is mounted on to the other side of the assembly. There should be a pin that goes through and a clip that goes on the end. It's all but encased in a metal frame and a total pain to get at.

    Hondata Intake Spacer

I'm glad you posted your results. Thank you, I've been waiting. The sealing issue is my biggest concern. I'll be calling Hondata shortly to see if they could make me one w/o the port holes cut in so I can transfer my new ones and cut my own. This should save me alot of hassle in reassembly this...

Generic SS Valves vs name brand SS Valves

    Adjustable Cam Gear Choice

For what its worth, I've run the OBX's for the last two seasons with no functional problems at all. 6-Stroke Isovolumetric Engine

I think you pretty much stated my opinion for me :) . But like I said, just thought it was interesting and maybe some of these guys might think the same. It's good to excercise the brain with "outside-of-the-box" thinking every once and a while ;) .Andy

    VRP Tubular Manifold

It has some good info in a few different areas dealing with turbos/superchargers. However most of the books meat is made up of non-density specific info. It is by no means written for the beginner (Not that I think you are ;) ) I highly recommend it. Oh, if you look it up on Amazon.com you can...

    VRP Tubular Manifold

I see..., Once again MNGSX brings some good info to the table, and once again I thank you. I don't know how you find some of this stuff, It really is quite impressive... You must have more spare time than I do. ;)I always just figured that by timing the negative wave to reduce backpressure...

    VRP Tubular Manifold

So you're saying I'm on the right track?Sounds like an interesting book, maybe I'll have to read that one next. I just started working on "Internal Combustion Engine Fundementals" by John B. Heywood. It's like 900+ pages so I'll be awhile. It's definately a good one though.

    VRP Tubular Manifold

Could I please get some links to those collectors. Burns' prices are pretty high but I agree that a good collector is neccesary for maximum performance.MNGSX - I'd like to see some proof that equal length runners are for NA applications only and that they couldn't really help a turbo engine...

Finally, a simple and effective boost creep solution: W/ a sketch now

So have you verified that this works on a problem car yet? Have you verified the actual gain in flapper travel? It does look almost to good to be true, but if you've found a simple solution for a common problem then I commend you.

I'm just not sure if I agree w/ that. I was running high 11's last fall w/ a race weight of 3120lbs. I've never dyno'd it so I can't say for sure but I think it was making around 370-400whp.

Hondata heatshield gaskets released for DSM's

So your saying it takes a SMIM, a tubular exh. mani. and something better than a S-AFC w/ a 2g MAS to make 300whp?

Yup, I can't keep up with this thread. It seems I'm in a race with a major DSM shop for a new development. Hmm, wonder who's got the advantage? Oh well, as long as I'm running with them I'll be happy.

    Please help with Cyclone

I'm sure you'll do just fine with your 1g sized head and I see your logic now. The 1g is what 99% of these guys run. I'm kind of diving in deep here this winter and doing something that as far as I know of has never been done. Around here it seems most think the bigger the better. I've got some...

    Please help with Cyclone

Wow this thread is really moving. I was just going to walk out to the shop to measure a 1g TB because I was sure it was 60mm. Thanks for saving me the trip!It seems like both elbows have their flaws so why not just get a decent aftermarket and be done w/ it ya know? I guess hogging out a 2g...

    Please help with Cyclone

I'm actually laughing out loud right now. While someone is hogging out a 2g head to the size of a 1g I'm switching to a 2g head for my 1g and even adding material to that. The irony is killing me. I've got a stack of 1g's here, we could have just traded heads.

Hondata heatshield gaskets released for DSM's

Oh, I'm not confused about it. I'm just debating its value. I was talking about the intercooler in response to some ones "reverse intercooler" comment. You know what I mean? Find an intercooler, or a radiator for that matter, with out the external fins and tell me how well the thing cools. Not...

Hondata heatshield gaskets released for DSM's

I'm with you on this one. There's no doubt that a phenolic spacer will make a manifold more comfortable to fondle. j/k. But, How much heat is actually transferring to the air in the millisecond it passes through the manifold. No one has really addressed that in any detail yet. An open runner is...
