I applaud people who want to build them yourself! We are going to offer packages this year as well for those people - we will have a machined block, all the correct parts, and you can save our $400.00 assembly fee for a shortblock and DIY!I do have a simple 6 bolt longblock that can ship...
Snow Drift is a great rally - !!YouTube - ACP Rally's special Sno*Drift guestFrom a few years back when we brought one of our Jamaican friends to the rally with us, first time he ever saw snow!Mike Huml
Lot's of good and bad advice in here - but make it simple... everyone is different, every body (just like every car is different and all do not all cars make 400 WHP on an EVO III 16G). My point is, what works for others may not work for you.You have to learn your body, and then you will be...
The point is a 20 year old motor in the hands of a typical DSM owner will be or has been rebuilt whether its with 1G stock big rods and 2g pistons or better parts.I have seen one unmolested, completely stock 6 bolt in the past two years that was making over 300 WHP and I see my share of...
From 2004 -2.0l 6 bolt (I think)
272's most likely
Race gas I am sure
As much boost as the internal gate would produce, probably 24-26 psi?Probably one of the best DSM turbos ever.Mike Huml
Sent you a PM with my contact details. There are so many great companies who sponsor this forum you guys have a lot of options you simply cannot go wrong with right here.DSM's may live forever.. LOLMike Huml
Thanks for the bump, the 350-450 WHP market is where 90% of our customers are, so there certainly is a market for this build up!20 year old cars don't have much potential left in the stock engine in my opinion, unless they were very well cared for.The key is not the power output, we...
Can you buy just the piping and put a good BOV on there?A bad BOV will ruin a good set up, but it would be hard to mess up the piping if it fits correctly!Mike Huml
We did, to my friend Ozzie who owns Horsepower Sales of Orlando.Car is unchanged from when we had it with exception of the turbo which is now a Billet version from Garrett.Car was only running about 70% that day - 7's will be very easy, mid 7's are the goal for 2011.Mike Huml...
That bummed me out to - since I even helped pay for the vinyl on the car. Honestly however, Ozzie is a friend of mine and he did not put the video together - so he was not aware he gave no props to SBR.I can assure you in the future he will, he is a good guy like that. The car has...
Wanted to give a quick thank you to Ozzie and his guys at HorsePower sales in Orlando. I met Ozzie when I first moved to Florida and I knew right away he was the right guy to help Black Betty live on!I have seen the logs from this run - I can tell you 7's are in the very near future, I would...
I would start by asking the guy you bought it from for a receipt. Then we can see what it is for you!So wait - you are the third owner of a turbo that is for sure an SBR G50 and it only has "150 miles" on it.Donkey's have wings and pigs fly too - so before you BS about a hand me down...
Considering you bought/ traded/ bartered for a used turbo - was this supposed to hurt my feelings?Gosh I hope not - go buy another used turbo and then ask to get help, and maybe this time ask for an original purchase receipt so we don't have to guess where or who you bought it from!Put...
I understand your need to argue - did you ever post any pictures of said unit or send back to Kinetic for inspection?I understand you are an expert and all, but I am curious if you did get a real expert's opinion!Mike HumlI made the mistake of picking up a 14B turbine wheel once after it...
Fact - if a turbo had a bent shaft it would not have lasted a mile let alone 150.Fact - never seen a turbo with a bent shaft that I did not create due to some misfortune of my own.I am sorry, I don't know Adam - but I know a lot of people with red 1G's, but that does not help either :(...
Justin,There is some bad info here - problem is if I argue with you I get James Harrison type treatment so I cannot do it on a public forum.Make sure you post things in a different manner, say things like "In my opinion" - or "I believe" - and not say things so "matter of fact"...
To the OP:We have had our issues with the guys at RSP in the past, however they are a good group of guys and local to us here in Florida. They are indeed a legit business.I would however ask you to call a few of the vendors that support this site, you have plenty of good guys right here...
Most DSM shops (or EVO shops) will charge you an hour of labor to do a leak down test and look over the car - in our case its $85.00 plus tax at our shop. Compression test is not going to show what we are looking for.Sorry you are far away, LOLMike Huml
Long read (did not read it all, sorry) - but keep your head up, there are many people in similar situations right now.Ditch the car - focus on you and your immediate family, and most important keep your head up!Mike Huml
Never decked? To the OP - if you email me or PM me with the original purchaser information or the PN stamped on the block - I will see what info I can provide if you need it!Mike Huml
550 WHP on stock 2G pistons "CAN BE DONE" - but it's not typical. The weak part of this equation is the pistons, spend $400-$450.00 and get a set of proper forged pistons - and if you have an extra $300-350.00 buy a set of good H beam rods. It's not so much a budget build when it goes back...
Any pictures of the surface finish by chance? They do not have to have a "mirror" shine - but should be under 30-35 RA to seal properly. Two guess's are that or small crack in the cylinder head (although very rare on the 4G63's from what we have seen - EJ cylinder heads are a different...
#1) Was the head decked/ resurfaced?#2) Was the block decked/ resurfaced?95% of the time - #1 or #2 was not done, or not done properly (IE - the surface finish was not adequate).Mike Huml
I am working on a site that will be more like what I envisioned of SBR ten years ago - it will be all of my own parts, kits, engines, etc. (plus some other parts as well) but it is just now getting started.New site will probably be 4-5 months away, just finished all the catagories/ etc...
You know what - you like your lambo doors, that's all that matters... they are your doors - who cares what anyone else thinks. Now - beating up a vendor becuase he could only save you $25.00 - maybe thats the best they can do, no reason to pick on them.
Since this post seems vague here is my .02$ - and the reason I deserve this putting in my .02$ is because I have some 78,000 invoices (orders) since 2002... and I can tell you this,You have a disease - if you are holding on to bad feelings from 2002 its called "sandy vagenitis". I am not...
We will have a few products at 50% off next Friday - HOWEVER they are all products I am willing to take a loss on to create some cash flow. IE - old - dead - out dated inventory, things like that. This year our margins went from 22% to near 15% - all in the name of everyone trying to make a...
Who said they were sending what? You GOT WHAT YOU ORDERED - we have sold maybe 1000 of these kits in the past ten years and you may be one of the only complaints. If you cannot work on your car - find someone to help you. Or - just come bash Slowboy - it's like the cool thing to do...
I would suggest a way to tune for any car going from NA to forced induction and not rely on a 12:1 FMU.... If you can afford the kit, and want the car to perform properly - spend some bucks on a proper way to tune the car, get it on a dyno, and ditch the FMU.The reason I say this is becuase...
I was actually thinking if I can find the web help - I might do a site dedicated to just OEM parts and parts that we manufacture. I will still leave the other site up -becuase it has many more products than I feel like adding :)Would something like this work?Just trying to get some good...
Sorry bud, most of the DSM parts are not on the new site... however, all you have to do is pick your year, make, model, and sub model and you can see anything that fits your car!
Let Oliver know if we can help on the kit, but we have probably sold 500-600 of these kits since 2001 and I can only remember one or two people not being happy, so I would not call the instal kit BS - that is not really very fair.So saying you are at SQUARE one becuase of a kit we have...
For the record - Manley Performance really stepped up to the plate on this one, this is why we have been so loyal to their brand over the years. They are top notch and always will be.DWR-DSM, send me an email or a text when you get some connecting rod pictures.Mike Huml
Slowboy -
Watch what you say - I have replied to every email you have sent me!I will have more info for everyone to see soon, but yes you will get responses fast - but you are still not going to get the free motor you were begging for via email because you wanted to save a few bucks on your cylinder...
I will look into the numbers he sent tomorrow afternoon.I talked to Tim - he said the head you have shown pictures of above you provided us and only bought a S&R kit and asked us to assemble it ONLY with the parts you provided us. We never machined the head in the pictures above, it is easy...
We are about an hour and a half from Jacksonville but having a dyno day Saturday morning if you want to stop by, should be a few good DSM guys floating around!
The poster above was correct, you're going to want to remove the top of the case and inspect the coupler. It's most likely going to need to be replaced.
