Talon is dailying again! Since the stock hood is back on the car, im closely monitoring temps since it used to get to 223 every now and then with the old CF hood (rip). But, with the cool weather in Tennessee, the needle didnt even move off the operating temp, which is nice. The new stereo is...
Yeah no worries! One of these days we ought to chase the mystery of why the 12v wire in the harness just stopped working.
But, for now, its great!Good thought for sure. The labels still have a bit of foam on the back so i’ll have to trim it off before gluing for sure.Otherwise, i’ll need to...
Hm. Not quite sure why the pictures posted out of order after the fact, but just see the pictures of the smashed windshields for what i was referencing in my post ROFL
This could be pretty sweet! Met a DSM’er at the shootout with a 1g 6g72 swap which was really interesting, but it was far far from a street car, very much a purpose built drag car.Would be interesting to see a OEM or street style V6 swap. Good luck! If you need me to hit up some pull yards in...
Wow... a LOT has happened in the past month and a half. Goes from bad, to really really good, so for sure read everything if you have the time :)So, I guess I'll get into it:First off: I learned some valuable lessons recently.
1. Always listen to your enthusiast mechanics. Always.
2. If...
Yeah I've done that already. Ended up taking the blade connector off and using an Alligator clip instead, which, yeah, was and is a bad idea, but it worked for quite a while without any complaints until i installed a new alternator, and wrapped some exposed wiring for the sensor in electrical...
I drove the car! Still a really cool feeling being able to daily my car finally. Also, my oil pressure gauge connection on the lower side has always been finniky. Its been off for the few days but just randomly came back last night and this morning. I'll have to check that out.
I used to be really into single player games, like, bigtime. But, eventually when I started competing in Valorant and CSGO the interest just died off. Especially when I got really busy with other stuff being the clubs president. Havent had the time to sit down and run through a game like...
Holy build! I will likely be putting together around 30-40 setups of similar specs here within the next year for my club but my personal setup is last gen in comparison lol
Saw you like Starfield, I preordered Payday 3 and have been obsessed with it over the past few days. Lots of good titles...
In addition to building computers, I also modify mice, headsets, keyboards, etc.I don't have a soldering iron since I moved semi-recently and just used my dads when I was back at home, so I used my solder sucker as a soldering iron and laid out just about the worst solder joints possible. But...
Good point!
I want to get it tuned when at the shootout! But the way travel is going to work will make it hard. I believe a remote tune would be a good idea, but I would also like a tuner who is familiar with how to control the boost controller built into the wideband. its a real hassle :/
Yep. Cracked exhaust manifold was a big contributor, and some good solid cooling system upgrades like 2 Spal fans, and a 2 row radiator. Cheaped out on Mishimoto fans and that was a bad choice. Now I can actually daily the thing lol
I haven't been here long, only since March of 2021 (I think), but I would not be in this community without this site. I bought my car with a lead from a post in the classifieds, gotten several parts that were absolute lifesavers through the classifieds, and talked with and met so many great...
This is a thread my dad started actually. Im not sure if he specified, but I got a used Mishimoto radiator and a spal fan attached to it for around 150$ shipped. I do agree that mishi isnt the be-all-end-all of radiators, but this combination was priced too well to pass up.
Good value as always...
Man... its probably about time I update this thread.Per the last post, got my 20g installed, new injectors sent off to FIC tested at 775 so I installed those. The biggest deal of all though: the car is dailyable again. In fact, I've been dailying it for nearly a month now. It finally keeps...
I got a "Megan Exhaust" downpipe and while it fit the stock o2 housing well, it was super hard to tighten the nuts down to the studs coming off the o2 housing. I'm still convinced I have a slight exhaust leak at the connection there because of it.
Not a car like the thread probably is implying, but I've been my College's computer mechanic for the Esports club ever since I was elected VP a year ago. Did cable management like this for 7 computers with non-modular power supplies. Absolutely a horrendous time, but they look pretty good now...
My situation is different, strangely. Mine actually burns right at the location of the motor. I thought it was an exhaust leak from the downpipe to the o2 housing but for the life of me couldnt confirm it. Torqued the bolts as hard as I could but there is still definitely a chance it leaks.
Same happened to me as well. Melted 2 shitimoto rad fans before buying a spal and it solving the problem. All on a stock radiator btw.
Never thought of that gasket as the issue, but I figured with both the Exhaust mani heatshield and the Turbo stock heatshield it would help deflect any leaking...
Man, people really take doing stuff like this for-granted! I can't tell you the amount of times I'd go to work on my Talon at home with my Dad and he'd start bitchin about what random tool he couldn't find.
But me on the other hand, I would specifically hide things I knew we needed the next day...
Heck yeah. Good to know a reputable name knows this guy. I'm probably going to go to his shop here soon to get my A/C recharged ROFLIf you did decide to make a meet in AL, dont be shy to share it with me and the rest of the Bama folks!
The sonata owner? No clue! The Talon/1g owners name is Anthony Hulsey, on facebook at least.I dont have a facebook so my dad has been doing most of the talking to him.
@YoungDsmEnthusiast actually went to college with me so I know we'd both be down to go.
I learned today there are 2 more dsm's over here in Athens with me owned by a guy who owns a car repair shop. A 2gb talon and some sort of 1g.His buddy has a 500whp 90's Sonata which had the 4g63t engine...
And to think I almost went and pulled that interior piece by piece OMG
Glad the friend who mentioned it to me got it to a good home though. Im definitely a bit jealous, but I already have a "rare" interior myself so I cant be too upset LOL
2g's being rare in AL is an understatement. Now that mine is on the road again I think that you and I are the only 2g's here, minus one I saw on my college campus one time.
Heck, Ive only seen 4 2gs in the wild in the span of 2 years in Middle Tennessee. They werent really lookers either...
I want to buy a stock turbo manifold with no cracks and in good condition, message me what you have.
Shipping preferred, but local pickup in TN/AL possible but not ideal.
Probably best to directly message him about this, but my tdo5 20g he built for me shipped to my house about a month ago, we started messaging about it in february/march. Last he told me he has a lot of orders but will likely be able to hook you up with something used or new.
I suspect this might be a big issue in the future as ARM processors become more widespread. Apple has basically swapped all of their products to ARM and a lot of mobile devices will make the same swap in the near future as OEM's get their versions nailed down. Hopefully this fix remains useable...
If you figure out how to do with just as good quality as they do, and get better customer service than Carbonetics, I'm decently sure you'd be able to overtake them in the space.
Its bordering on crazy how many bad experiences people have with Sergio, just for the customer service alone. Shame...
i cant see whatever attatchment you sent here, mind sending it again? Maybe with a link to the sensor you're using to translate the numbers to link too? That'd be great, my FPR isnt mounted in a great spot and it's good to have it monitored in link anyways.
Crazy how right under this thread there is this nifty little section with 5 articles of the same name...
Why come for advice if you clown on the people giving it to you? Go back to Facebook, and sell one of us the car once you blow it up with crappy mods.
My .02 has got to be the 2gb Talon. I like the looks of all the cars, but just something about the rear-diffuser looking rear bumper and streamlined front bumper i love.
Not a fan of their spoilers compared to the eclipse's but, not gonna complain. Spoilers are easy to remove ROFLI feel you...
Got my first ever Link logs today!!! See the attached logs if you're curious. I havent really nailed down what "normal" logs look like but nothing bad appeared in these logs other than my coolant temps topping out at like 239f :cry:Confirmed as well that my car isnt running lean and causing...
Collecting parts slowly and surely. Getting a radiator and fan in here soon, and look at this pretty little piece that showed up today :p
Onto work on it this weekend! Its truly been too long…
I had great luck (heh) with a LUK branded master cylinder after my OEM one died on me.
OEM is always the better answer, but this unit has held up for 2 years now. Got it at O'Reiley's for like 30-40$.Edit: Just saw you have a 1g. Not sure if LUK makes one for the 1g or if there are many...
944 fest takes place in Ohio as well, and my dad usually tows his lil p-car up there instead of driving it since he knows he'll hate the drive and/or break the car. Being 55 doesnt make it easy for him LOL
Personally i love driving the talon from TN-AL (about 2 hours and 2-3 interstates). But...
Im going to tentatively say I'm going. I mean, the 30th shootout sounds like a good time to make my first shootout, driving my Talon or not lol
Even if i dont make it up there with the talon it'll be great inspiration to get it roadworthy again.
Dusty Landrum's car (@Dusty Landrum) is a really good example of a restoration project. The level of dedication on his build is quite incredible.
There are many more cars to look at and take inspiration from as well!
Welcome to the site!
Its cool to see that there are slowly more and more new (and sometimes cost effective) suspension options from reputable brands are coming to DSM's.Like this review on Flatout a couple years ago, and Bobby recently reviewing some custom BC coils for his autocross car.
Heard a lot about...
