Most importantly and not discussed is building the car to the specific class you plan on running in autocross. Also how can suspension mods be irrelevant on a car being built "like an autocross car"? I am not trying to discourage you but realize that all these mods will put in street mod and...
Maybe I am asking the obvious, will running a tank of gas not clean it out? How many people have had theirs clog up? What about flex fuel vehicles? Dose GM just expect folks to take cars in for fuel injector cleaning periodically?
DGs Autocross Secrets aka Autocross to WinGrab a beverage and start reading. For the record I went with koni yellows with GC coilovers with custom spring rates. It handles night and day difference from stock. Honestly, tires will make a significant improvement as well. There is plenty to...
Honestly, nothing new has been stated in this thread. If you have to ask how to find the ecu because you haven't searched the forum, then you should ask yourself if you have the motivation to actually work on your car when it needs it. These are cars that require regular maintenance when...
8x1.25 are for manifold to head. I am no sure from the original post if he needs those or the turbo to manifold bolts. 10x1.25 are needed for turbo to manifold bolts. Stock replacements are available from extreme psi and others for turbo to manifold bolts. Manifold to head available from...
Ground control sleeves are 2.5" springs vs 2.25" springs on the koni sleeves. So technically ground control would be heavier. I do not know how much though. As far as the snap ring groove, my local machine shop wanted a ton of money to machine new ones. I ordered 7" springs from gc for the...
Yes. Jpipe is a generic term for the kind of pipe that connects to the 14b compressor outlet. The orientation determines what it is used for. Most jpipes that are aftermarket go straight down thus would work for a FMIC. Some aftermarket and OEM 1g jpipes are angled to the passenger side of...
30 amps is fine for the amperage, however the smaller wires inside the solenoid have failed before. The bosch solenoids on ebay are cheap and have larges wires inside the solenoid.
You should rewire it in such a way that it has a jumper that can be connected to bypass the solenoid. Also you should buy the big relay off of ebay not the small one at radioshack. Also I have about 5 years 30k miles on a small solenoid on a rewired 255 with bolt on FPR.
Threadlock that is an hour drive away is a tough decision. Personally I would go, but I have learned time and again that shortcuts don't work well on our cars and never rush to finish a job(,ie. snapped flywheel stud and extractor in stud.)I would search and try to find what works for...
The 2g mani will definitely bumpt you out of stock. Switching the 2gbov to a 1gbov bumps you out etc. Even removing the bcs restrictor is not allowed in stock. Just have fun and run in the class that you fit. I am in SM and would not be competitive if I spent 10k$ because in the end we have...
I had the same problem when I installed mine. It turns out that when the clutch over disengages(bear with me), the pressure plate goes back towards the flywheel engaging the clutch disc again. I put one wheel on the ground while a friend pressed the clutch pedal with the transmission in gear...
Rewiring the fuel pump is too easy not to do it. Also RX7 rims are 16x8 available, pretty lightweight, and will fit with a small spacer. A ported 2g manifold is a solid investment as long as you plan on porting the 14b to match. Also I didn't know if you had see this site but it is a pretty...
Really just watch classifieds and ebay for a 14b before FMIC. I ran one with the stock SMIC. It was a huge upgrade compared to what you can expect from a t25 on a FMIC.
Having spend way too much money on an old car, I can say that the first thing I learned was to do maintenance. A '95 is now about 13yrs old. Hows that coolant, brake fluid, etc look? Fluids cost money to replace but are an integral part of the whole picture. When was the timing belt...
Thanks for taking the time to make available this and all the other information for everyone. It's rare in this day and age to find quality information like this in a single source. I appreciate your efforts.
Yeah I was really slow with a good line or plowing and killing street tires. I think somewhere in between will come with seat time...and suspension/tire/rims.
Well I just went autocrossing for the first time on Sunday. Wow is an understatement. I drove from Jackson over to Shreveport to meet the Red River SCCA group that morning. The group of guys was awesome and made me feel very welcome. The bad is that I desperately need seat time and I was in...
Wow looks awesome. I really like the color too. When you finish the build and have a few minutes of free time would you mind doing a write up of your paint job? It came out awesome.
I laughed out loud. As I was reading it, I was trying to remember what burnt clutch smelled like and remembered as I read it.I obviously need to go buy some black ice just to see what i smells like.
EXTREME PSI : Your #1 Source for In Stock Performance Parts - ACT MaXX Xtreme Pressure Plate : Mitsubishi Eclipse 90-99Great company and always ships my stuff super quick.
Nothing can prevent crankwalk. If there was a solution everyone wouldn't be swapping in 6bolts. There are many theories and many "solutions" available from engine makers. The definitive answer is to swap to a 6bolt. For the record 135,xxx on my 96 without crankwalk.
False. All pressure plates are the same regardless of FWD or AWD, 6 or 7 bolt. The difference is in the ring gear and flywheel itself. The four puck is a pretty serious disk. I have the 2900 and sprung six puck. It grabs like none other but chatter is intense in stop and go traffic...
Hard on the synchros? I had a CM2500 and now have the 2900 with the sprung six puck. It enagages hard, however everyone expects that from a six puck. The more you slip it the harder it tries to grab so be prepared to never drive in stop and go traffic because of serious chatter. I will just...
Also 52$ for shipping is a boost gauge etc...Extremepsi has 7.50 flat rate shipping except for fluids. They have always been good to me too. Maintenance is number one on our cars. People don't do it and they end up on ebay blown motor, half diassembled, and wiring harness cut to pieces to...
Grabs like a mofo. No problems though. It will still hit the fingers if I mash it down. It got to be a little chattery so I revved it up and slipped it really hard a few times and its better now. How about you?
I think you've missed a large part of what the DSM community Raph is. It's always been a try it first kind of community. He has realistic expectations, seems to have more than enough knowledge, has the financial resources and time, and most importantly probably truly enjoys working on this and...
Yeah it will. I first installed it with a street disc. It's the exact same center as the six puck. Nice time btw. I wanted to run last night but hte strip was closed because of the possibility of rain I guess. Hopefully I can run soon.
Opinions are like assholes man. I was trying to be thorough. I think that its important for people to realize that it is not always "my master cylinder isn't screwed out enough."
The car should be turned off. Then put the car in any gear. If it doesn't do this something besides the clutch is wrong. The do the whole try to spin the wheel thing. The master cylinder rod is under the dash and connected to your clutch pedal arm with a big c bracket. From what I...
Well I recently learned in my own trials of clutch installation that over "disengaging" a clutch can cause it to no longer physically disengage from the disc. Put one wheel in the air and one on the ground. Put the transmission in gear. Have a buddy push the clutch pedal while you try to turn...
Yeah its the sprung one. I have it adjusted now so that if I mash the pedal really hard against the carpet there is just barely a clicking sound from the clutch fingers. I never push the pedal that far driving so I figured its ok. It's getting better now that its good and broken in as far as...
Well ACT was finally right with one of their answers. I needed to adjust the master cylinder rod. I had a buddy help me out cause the fidanza didn't get it delivered on time. We got it in and adjusted but its pretty awful to drive. Between the extremely short amount of travel required to...
There are epoxy's available that can definitely hold it together. There are ones that used to glue concrete together, and then the concrete breaks before the glue gives. It's definitely possible, but I highly doubt they buy top dollar epoxy either.
Well I have heard good things about the clutchnet sixpuck and even called the guy and talked to him about ordering one. They are supposed to be thinner in the spring area than the act disc. I don't want to go unsprung at all. I decided I was going to just go with a fidanza 4.3. I couldn't...
Well I was told that it was disengaging too far by ACT today. He told me to screw the master cylinder back in so that it doesn't "disengage" so far. He said that that far would keep it from truly disengaging from the disc. So guess I will work on it this weekend. You all get yours working?
Wow i really thought it was just me having this problem and of course ACT on the phone is quick to blame everything and anything on me. Mine hit with both the street disk and the six puck. I gotta call them tomorrow to see what they say I guess. I put in the six puck because they told the...
