I have just purchased a evo 2 gsr running link g4+. The car stalls itself if you don't keep the revs high. When driving its fine but soon as I slow down for example to go over a hump it stalls. Have to keep the revs really high so it doesn't. Spoke to the old owner, he said the issue started...
The bearing plate where the detents go into, the 3/4 hole had been messed with (seems like with a screwdriver) and the ball bearing would get stuck. So we used a sandpaper with dremel and smoothed it out and it works as it should now. Everything else is in gearbox was perfectly fine
Bit of a late one but finally found the issue. Removed the box and disassembled it to find the 3/4 detent ball was stuck, not allowing me to shift into the gears🤦♂️
Issue RESOLVED!! After months of trying to sort the car, I dropped it off to my mate who solved it in 10 minutes. The issue was in the tune, Ign angle on the map @ idle was -8
It was idling yes but was still not running too good. Sat in my garage for a while now it's having trouble starting. I'm going to double check the timing again and go from there
I've been having some trouble with getting my evo 2 to start. It's a built motor with k20 coil on plug and play kit. It sometimes starts but sounds very rough and like a miss fire, but now it doesn't start at all. Every time I would crank it would backfire through the exhaust and Intake...
As I mentioned above, once I remove the shifter cables from the trans side, the gears work fine by hand. Soon as they're on 3rd and 4th don't go in. To me I think its the cables that's the issue. Can't think of anything else, will get new cables and see what happens
Everything looks fine and feels solid. I remove the cables, put it into 3rd or 4th then put the cables back on and once I throw it into neutral, with the shifter it won't allow me to go back into 3rd or 4th but soon as cables are off again it works by hand. So my only guess is stretched or worn...
Got some good news! Removed the cables from transmission side and went through the gears manually and they all work perfectly fine! So my guess is stretched shifter cables
This is exactly what I've been told by a few people. I think this is the first thing I will do. Thank you very much for the write up, I will check everything you have mentioned before removing the box. Worse case scenario the box will have to be removed. Thank you again
Thank you for the info. I checked where the cables are on the trans and everything seems fine. I've uploaded a video you can see it.I forgot to mention, the car has been sitting down for close to a year. When I first got into it, 1st and 2nd gear done the same thing and after a few trys it...
I just got the car, the previous owner did. They said they are sure everything was working fine, the car did stay in the unit for a long time though and not get driven. Looks like I'm going to have to remove and inspect 🤦♂️
The transmission was literally just reassembled and fitted on. I only got the car a few days ago from a friend. Its been sitting for a very long time. When I first got into it, 1,2,3,4 all was doing the same thing and only 5th and reverse was working. After a few trys 1st and 2nd worked but 3rd...
Yes thats exactly what it sounds like.. must be the lifters then. We have constant bad weather in the uk so very hard to spend time on cars lol. Hopefully in a few days I can inspect it properly. Thank you for your help, appreciate it
As mentioned in my previous post I just purchased this evo 2. When the car is on or off it does not go into 3rd or 4th gear. It feels like something is blocking it. Car has ORC twin plate clutch. I looked around but couldn't see anything unusual. I've uploaded a video here
Ohh 🤦♂️ sorry over here in the uk thats what we call them, I thought you was talking about the oil pressure regulator. Yeah as I mentioned it's a fresh build. They started it, heard this sound and told me heads gone. Car hasn't been driven. So as you mention it may be the lifters as they were new
It's a fresh build, well head is new. New headgasket, studs etc including the kiggly hla. I have a feeling its something very minor. Will try pulling rocker cover off ASAP to inspect. Thanks for the reply
I recently got this evo 2 gsr from a friend with some issues. I was told that the head is rattling and was told it may be a broken spring or rocker. I started it up today, and to me it sounds like lifters. I will upload the video here, long shot as video always sounds worse than what it is. I...
Thanks for the love people 👌👊
As I mentioned I got the car as 'head rattling' and was told it may be broken rocker or spring. I started the car today and to me it sounds like either the timing is our or the lifters. Uploading the video here, if anyone knows what this sound may be will appreciate...
Finally the manifold is here! Test fitted it with the turbo, fits perfect 👌
