I do have the crank at TDC for a 6bolt. Thank you. What I'm trying to do is allign the cam gears. I don't think they are aligned per my locking tool. Please look at the orientation of the tool and the lines not being in the window. My question is how do I allign the cam gears so I can lock...
Can anyone kindly let me know if the cam gears are at TDC in this picture? The block is at TDC.If I do have to adjust the cam gears what would be the easiest way? I was think of rotating the block 90 degrees counterclockwise then adjusting the cams with a wrench on the cams. The cams are...
I have read a few old and new threads about experiences using an aftermarket oil pump. I'm considering purchasing an aftermarket pump ITR 6Bolt Oil Pump. Can you guys please share your past or current experiences using an aftermarket pump vs OEM.Just a heads up on my current plan, I will be...
My dumbass did not realize this, but this tire compressor does have a quick connect (picture included). So that should work. Please let me know. The only thing I'm not understanding is "when you said being able to control the output pressure from the compressor."The compressor has a built-in...
Here is a picture of my setup. Basically, just a bare head installed. Do I need to install anything else to perform this test correctly? Also, this is the compressor I will be using. It's a tire compressor. Is this adequate to perform this test? Also, if you could you direct me maybe through...
They are GSC S1's with dual valve springs, hence a lot harder to compress, but as you pointed out the lobe is bigger than stock even if they are just GSC S1's.Can someone here kindly provide a quick cliff note on how to do a compression/leak down test with the cams and timing belt uninstalled...
The cam was stationary, and the cam caps were hand tight. Let me provide you some pictures. From the pictures I provided do you think enough pressure is being put on the valves to keep them slightly open and can be damaged by an engine rotation?
Here's what happened,My freshly rebuilt cylinder head is torqued down to the block, no timing belt installed, no spark plugs installed. Both cams are pointing at 12 0'clock, with the cam caps hand tightened not even fully flush with the cylinder head, but there is some pressure on the valves...
Got it man. Thanks!I just got it out from the top with a 17mm regular wrench/stubby. Not looking forward to installing the new one when it arrives this week.
I'm about to pull the factory rack and I'm stuck on the 17mm power steering line nut (green circle). First, do I use a flare/line wrench or regular wrench? Second, did you use a stubby wrench, because the 17mm I'm using is too long and I can't properly place it over the nut? Thanks.
Can someone kindly provide the torque specs for the cam caps on a 6 bolt head when using ARP bolts ARP Cam Tower Bolts. The instructions that came with the tower bolt kit says 168in-lbs. That does not seem right considering the factory OEM cam cap bolts is between 14 -16in-lbs
I'm stuck on the same question. I'm trying to replace my 1991 Talon AWD Rack and Pinion, but Rock Auto has it broken down by FWD and AWD and Detroit Axel list states that they fit all models Galant's, Talons, Eclipses, and Lasers. Does anyone have a definitive answer?
For any of the people that have installed the shorter wire OEM Knock sensor. Did you have to extend the wire to reach the connection? Thanks.I recently purchased an OEM Shorter wire Knock sensor and was curious if this needs to be done. I'm installing this on a 1991 Talon Tsi
The one I ordered from AutoZone is a 2000 Eclipse V6 power brake booster. It's just way to big to cram into the corner of a 1G.I want to upgrade the booster and master cylinder because I'm doing a CSTV swap and because the OEM master cylinder was leaking into the brake booster...
I recently bought a 3G Power Brake Booster from AutoZone. This brake booster is way too big and does not fit in my 1GA DSM (non ABS). Can someone point me in the right direction on which one I should be ordering? It does not have to be from AutoZone it can be from anywhere. Below is the link of...
Hey Guys,I'm so confused right now. My research led me to believe this is a bolt on mod for a 1G with the right parts.
I currently have the whole brake kit (Caliper, Rotors, SS Lines) including the big brake adapter kit...
Kind of a blanket statement w/o any facts to back it up. I'm very interested on what caused him to make this comment because I'm currently in the process of purchasing a used Jacks Transmission with the Ultimate Synchro Build for my 91 Tsi.
Hey everyone. I placed an order ($850) with STM about a month ago. I ordered 8 items. 1 of the 8 items STM 1G/2G DSM O2 Housing Recirculated has to be fabricated and was told it takes about 3-4 weeks.Since I placed the order I have not received a single item. I emailed them yesterday and...
I'm a DSM noob ordering from them and to be honest I'm a little concerned. I ordered over $1000 worth parts including a STM O2 housing which does take about 2-4 weeks to be made. It's been about 2 weeks and I have not received a single part.
There is a $10 kit that I just bought from RockAuto. Worked perfectly for my 1991 Talon pump. I followed the exact same article you provided.I would buy the kit and slowly disassemble your pump matching up the used rings and gasket with the kit. If your missing any o rings, just buy a mm...
I did some measurements and it came to about 1 3/4 depth. The Alpine speaker I was using had a 2 inch depth.I'm not sure if depth is the only issue I might be having. The with of the magnet at the end of the speaker will need to be taken into consideration.I was thinking about ditching the...
I'm in the process of replacing my 1g's speakers. I recently purchased some Alpine S-S40 speakers to replace the 4inch speakers by the windshield. These speakers were listed on multiple car audio websites as being able to fit, but unfortunately they don't without some serious modification.Can...
This weekend I spent time installing a Greddy Turbo Timer. I had this Turbo Timer back in the day and wanted the same setup as before. I understand these are kind of pointless, but just thought it would be cool to have it. I even got the harness adapter to avoid chopping into the factory...
I appreciate the welcome and Thank you!It definitely did take some guts on my part. If I did not build up the experience and knowledge from looking at the prior 7 or 8 other cars I don't think I would of done it. Also, if I did mention it prior the seller was a very straight and honest guy...
We are in both very similar situations. I would like to keep the my 1991 Eagle Talon TSI as stock looking as possible. I just found this after doing some research:Forge VW 1.8T Alloy Side Mount Intercooler – UroTuningI would pursue this now, but I'm in the middle of restoring the interior...
Hey Everyone,Little background about me real quick. I live in NY and just turned 40 and have been experiencing nostalgia. You see, when I was in my teens I owned multiple DSM's, and absolutely loved them, but had little experience fixing them, and little money to mod them correctly. I always...
