Looking forward to see your drip rail solution!
I still wonder what happened to the original machine/s that cast the rubber on the stainless steel. Did it just get decommissioned and recycled!? Or it's in a junkyard in Japan somewhere?
Congrats on the progress. Coming together!
I'm in the same boat with my 2g. Focussing on getting it running solid. Had to replace the gas tank, clean the injectors, replaced the fuel pump and battery, and she started up after a long nap.
Not looking forward to getting it smogged.
awesome information guys! THANK YOU!
looking forward to balancing out the brakes and handling before i move to cranking up the HP. My GST just came out of a very long nap....stock.
Appreciate the data!I've literally been on this forum everyday for a while now....I'M READY!!
@Michael Helsel
@DSSAAny benefit to utilizing the vented rear rotors, AND as I'm sure there might be other posts here, and I've searched unsuccessfully, is there a part combo to swap vented rear rotors on a 97 GST?Any help would be greatly appreciated!Chris
Yeah! Lights look way better! Stock just looks so...Classic!Are you going to "refresh" those old projectors? Might be a fun project. Or it might be more fun to Alley-oop them into the trash depending on how they've been treating you HA!
Why is it that most of the still badass DSMs are in Pennsylvania?
This add is like my car in a couple years (of hard blood, sweat, and tears) except i still have the unused cigarrette lighter. ;)
Good luck with your sale! I bet you're sad to see her go.
@saulofaria,On the"zon" (EVIL ENERGY 6AN PTFE Fuel Line Kit,E85 Stainless Steel Braided Fuel Hose 20FT(5/16Inch ID) ....I used this kit to make a new pump to hardline hose. Make sure you GTS how to cut the hose with a grinder. (google that shit). Kit should be enough to run new to and past...
@saulofariaMight be a bit late since you seemed to have found an issue with the engine coolant temp sensor, but here's my story:My 97 GST fuel tank had fuel from 2010 and had ruined the tank and the pump. I recently drained the tank, and when the remaining fuel dried up, there was this...
You have to do a battery draw test. I believe it involves disconnecting the negative off the battery and connecting a volt meter between the terminal and the negative wire.
On milliamp setting, this will give you a reading of the amperage draw for whatever components are drawing from the battery...
Alex,
I'm on the same road you are. Good luck with your journey in restoring the car. Read my profile "ABOUT" for more info. The paint job looks great! Are you using the original seat foam?Widgmaster - Sir your seats look like 70' plush furniture! Very niiice!
Damn! GST-even
Can FWD land this kind of power to the road? Are you planning to AWD swap at some point as well?
Did you send them a 6-bolt or a 7-bolt to Demon?
These are from 3 years ago. Unfortunately I didn't listen to my dad about covering the with a car cover and the clear coat is starting to flake. Paint under the clear looks good, and the only rust i can see is literally a 1/4" spot on the hatch.Today I installed a new JC Whitney/car parts dot...
OMG! Your drip rails are perfect!
I agree - nice write up and story. Encouraging me to move a bit faster with my build. My '97 GST has 7000 original miles and i'm just working on getting it running first. Fuel tank still had old fuel from (probably) 2008 and was just a rusty mess.
