My friend was having problems installing the C-clips on my pistons today. It was too late to call Wiesco directly, I will do it tomorrow asap. I just wanted to see if anyone has heard of similar problems. I was 100% sure that the kit i bought, #K560M85,is correct (standard bore, @9:1)It seems...
I'm glad i found this informative thread.I purchased a set of Total Seal (gapless top) rings. I also have the Wiesco rings that came with the pistons. I am considering installing the Total Seal set, but the whole 2nd ring elimination idea makes me worry. Anyone have ideas about this "trend"...
I've come to the point in my motor build when I am going to decide to send everything in the bottom end + clutch to get balanced, or just go ahead with the install. Talking to friends on "both sides" some work for performance shops, others are strictly DIYers in their garages/driveways, I'm...

i had a similar problem. it turned out to be the wastegate nipple was pinching against my custom 3" intake pipe. it was causing a slight leak, and the first time i got into boost with the pipe on, it flew way past the desired 20 lbs. i'm pretty sure i blew out the Joe P MBC.well, first check...
yeah i saved a few, amazing isnt it?

anyone have any info on where to get some large automotive banners? (Mitsu, Tial, Mobil1, Kumho, FIJ, etc) i'm moving into a pretty large garage, and i would like to fill up some wall space. thanks
i know what you're saying, but i really don't know enough about HPDE classes in other clubs or sanctions to execute a proper fudging. can you give me some additional info? thanks again!
Rich, if the HPDE1 is booked up (for pocono june 2nd) already, should I show up anyway and see it there is any no-shows? I'm just going by what the NASA NE website is showing for events.
the Glen is comming up too, I've always wanted to go there. I think we are going there in mid July for SCCA...
um.... too late! just installed today, 3000gt SL 2 pistons, powerslots, ss lines, porterfield rs4s. when i first got the car, almost 2 years ago i installed powerslots, they have been performing great, even surviving a severly overheated piston. i also found them for $25 on ebay, $25!!!now...
I'm currently part of a small crew for an SCCA northeast region American Sedan and also in the process of selecting a school (Bertil Roos or Skip most likely) for getting my SCCA license. We raced at Pocono last weekend, and recently returned from a wet 2 days at Lime Rock. The driver is a...
any info of how low they drop? i have been thinking of trying to get a tad lower than my Sportlines(1.8" drop i believe) and really don't have the cash to get some coil-overs. good luck
the SI crew rolled in 6 deep around 3:30, then went in for a bite to eat after 5-0 decided to intervene.
blckspo0ln i didn't see your car. i wanted to check out the 5031re since i am considering it.for the next gathering how about somewhere with a larger lot. or maybe meet up somewhere...
i'm not sure what you mean by feeling a difference in torque. i don't think you gain any ft-lbs by installing a high performance clutch. i've been running a 2100 for the past year. it's very easy on the foot, but very reliable.
I'm interested in upgrading my front brakes on my '90 awd talon. After receiving the wrong Baer kit, and reselling it; and now I want to try to find a less expensive way to upgrade.I've been reading and doing research about Cobra calipers fitting my car. Building a kit with these are...
aside from the few 4wd dynos around the city area, i usually just do my business over the internet and do the labor myself or with friends. what work do you need done to your car?
rounding up the staten island DSM crew, i dont think we will be down to B-Water applebees until about 4:30-5 saturday afternoon. hopefully people are still hanging out.
i was sent the 2g kit by mistake from SB (after waiting 3 months) i was told by baer that the hardware and brackets are different on each kit. they dont sell or offer brackets and hardware serperatly for some reason. i need some cash atm, so the kit is currently up on the ebay.
my dyno tune took place in 90 degree heat, i almost made 300whp with the 14b. now that its about 50 degrees colder, the talon feels 50 HP stronger. i run 20 lbs daily. while i dont think 400 whp is attainable on the 14b, low 300's deffinatly is.
I am looking to get a very easy-to-install, un-install hatchback rack for my 1g. I found this model, looks like its mocked up pretty well on a TT and it seems like it would work well on my talon. if you have any other suggestions (besides throwing a muddy DH bike in the back of the car w/ the...
my setup has been performing well for the past 5 months, about 4-5k miles, and numerous NYC potholes. 3 in the front, 6 in the rear!if i just jinxed myself and they blow tomorrow i will hate all of you!:tease:
i actually had this set-up in mind originally. with the air filter hanging down in the wheel well, it looked as if hitting a bump, or a hard left turn would have caused contact with the tire. :notgood: if you try this, deffinatly go with a very small air filter.edit: i air-saw'ed the SMIC...
as it sits now, the air filter is directly above the SMIC hole. gsxitement (who helped me with the fab) also suggetsed ducting air directly from behind the fog light.yeah the tools used were tin snips, some wood blocks, and a small shop hammer.
knowing that there is nothing cooler in the DSM community than having a cold-air intake, i fabbed up a little sheetmetal box in cunjunction with a custom intake pipe.in persuit of achieving the coldest air to feed my "tired but not dead" 14b, i started a little project:-the intake pipe is...
i had a local exhaust shop fab this up for me for about $50. since i run a front mount, i enlarged the hole (just over 3") to the stock side mount location enough for the pipe to fit through. the pipe worked , but the air filter was extremely close to the tire. i have since installed larger rims...
thanks!i took the foglights apart, lined the reflective backing and lens with yellow film wrapping paper, and also bought some yellow bulbs. they have been working fine (for asthetic purposes) for a good year now.
good to see that this thread is still going strong. since my last post, i've upgraded the wheels and tires; check out some new pics:<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/kordoroy/Talon/talon001.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video...
i'm pretty sure i am at 5* over TDC but i will double check tomorrow.on another note, does advancing timing increase vacuum? right now i am running between 12-14 in Hg. 20 is what to shoot for, no?
i didn't know where else to post this.Over the past winter i swapped in a low mileage, JDM vr4 4g63. I've been meaning to ask if anyone knows anything about the stock cams in this head. Almost every person I've run into, or has driven with me in the car has asked if I have installed...
im rocking a Leather Momo, very clean looking.<a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank"><img src="http://i37.photobucket.com/albums/e65/kordoroy/shifter.jpg" border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting"></a>
actually yeah, my bad, i jsut double checked the order slip. if you're interested in the wheels best of luck finding them. i checked about 15 online shops and most said the same thing, " we get them from discount tire and they are out of stock indeffinatly".
i just dynoed and tuned my car this afternoon.
293 hp/ 289 ft-lbs. @18 psi. no juice
the graph show the turbo starting to fall around 5500, with the torque falling around 5900. the car/turbo have 115,000. the motor is a jdm vr4 swap, compression, 155 x4.
i am happy with the results despite...
