Is a smart man. I got rid of Facebook long ago. But I do need to get back on working on my cars. I’ve had a turbo here for 2 months and just haven’t installed it
Not much happening with either one, turbo fried in the GST, and the GS has just been waiting for my spouse to get another job so I have income to play with. I’m bummed because I can’t drive either now, but I’ll get to them.
I believe that is the sensor/switch for the hood. I looked at mine, and since there isn’t an under hood light, it must be for an indicator on the dash I would suspect. I’ve never driven without my hood latched all the way, so I’m not 100% positive about that. But it mounts on the core support...
Not sure it will really go well with the green, but I do love pink. Was going to do my accents in pink but ended up with purple instead. Have a black GS that I was planning on using the pink for
Are you changing the overall color of the car eventually as well? Pink will not go well with the green IMO, but black will... however, if you are changing the car color, it won’t hurt to start the collection of pink now. And pink and black, honestly look the absolute best together.
On the GST, ordered throttle shaft seals, throttle body gaskets, new coils, (noticed smoke, found cracked coil arcing) new plugs and wires, injector isolators and o-rings replaced, and a new fuel filter. Also got a notification from one of the local yards that they just received an RS. So I’ll...
Not that it didn’t cross my mind, that’s why I will be investigating tomorrow, pretty sure something popped loose, just had many other things to do today. Wasn’t really sure where to post as it was more of a “hey this happened” not a “hey guys what the heck is going on” type of post. Today was a...
Driving home from work this morning, everything was fine. In 5th gear, (possibly 60-70 as no speedo) step on the throttle for a bit of fun, boost gauge hits ~20 psi, fuel cut (I think) starts popping and throwing a flame from the exhaust. My buddy was next to me and texted about the flame. After...
Mostly just tinkered with the GST, trying to tame my idle. Found something that made say WTF. A wire, taped off at the end (but bare copper still showing) tapped into one of the O2 sensors. The wire was resting on the trans.
Got her all back together and running again. Which means just in time to go back to work tomorrow. Lol. Seats are also in, as well as the new boost gauge.
I have 3 within 30 miles of me.... and there is 1, yes only 1 99 GS between the 3 of them. Heading out there this week to see what all o can scavenge for the GS. :thumb:
Decided to use the seats from the GS for the GST for now. They aren’t in perfect condition either, but way better off than the GST seats. Swapping everything over while waiting on under-hood parts to arrive. Trying to get them all cleaned up now
As I’m looking back at other photos I have, the lower port on the IM was run to the PCV, the upper port on the IM went to my BOV, and the side vent on the VC went back to the intake. I will hook them all back up just like that, unless one of you guys or gals, tells me it was wrong from the...
The tube that goes to the lower part of the intake manifold was routed back to the intake. I’m figuring most of the oil issue from the top side was the PCV luckily. With no signs of excessive oil in other parts should mean I don’t have to worry about the turbo for a while. And there is almost no...
Almost no oil in the charge pipes. More of a thin oily film. Definitely leaning towards PCV system. Have to replace all the couplings on the turbo system though, some are cracked, and others are just nasty, or just a bit too big and clamped as tight as they could.
Thanks to the Taboo Speed Shop vacuum diagram I went through and deleted my evap stuff, all my vacuum lines, and even made my own EGR block off plate. Just used thin metal between the valve and gasket. Mounted (not installed yet) my new Blox MBC, while disconnecting the waste gate actuator line...
So today..... we’ll technically yesterday but it’s 5:45am and I still haven’t been to sleep... I watched rain fall on my now 2 DSMs. Today I plan on getting my GST back together up to the point of valve cover that is being shipped, and also gutting the Interior of the GS to possibly use some of...
If you look at the car scene in general, the newer generation of car people want new, tunable, and “flashy” cars... the people who love the 90’s cars, especially the DSM are getting older, having family’s and such and being more “responsible” (for what that’s worth). And the kids out there are...
After a long day picking up my second DSM, I’ve returned home to find this waiting waiting for me. Time to bypass most of the vacuum system in the car and add in the boost controller
So..... for $250 and a whole lot of travel twine to borrow a truck and a trailer, I am new the owner of a 95 420a GS. I’ll post pics tomorrow when the sun is out
I will post more good pics when I go see it. The old man selling it knows nothing about it as it was his grandsons. All he knows is the grandson was driving it one day and it just shut off... had some shade tree mechanics look at and couldn’t figure it out from what he said. It may end up being...
