Congrats to the both of you guys for making redonkulous power and insane track times! Don't even bother replying to most of the MO/IL guys... I was a member of gatewaydsm for awhile and one guy there (Denny) actually had a car worth taking to the track, and he did. But it's not their fault...

    Fiberglassing Part I

Just a word of advice, if you can't spray the resin on, just pour it over the matting and move it around with the metal bristle roller. Using anything else won't remove the air bubbles trapped in the mat and you'll end up with a weak structure vs a very strong one.

Issaquah Meet at Triple XXX Root Beer Drive-In

Did you mean to put this in the DSM forum or is this a duck hunt? I don't have anything against Nissans, I'm just noticing that the majority of names are from a nissan forum...

STM Project "Tin Can" 91 TSI AWD

To everyone who's said the car is ''too nice to gut'', I have a 90 that I thought was in good shape but wasn't. I've spent WAY too much trying to get it in good enough shape to modify reliably! You should always start with the nicest possible car you can because you don't end up chasing your...

Looking for a STRONG Internal Wastegate Actuator?

Yes, on one side of the center adjustable link (that's a mouthful) you would have right hand threads and on the other side you'd have left hand threads. If you have problems finding the right dies for it or get frustrated you can always hybridize the two systems by welding one side and leaving...

[RESOLVED] 1g Fuel Filler Hose (rubber elbow)

Sorry to dig up the dead but this was a lifesaver!!! I switched over to E85 and it's exposing all my cars weaknesses, this elbow having escaped notice until now. Thanks for the parts #'s, I have to go find an open store to save my $2.19 a gallon race fuel!LOL

4 bolt swap in a 90 brake question

Thanks, I was hoping that wasn't the case since 90's have yet another inferior to the rest of the 1g's part in it's rear calipers... It's not going to be a rally-x car but I still like to be able to carve some familiar back roads on occasion. I looked but couldn't find the VGX rear pads, are...

4 bolt swap in a 90 brake question

Okay, I bought a 1990 Eclipse GSX that someone had already started modifying. That was my first mistake but I already know that after 1 year's worth of fixing... On to my question: Previous owner did a 4 bolt rear end swap but I don't know if he changed everything suspension wise or just the...

Dude! Those headlights look awesome now. I just had mine apart replacing a fender and to be honest, I'd have been happy if they looked like your before pictures... Are you going to go with a JNZ short shifter or keep the stock piece?

    STL DSM meet in June

Well the June meet didn't pan out I'm guessing. There's a Midnight Madness scheduled for July 31 at Gateway International Raceway though. We have a couple local guys that race but it would be nice to see a lot more DSM's hit the track (mine included lol). Gatewaydsm.org will continue to have...

Just so anyone else checking this thread knows, gatewaydsm.org is still up and running with some club meets every other week starting July 23rd, 2009 (a Thursday) and then 2 weeks later on Saturday in a rotating schedule. This isn't so much a car meet as a getting to know faces behind the...

    direct port through the injectors?

Pretty much the same thing, I'm just wondering if it would work on a 4g63 and if so, how it would affect normal driving.

    direct port through the injectors?

The adapter is supposed to be for "GM Bosch injectors", I'm sure something could be milled out for us if the two are incompatible. I just know we're cheapskates out of need and if there's a ready made part available... we'll exploit the crap out of it! The spacing issue might only apply with a...

What's the OEM Mitsu. part number for a 6 bolt oil pump? (already assembled)

It sounds like it might not be the oil pump but a bearing going out . Drop the oil pan and check for metallic dust or worse yet, slivers. Going through oil pumps that fast shouldn't be happening! I'm thinking you might have something in the pan getting sucked into the pump and causing...

What cams do they make for the NT

I didn't get it up to 10.5, AMG did! I'd assume they used different pistons to raise the compression vs milling down the block or head. These engines run too close to comfort as is without bringing the pistons/valves closer together. I know it's probably not what you wanted to hear but you'll...

    direct port through the injectors?

While researching a normal tap into the manifold direct port nitrous system I ran across this at directnitrous.comIs this even possible with FIC 1050cc injectors? I don't have any gm injectors laying around to compare/measure against but this would be the easiest way by far to add...

What's the OEM Mitsu. part number for a 6 bolt oil pump? (already assembled)

Even pre-assembled, you still need to pack the gears with vasoline or moly lube to make sure it's primed and able to draw engine oil through the pump. Meaning, you'd still have to disassemble it, add lube, re-assemble it. I can't say for sure, but the problem may have been with the topline...

What cams do they make for the NT

An option you might look into would be to find some AMG cams. I used to have an AMG tuned N/T engine in my 92 Laser and it was a little lopey but made quite impressive power! I don't know the specifics of the grind but I do know the compression was ~10.5:1. The hp was about 180 at the crank...

    ceramic coated bearings???

I had the same question and the answers I got make sense. Yes it's good to have it retain a thin film of oil on it but unless you have long periods of time between starts it's not worth it. They also pointed out the extra thickness of the coating may interfere with the extremely tight...

Is there an option to installing the a/c bracket JUST to shim the driver's axle?

Yeah, 4 was the magic number for me. I'm just surprised that there isn't a flat mounted bracket for the cv bearing though. Seems like a huge oversight on Mitsu's part to design it like that.On a side note, I found wrapping the washers in masking tape once (thin), then punching out the...

Is there an option to installing the a/c bracket JUST to shim the driver's axle?

While that would work, it still amounts to a stack of washers at stealership prices... I was more interested in a flat mount for the intermediate shaft bearing as it would probably be stronger than a modified installation if that makes sense.

Is there an option to installing the a/c bracket JUST to shim the driver's axle?

I'm curious if there is an option to installing the a/c bracket JUST to shim the drivers side axle, well besides the traditional stack of washers that is. I looked online and I couldn't find a list of standard equipment on the GSX to even tell if they were even made. I know it's not a top...

Will a stronger psi wga help stop the 34mm flapper problem?

I'm interested in that hybrid actuator as well. On a side note (also how I found this thread), My almost new FPE316G that I paid to have ported and a 34mm installed had 2 bolts snap off when I pulled the motor. All despite using high temp anti-seize during the install ~500 miles ago. I also...

    Did I port too far?

That's what I needed to know for sure, that going past the ring on the piston was too far. I pretty much stopped after the drill jumped. If it hadn't been too far, I would have finished squaring it off and enlarging the rest of the whole for easier pressure relief. As it was, I understand...

    Which balance shaft elim. kit?

If you don't want to piece it all together, I'd say FFWD has one of the most complete kits out there and they don't overprice it. Just DONT get a solid (no oil groove) stub shaft or you might seize your oil pump and then your engine.

    Did I port too far?

Well I'd like it to idle under 1k with the 272's if possible. I'll more than likely break the engine in on straight 30W for the initial 50 miles or so before going to 10W-30 dino and after 2-3k mobil 1 synthetic once it's fully broke in. My main concern is that I ported slightly past the...

No matter who you go with, one small piece of advice. Power wash the water jackets to death, then power wash them again and again! All of those engine swap motors have been sitting idle for quite awhile and will have rust inside the jackets. I've had a couple and several other people I know...

Products the DSM crowd would like to see made

Great idea and wouldn't be TOO difficult to do (no worse than custom fiberglass ever is), main problem would be getting DOT (department of transportation) approval. Otherwise you could chop up some 2g projectors and slap clear plastic over the flip lids, more or less. I'd try it but the law...

    Ceramic coated bearings?

    Ceramic coated bearings?

I've searched the threads but couldn't find any info on ceramic dry film coatings on the bearings. Is this a waste or just a well kept secret? Also, the same film was available for pistons and rods. I understand the pistons get better thermal resistance but the rods? The claim was for better...

anyone had these problems with the punishemnt kit?

What I did was close to that. I actually had one zip where yours is and another towards the fender. Must have been the two axis stress popping it off the stock tabs. I'm wondering if a couple cheap metal rulers pop riveted into the stock ones to extend the contact would work if I braced them...

Update without pics (for now camera is in other car). The alternator didn't shear, the nut came off due to vibrations possibly? It's a major PITA to change and after many failed attempts to 'finesse' it out, I ended up pulling the bumper and hotside pipe after loosening the couplings to the...
