I have just completed a 1gina2g swap with an automatic transmission. I installed the kiggly racing conversion kit that includes the thicker plates. I also turned the pilot bushing around and grinded it down like John at IPT recommends.
My thinking is, the torque convertor and ring gear have...
"Red Eagles are the same as they always been. Cellulose base saturated with a hard resin then a silicate. My theory is.....They wanted a friction that was easier on the Nitrate Treated Steel plates while having a very short lock-up time (higher coefficient of friction) This is a very delicate...
Hi, just wondering if anyone has used the Alto Red Eagle clutches and kolene steels, if so what fluid would you recommend for them?
Ok Im starting to research its all good but my next reply is some food for thought...
"Hi everybody" I got a squealing sound and found the cause, its the starter motor. I firstly pulled it apart cleaned it and it got worse so I thought ok what did I do??? I know I shaved the bushing for the torque converter so its closer to the engine now, so I shimmed the starter and the...
My last build I filled the engine up with oil before I did the timing belt, I spun the oil pump with a drill too make sure there were no leaks. It turned out to be a great idea because I forgot to put on my cam seals.
How much money are you willing to pour into this project, and how much time have you got on your hands, and how much knowledge and experience have you got? They are good questions to ask your self? How much space have you got and are you organised? Whats your goals? GOOD LUCK & enjoy the journey...
Im in the same boat, total newb but i'm guessing you firstly have to work out which engine management system your going to go with, then learn everything about that system. Essentially they all strive for the same thing but in different formats. I was going to go with Haltech but as Jafro says...
I looked at it and thought I can't wait for my ECU to return with the converted ecmlink chip, its on the plane crossing the ocean right now yeeeeehaaa grandmaaaI feel your pain, mine just came out of a 3 year coma, now for the long rehabilitation to get it back where it belongs racing those...
Sounds like crossed wires, I would unscrew the relay/fuse box and turn it over and make sure theres no wires touching. Specifically the wire going to the starter motor.
The holes on the flex plate wont line up nor will the starter plate. I bought the kiggly racing conversion kit and the first thing i noticed was how strong the flex plate was, so that was a good start plus the bushing was in the kit which i followed Johns advice from IPT and turned it around and...
Mary Mary why you bugging, or Mary Mary how does your garden grow, or Mary jane... so many Mary songs, just trying to make you smile thats all... GOD BLESS. Your Spyder is tangled in a web of lies and deceit, put your Spyder out of its misery and squash it or how about the DSM community put our...
Its crazy you could buy another engine for $2700.00. Just thinking what I could do with that money, the upgrades, could probably buy ecmlink, bigger turbo, bigger camshafts, forge the engine, 3 inch exhaust... the list goes on
That sucks balls big time! If it was me I would complain till the cows came home. 99% of the time when you're doing a timing belt, you change balance shaft belt, the water pump and tensioner and pulleys as well as the timing belt, that's standard practice. You only have to look on EBay to see...
I’m guessing you checked the wiring relays etc for the compressor? Usually it’s the clutch that needs testing could be just a bad ground? Im no expert but I like the idea of buying something cheap that doesn’t take up to much room and turning over a profit and learning something too!
Classic, yeah autos are the way to go especially for a daily. I also have 3 4g63t"s and 1 4g64 and two manual transmissions & 3 W4A33's. The W4A33 is a strong box plus you can muck around with shift settings and strengthen the internal parts like the kick down band the shafts and springs. But...
Your best bet is to buy a second hand tranny and rebuild it and do a swap out, then you have two or just sell one but at least thats less time the car has to be off the road plus its good to have spare parts when it comes to theses auto boxes, they are becoming rare.
Hi Miguel, thanks for the entertainment, how much was your initial investment may I ask? In regards to the leak, are you sure its from the transfer case? I thought it had a different coloured fluid to Transmission fluid. Its possible the leak is coming from the drive shaft seal. If you ever want...
G'day from Down Under..., sounds like you got the makings of a fun car! Check the ECU to see if its been chipped with ECMLink, if not definitely purchase it, because these engines need management. Good luck!
ok so if I go with the position of the wires and not the colours I should be right? My ECU is from a 96-97 model 2G, would I still need to invert the cas?
Im guessing the white goes to the cam signal on the 1g & 2g ecu's and the red and black are power and the thinner black wire is for the crank signal on 1g ecu's.
So if I already have the kiggly crank sensor setup I wouldn't need to use the thinner black wire on the 1g cas and just connect the...
G'day from down under...
Ive been doing a 6bolt swap and went to install the 2g cas and realised I have a 1g intake cam. Should I take that cam out and replace it with the intake cam that has the screw hole in the end or just install the 1g cas and wire it to the 2g cas connector. I already...
Hello my name is Cam, I wont ask stupid questions, my plan is to hopefully buy parts and have them posted to Australia. I own a RVR and i'm building a 6 bolt beast.
