I just replaced my clutch on my fwd with a act 2600 and a xact flywheel. Replaced the TOB as well. The pedal was adjusted correctly and feels good. The problem is when I start to slip the clutch either just starting out in first gear or downshifting, the whole car shudders and shakes. If I start...
Hey everyone,
I am just finishing rebuilding a 1g head along with port/polish, 3 angle valve job, stainless valves and i was wondering if anyone has the specs for VALVE STEM HEIGHT and INSTALLED SPRING HEIGHT so i can finish this the right way. I have looked in every manual I own and there is...
I had to pull one of the springs out of mine to keep it from fluttering too bad, Thats also because i live at 7200 ft elevation and have cams which lower vacuum. The video sounds normal to me, you will always hear the bov through the air filter because your recirculating. If its just bov flutter...
It has nothing to do with the engine itself. What is happening is air is leaking past the bearings/seals in your turbo and is blowing down the oil outlet tube that leads to the bottom of the pan. The bubbling sound is from the air bubbling up through the oil from the bottom of the pan. mine did...
I have checked ign timing and cam timing about a many times and everything looks good. I also spent hours tuning with no durasitc improvement. I am using the EVOIII 16g @ 22psi flowing 41.5 lb/min so i dont think that i am not flowing enough air to see a difference. I am going to try and degree...
It was resurfaced when i did the 1g head swap. I am not sure how much they took off either. I have thought about that too but it has to be such a small amount of material that was removed that it shouldn't make that big of a difference. And i am sure they are the fp2s because the i double...
Did you degree them? i hope that is my problem. I have seen the big power gains from cams in other cars but mine seems to loose power. I am with you, probably going to put the stock cams back in and sell these if they don't get any better.
I recently put a set of FP2 cams in my tsi and are not really impressed with the performance. I had a set of 1G MT cams before and they seemed to pull harder overall. With the FP2s, the idle is fine with a slight loss in the low end which was expected. but the mid (3200 - 5500) seems to be a lot...
I just put the fp2s in and here is some info pulled directly off ot the comp spec sheet.IntakeGross valve lift : .411

there isn't a strip in cheyenne it is an oval track, the closest one is in douglas. Its about 175 miles from laramie and at about 4800 ft. elev. which is a lot better than laramie's 7,200 ft.
You may have better luck with the teachers.
i am doing ASM, auto tech, chassis fab, and trim and upholstryHit me up when u get here. most people don't like imports around here because of all streetrod and hotrod stuff that goes on here. Not may dsms either but their are lots of v-8s to smoke.
I have to say that that the 3 months in asm is the longest 3 months i have spent doing anything in my life. Not to discourage you though,Something they don't tell you is that recently, Wyotech was bought out by Corrinthian Colleges. When they switched over to the new company, a lot of the...
I pitty you, i have been here for 6 months and regret every second and penny of it. Wyotech is a joke and a half. the only thing you are paying the $30K for is the name.P.S. I hope you aren't taking ASM
Allright, right now i am going to wyotech in laramie and all i have to say is its the most retarded thing ive been through in my life. Seriously save your money and go somewhere else. If you talk to anybody that goes here right now and they will tell you exactly the same thing. I have been here...
A heavily ported o2 housing combined with the 34mm flapper mod keeps me down to about 15-16 psi on my evo III with a 2.5"-3" downpipe. We put a custom made external dump style 02 housing on a friends evo III with the stock flapper and that helped a lot more.
I just installed the RS to replace my type S. I have to say that this thing is just as big of a POS as the type s was. the flutter and compressor surge are is the same if not worse as the type s. I don't know why I bought another greddy after all the problems and fustration I had with the type...
I hooked a vac gauge up to the hose at the bov and it shows 18 hg vaccuum. I checked and don't have any boost leaks. I even installed one of my friends Greddy type RS bov and had the same results. I Also forgot to add that i run the blow through setup.
OK, This problem is completely baffling me. I have the greddy type s bov. One day i got in my car and noticed compressor surge after every shift. So i took the bov out, took it apart, inspected the vacuum lines and the bov flange. everything was normal. there is plenty of vaccuum in the line...
sorry, I just say the 91K (its late), i would try the revised lifters, or just try cleaning them as shown in the vfaq or tech articles, cleaning them worked in my case.
how many miles does it have, I may be carbon buildup on the pistons. This is very unlikely but i have seen it a few 2gs with a lot of miles using low grade gas. if this is the case, try Mopar combustion champer cleaner
I have the 34mm flapper and an extremely ported o2 housing so boost creep is not an issue for my setup. Thanks for all the replies, i think i am going to go with the FP2 cams, ive been doing research on them and they seem like a good deal for $450.
I have The EVOIII 16g and all the supporting mods (check profile for list). running 19-20 psi with water injection. I plan to max out the turbo with a bit more tuning on the DSM link. My question is would it be worth it to spend the $600 for cams for this turbo. would the benifit outweigh the $$...
I blocked mine off, just used some jb weld, filled the hole up and placed it in the oven for about 45 min. Came out of the oven hard as a rock. The DSMLINK seems to be in control of the idle more now, before when you would set the idle to 800 it would idle about 200 rpm faster than that once it...
I have checked the fuses again and nothing. Is there any fuses that aren't in the fusebox that are hidden somewhere??? I thought about the seat plug thing and have hooked jumpers and ran some test with no luck. I wonder if it would have anything to do with the ETACS ecu. I know it controls some...
One day I decided to install racing seats in my 2g. After the install was done, I started my car up and the following things dont work anymoreOil pressure gauge,
Rear windshield wiper
High beam indicator light,
Horn
Any of the warning lights on the right of the speedometerThis is...
How does the rs do as far as fluttering and compressor surge when vented. I have the type-s and in my opinion is the biggest POS I have ever seen. No matter how its adjusted, It flutters constantly when vented (I have a MAFT)
I have one of the stage 3 2g chips for sale for $80 shipped
Its made for 680cc injectors. I used it for about 1000 miles and went to dsmlink because the keydiver chip, maft and SAFC werent working well togeather.
let me know if your interested
Putting back the honeycombes didn't help at all. I tried a different MAF and the result was the same. I am currently playing with all the Translator settings but that dosen't seem to be helping either. I think i will try and put my old eprom back in to see if that helps.
I have a keydriver chip that allows you to look at knock on the stock boost gauge and i have been noticing it reading large amounts of knock at cruising speeds under vacuum. It only does it once every 10min then it will go away. I am also getting the P0325 code (knock sensor #1 circut). Do i...

the translator is new and the maf is used (i don't know for how long). The maf is in the right directions and all the wiring is correct. I forgot to add in my last post i don't have the honeycomes in. I just now put them back in and will see if that helped.
I recently upgraded to a FMIC and blow through setup and ever since installing the MAFT i get a leaning/sputtering effect if i slap down the throttle. When i do this the o2s read in the 0.0XXs and stays that way until you let off. The car will not accelerate. But when i ease on to the throttle...
Try these, You may have to check his other auctions. I got 100 4000mcd blue leds for $18 shipped with 100 resistors. 3 day shipping too. you cant get much better than this

I think its only the 95-96 that have the cam angle sensor on the cam gear. it is not possible to adjust unless like you said you do the 1g CAS conversion
Yes, as you lean things out, the timing and knock get worse. the chip does compensate for the injectors but it is off a little bit. I have to have the afc at about -12 across the board. The afpr is set to 43psi with the vacume line unattached.
 I am having a hell of a time getting my 95 tsi tuned right. I have a evo B16g, fmic, 680cc, afpr, walbro 255, gm maft.
Here is the best thrid gear pull i have logged at 17psirpm tim 02

3250 10.0 .94
3500 8.5 .96

thanks for the ideas guys, i think i am going to do the j pipe thing miteclgst did because i really don't want to remount my wastegate and i definatley stick with short route piping
I have an EVOIII B16g and I was wondering if anyone has ground off the nipple that holds the compressor housing in place and rotated the housing CC 180 degrees to make it a downflow turbo. This way it would be easier to hook up to a fmic with short route piping. It would probably mess with the...
