The actual "big" rods were on '90s only. 6-bolt motors were in production from '89 to '92.5, which you might have read wrong. To the original poster, save yourself time, money, and a few hundred headaches; sell the car and buy a running one; anyone that rebuilds a 7-bolt obviously has more...
Bringing this one back from the dead...I managed to get "DSM Logger" and "MMCd" onto my Treo 650 without even trying, literally. Both programs can be opened and all seems well.On my computer I had an older version of palm desktop that I used with an M100, so when I installed the new...
Take the rods and pistons out and see if the crank turns. If it does, that verifies it is a problem with the rods. If it still doesn't spin, you have a problem with the crank.Who built the motor? You?~Mark
After buying all of the parts and paying for all of the machine work, you will probably wish that you just purchased a motor that had a warentee from a trusted DSM vendor.Good luck on whatever you decided to do.~Mark
can the motor run at all, or can you get to the oil pump sprocket that the timing belt sits on? If the motor will run, you can take your oil cap off and see if the oil is spitting up when it is idleing... the higher the RPMs the more it will spue all over.If the timing belt is off, you can...
Anyone who even attempts to port match a 2G head to a 1G manifold is crazy in my opinion. You would end up taking off so much material that I would be worried that you would jeopordize the strenght of the head...~Mark
Choosing between a 2G head and a 1G head is dependent upon what you car is being built for... Building a street car in which you want power down low? The 2G head is for you! Are you building a strip car only that you will spend the majority of the time in the higher RPMs? Hog out a 1G head...
When you purchase DSMLink, you get the cable... where did you get the chip without the cable and who is selling you a cable by itself? That reving is called idle surge. It could be a number of things, but do a boost leak test first.~Mark
We were not judging it based on the name, we were judging it based on the design. How many times does that have to be said? Why are there always people that defend random crap on ebay? Don't you realize that there are dishonest people out there trying to make a quick buck off kids with their...
OK, how many of these pieces of shit have been sold? My guess is that they would make the first few sold halfway decent so people would start threads on forums saying that they are an OK quality.Come on... don't we know better by now? I don't buy it.Save your pennies kids and support...
Looking at the picture again, I think that the oil pump timing mark is close, but not right on. Whether you have the shaft in there or not, you may as well get it dead on, just to make sure.~Mark
First of all, in the first picture, is that white mark the oil pump timing knotch? If so, your timing is off. Second of all, the pictures are not clear enough and I can't even see the timing marks on those cam gears...Yes, that sensor on the back of your intake manifold support is not...
I knew a kid that made approximatly 420 awhp with a scm61 with a stock intake manifold and stock cams. Stock block too. Obviously other supporting mods as well, but you get the jist. Pretty quick. No dyno numbers, but he trapped 125 not hooking up till 3rd.It's an *alright* turbo, but if...
You must be pretty clever, however, you forgot to quote where I said that it the only thing they are good for. I know damn well high EGT's can also represent a lean condition. Are you challenging my knowledge of the combustion process? I laugh at such a comment. PM me if you care to continue...
You could deffinitly advance your base timing a degree or two and get some more power, but it is something that I would never do for my own personal reasons.~Mark
www.dsmlink.comLook under the downloads section for "install" instructions. There is two steps; installing the chip which took me a total of about 4 minutes, and installing the software which took me even less.Regards!

Ummm, a 10.8 on pump? That is not easy at all. You will be putting some serious tuning into a car running pump and trying to get it into the 10's, especially full weight. Sure that wasn't in the 1/8th? ;)Check you PMs, I responded.~Mark
The faster you go, obviously the harder it is to go faster, however, for what he did on an AFC, I'm sure he could get into the 11's with that small 16G and the link. You do however make a good point regarding other DSMLink features that are not possible with the AFC. Such features include...
I bet you could get into the 11's by switching just the fuel management. What are you using to advance timing? No WB 02? If you got down to a 12.3 with as little mods you have, according to your profile, you should have no problem going down another .3 IMO.
I just responded to someone else trying to be smart... why else would you exhaust get "hot" besides a severe lean condition?http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1407382#post1407382Regards!

I used to care about them, but then I did some searching and found out exactly what "high" EGT's represent... pulled timing. Nothing a logger can't see. If I see more than 3 "counts" of knock on a logger, I know I have a problem. I don't need to look at a gauge that is telling me in a vauge...
Another easy question, why do you care?EGT's(on turbo cars) are about as useless as an internet website blocker trying to stop a perverted 16-year-old.~Mark
Wait, so let me rephrase this... Did a few people just agree that preventative maintenance is a good idea before we modify these old cars?I never thought that I would see this day ~Mark, baffled and confused
wtf thread?I belive the TMO logging software is now a freeware software. Find someone generous enough to give it to you.Use proper sentences and grammar and you may get some more replies.Regards!

It is worth it for a 1G as well. It's pretty much the same software I've been told. I've only seen the 1G version, but sources say they are very similar. You will have to ask Thomas about the use of both the chip and the link, but the last I heard the link was going to allow for a "modded"...
The only thing that an EGT gauge tells you is when your ECU is pulling timing for various reasons. Given that, you don't need one. Just one more thing to worry you :)Look into the PLX WB units. They have a few different options, but I think it's a safe assumtion to say that the most...
