How much can a HE351VE exhaust housing be clocked?

Only the center and the VGT controller motor/gearbox.There is a small pin you have to remove between the CHRA and the housings and then they can be clocked anywhere as long as the exhaust flange doesn't hit your feed line fittings.

Is my motor F!&#ed? Videos inside.

See metal in the oil? Sure sounds like rod knock to me. Also sounds like it was not right in the first video, the loud knock when first started before oil pressure built up.

    Unibody Frame Repair

Be careful using fasteners of a different metal than what you are bolting together. Add salt water with metals of different electro negativity and you create a battery and severe dissimilar metal corrosion.

FP 68HTA pics...for those who are curious.

I talked to my friend who worked at the Gas turbine lab at Kansas State University over the summer. He looked into the cost for having a map generated for a turbo. Ouch, its $3k-$7k area for an automotive sized turbo.

    My compound turbo set-up

Also Paul, you sort of mentioned it, but I don't think enough emphasis was put on it. You started your dyno pulls at 500-1500 rpm later than those other dynos makes the torque curve you put down MUCH more impressive. You started at ~4000 RPM and torque came in immediately. They started much...

What do I need to boost up too 18 psi?

Its really hard on transmissions and drivetrain parts hitting fuel cut too. It loads and unloads the drivetrain to rapidly, the shock loads are very hard on stuff.

    running rich and no boost?

That 9.8:1 at WOT is only at the highest load rows on the fuel map IIRC. At "5psi" he shouldn't be anywhere close to that. What the car is doing is exactly the same as the very first time I drove a DSM 12 years ago. I ended up finding a hole in the upper IC hose by the battery you could...

1G CAS and Random misfire and CAS inaccuracy

I don't have the random miss code problem since I'm not running a stock ECU. Running MS actually. This was more an observation as to the possible causes of the ECU picking that up. The car isn't actually missing in those cases, it just senses what it thinks is minute changes in crankshaft...

1G CAS and Random misfire and CAS inaccuracy

So I was having trouble today with getting megasquirt to sync and pick up an RPM signal. Took apart the CAS to test it, found it had gotten wet and not getting a CAM signal out of it.In the process of trying to figure out the issue, I think I observed at least part of the issue that causes...

    angled t3 adaptor with holsets?

I built something sort or similar and uglier to fit my VGT turbo on a stock manifold. It had to move out and down to fit, as well as the non standard flange as well as provide a waste gate port. Its ugly but just to show the basic concept would probably work if you found the right...

Back in the Scene 1g FWD TSI GOAL = 320WHP

Some form of timing and fuel control like he said becomes even more critical with higher than stock compression and the already aggressive stock 1g timing map. Then you ad trying to tune larger injectors and the timing goes even higher, and on crap 91 octane. The recipe is NOT for fun or...

    My Terrible Experience With Wiseco

Mine was always babied until being warmed up. It also never took anything over ~300whp. Was DD'd most of its ~20,000 miles. Very conservative timing, AFR's, and run on E85 for most of the "hard" miles. In other words nothing that a stock motor wouldn't have survived without a hitch...

I've had something similar happen. I contacted Brian via email about a set of pistons that the skirts cracked in the exact same manner. Car ever made more than 350whp on a 2.4. Never experienced any detonation that a stock piston wouldn't have taken in stride, pistons look great except for...

oil cooled big 16g good or bad?

It doesn't take driving hard and high boost to get the turbo pretty hot. Drive at 70mph for 5-10 min at night(no boost only vacuum), pull over and pop the hood in a dark place. You will see the manifold, and turbine housing glowing a bit.To the OP, I ran a B16g for around 15k miles...

    Holset Turbos, PART 7

This sounds like you capped the boost line off and didn't have any boost signal going to the wastegate?
  40. aero_sallee

tial wastegate install = no idle

You didn't accidentally unplug the MAF plug part way while installing the WG ? Also large vacuum leaks can sometimes cause it.It shouldn't be dumping at idle unless the fire ring is missing, or there isn't a spring in the gate at all.

    Oiling a Borg Warner..

Which is it though, a GM-8 or a Duramax turbo? The GM-8 is off the older 6.5 diesels and is a much smaller turbo than the turbos on the Duramax trucks. It would probably be good to know for the people helping with the oiling.

    Bosch 044 Real World Limits

The lack of a rewire is killing the pump performance I believe. IIRC the 044 draws more power than a 255 so the rewire is even more important.Especially at your higher boost/fuel pressures where current draw goes up quite a bit.

    Important question?

Get them to send you what you ordered. SBR is famous for sending the wrong stuff. Make them take care of it.I prefer running off the O2, or collector. I hate the sound of a dumped WG that runs off a single runner if you choose that. Its also easier to recirculate back into the exhaust...
