Breaking in a cam will roller rockers is pointless. The instructions that say run at 2500 for 1/2 hour are for flat tappet rockers. The cam has to heat cycle to "break in." For rollers, just pop them in and you're ready to go.
Just as an update, I aligned it yesterday. Here are my specs.Front:
Camber: -2.4 deg
Caster: 2.9
Toe: 0.06 deg total outRear:
Camber: -1.7 deg
Toe: Zero toeThis alignmend really helped out. The initial impression I get from it now is that the turn in is amazing, and the...
I didn't want to put this in the parts review, since I don't feel like writting up a huge in depth review. I'll just post it here. Also, I though it would be nice for people to get some more pics than what they show on the JIC site.I got my JIC coilovers on. Here are some pics. When I...
I sent an email to Jeff and Nate, to see what they think the problem might be.I'll let you guys know as soon as I get a reply from them. The fuel filter is also new. If I can't figure this out with tuning, then I'll try an AFPR and 255 pump. I just bought a house, so money is tight for...
I'm running an EVOIII 16G turbo, 21 psi.I've got my pump rewired with a 1/0 cable (split for my amp, and fuel pump).I have PTE 680cc injectors.I replaced my knock sensor about 200 miles ago also. I also torqued it down properly.Hope this helps.
Kevin
I am having a problem that I can't seem to tune out myself. I'll do my best to describe what is happening. Whatever gear I'm in, when I floor knock jumps up, so say 12 to 15 counts. As the gear continues the knock goes down. Then as I shift and go into the next gear, there is no knock...
I'm wiring up my water injection kit. Its activated by a boost switch. When boost hits the set level, it basically completes the circuit to the pump relay. I could hook this up to any +12V source, and it would work fine. But, I would like to hook it up to a source that only has +12V when...
Thanks a lot guys!!My tires are the new azenis RT-615s. They are 225/45/17s, which measure 9.5" wide!!! Thats a wide 225. They are like ####ing glue. I love them. I can really rip some turns. My suspension sucks. Its KYB GR-2 shocks and Eibach sportlines, with one of the coilbinded...
I do have some high res pics. Some are 1280 by somethign, others are 25xx by something. Me and my buddy were taking pics with our respective cameras.Kevin
I wouldn't recommend rtv or silicon.I used it on my 50 trim turbo because I didn't have the gasket at the time. It worked well. Several months later I changed my intercooler setup and wanted to clock my turbo. I could not get the housing loose. I tried and tried and tried. When I...
Our goal for the pinto is 800 hp to the wheels and 8's. So NO, we're not on stock computer. Autronic SM2......... No need to worry about oiling problems, we did it right. We have a custom crank, rods, pistons and the ever illusive tall deck block. Its done right. We're runnign a GT42R...
Yes, its a TIG weld. I and thinking about selling them. Or maybe just the ABS plastic piece. I'm still comtmeplating. IF I could make a jig to cut the pieces, then it would make my life easier, and making them quicker. I'll definately consider. I'm also considering making intake manifolds...
I finally finished my intake pipe and cold air intake plumbing done. This is all done on a small 16g. Very soon I'll be upgrading, so don't worry about that.I used a 4" Aluminum 90 degree bend and some straight section to make it up. The divider is made from 1/8" ABS plastic. Under the...
I was thinking both intake and exhaust valves had to be completely closed to do a pressrue test. I'm officially retarded. I guess only intake or exhaust has to be completely closed. Please ignore this thread. What crank rotation degree works best for a pressure leak test?Mods - delete...
Guys, this is a stupid question probably. But, are all the valves ever completely closed. I know that on the combustion and compression stroke, that all valves are closed, and that on intake stroke the intake valves are open, and on exhaust stroke the exhaust valves are open.But...
As far as I can remember, you can just pull it back out a tad. There isn't anything holding it in place except that little ball once you get it in. I don't see what the problem is. Maybe you can elaborate, because it should be able to slide in and out till you get the ball in.When you...
Sorry to dig up an old thread, but are there any updates here? I'm having the same problem and a code 44. Let us know if you figured it out. Thanks,
Kevin
I think I'll stick with my 100A fusible link then. I'll also keep a spare one with me just in case. My amp recommends a 125A fuse, so I guess at full tilt it 'could' pull that much. Its only a 880 Watt amp though. Thanks for the informative reply.Kevin
Hey all, I followed the factory service manuals direction for setting my base ignition timing. Really, I was just checking it since I never have since I bought the car. With the terminal grounded, I read 5 degrees advanced. Great. Just as it should.I shut the engine off, removed my...
Well, I am upgrading all of the alternator wiring both to and from the fusible link. If the alternator puts out 135A, I will need a bigger fusible link too, otherwise it will be blow all the time.Kevin
I'm a ME.This thread looks like a good place to pose a question about making an electircal device.I want to make a device that will flash a LED if battery voltage goes under 11.5V, and flash the same LED twice as fast if battery voltage goes above 15.5V. The voltage numbers I gave are...
Hey all,I'm thinking of upgrading to the alterstart 135A alternator. I know I'm able to get a new 100A fusible link, in place of my stock 80A one. But that still won't be big enough. What are you 135A alternator guys using for a fusible link??Thanks,
Kevin
Got all my stuff in today. Wheels are Rota Sub-Zeros 17x7.5, +45 offset, 5x114.3, Bronze. Tires are the new Falken Azenis RT-615s 225/45/17.I'm totally stoked. Can't wait to get my car back from the body shop, get it aligned, and tear up some turns.
Kevin
I'd say they are castings, not forgings. But, no I do not think that is necessary. I welded in about 4 stages to keep the temperature of the endlink from getting too hot and melting the rubber bushings. The weld around the endlink is non-critical compared to the weld around the trailing...
Just installed them today. Here are some installed pics.I set the toe to the factory 'zero' markings, but to my eye, it looks to be toe'd in. I havn't drove it yet. I won't have an alignment done till the car gets out of the body shop (got rearended on friday). I'll reply when I...
Here is a quick writeup of my homebuilt active toe eliminators. Here is what I did. I took the trailing arms off the car. I wire wheel'd off the rubber as much as I could, so it would not interfere with the welding. Cut two washers in half. Welded them in place. The washers are 3" OD -...
Today I went to Home Depot and Lowes looking for large washers for the active toe eliminators. The largest I found was a 2" OD.Where can I buy a 3" OD - 1.25" ID washer? Thanks,
Kevin
Hey all,
I recently added a ACT2600 and Fidanza flywheel to my 91 Talon Tsi AWD. I now hear a grindy vibration noise on coast down. When I say coast down I mean with the car in gear decelerating. The noise stops when I accelerate, or push in the clucth.I checked the 5th gear play when...
Thanks for the link. Let me tell you. Vibrant Performance resonators are very very nice in person. Its nice when a product excedes your expectations.Kevin
Let me set this straight.BOVs only care about a few things.
1. Pressure in the system (Boost Pressure - absolute)
2. Pressure outside the system (Atmos Pressure - absolute)
3. System Volume (usually comprised of IC piping, and intercooler)
4. Area of discharge (area of vent port)...
