done, everything works perfectly. Thanks for the help!
Here’s whats it in, 93 GSX 65k everything factory except radiator. I think that red stuff is from a GVR4. I swapped it from a spare galant motor I have
I just realized the axle is not splined into the trans. Maybe with the combination of washers and the fact that it’s hanging not connected to the trans it is hitting due to the sag. Probably if you got the correct spacer and it was splined into the trans it wouldn’t hit.
So obviously, these spring retainer bolts come with sealant from the factory however, the service manual does not call out the use of anything here. Does anyone know what sealant is used here? It looks green
Sorry to turn this into a trans build thread....but I keep finding things that don't add up, "at least to the parts catalog."I decided to take a look at 2nd gear synchro and noticed that this "stock" 93 GSX trans has a double synchro 2nd. Do 93-94 trans have double synchro 2nd? (I know 2G...
I’m just wondering if this is server hot spots or just some surface glazing that occurred? I swear it wasn’t this bad after I removed the clutch, this appeared after sitting.
So here’s another dilemma. In the photos you will see the fifth gear, hub and slider. The one on the left is out of the stock 93 GSX. The one on the right is an OEM replacement I just received, part number. MD747653. So I’m wondering if this is a superseded part number which is why the slider is...
From the start of the post until now I have changed transmissions ( I own two of these heart breakers). The recent photos including the sub gear is out of a 93 AWD.Also Amayama checks and verifies part availability before you are able to submit payment, it's a day turn around." MD742728 (3rd...
Thank you,
Yes I see the cone spring which should be compressed by the snap ring. However, on the sub gear there are little arrows. Do these need to be clocked even tho the gear spins? Also the gear and many other parts are available in Japan here

The photo shows...
Hey thanks. Does this apply to the 5th slider as well. More tapered side towards clutch housing?
Sorry for all the questions i appreciate the support!
Ha also what’s up with the 3rd gear sub gear? Does this come assembled if you order a new 3rd gear from Mitsu? If not how do you correctly...
Hey I just wanted to make absolutely sure of something that's making me nervous. in the photo of I have circled the lips of the slider. 4th gear is on top and 3rd is on the bottom. Does the "taller" part of the slider face 3rd gear or 4th like the photo?
I have attempted to find this info without really getting a confident answer. However, I can only assume it is due to a supersession, but my part catalog does not show this.In the photos you will see two 5th gear assemblies next to each other. The one of the left came out of a 1993 GSX AWD...
Because measuring individually give me a spec, but not when crushing the solder all together. Therefore, how would the bearings get the appropriate preload when all shims are in if the input shaft doesn’t crush the solder when the solder is under the others?
Yes new bearings except the lower...
Thank youIt’s hard to understand why the solder doesn’t crush when doing all the bearings at once. This makes me think that when I do them individually and select the appropriate shim thickness the preload will not be correct when fully assembled l?
yesThanks for the info. I saw your page on shim thickness guide. My question is when performing the solder method individually, is solder placed behind one race only and nothing behind the others, no shim or solder?
i.e., place solder behind the input shaft and nothing but the race on the...
I see what you mean I guess I didn’t pay attention to that. However, when I placed the .062” rosin core solder in the designated places per the service manual I did the intermediate shaft and input shaft bearings together and use the existing shim on the center diff because I did not replace...
In the photo you will see the intermediate shaft assembly sits slightly higher than the input shaft assembly in the case. I believe this is causing too much clearance between the input shaft bearing race and the case which doesn't crush the solder at all when assembled.
I did replace both top...
Yeah thanks I’m starting to think that my coolant issue is just that I’m pushing it too far on 93 and lifting the head.
So if I see this coolant does this mean my head gasket is already smoked? However, I have no other coolant issues or drivability related problems
i see, however 30 psi is just closed loop boost control on 93. The car is E85 ready just not today. The idea is to run way more than 30psi. I’m just not sure what’s going on here with that coolant spray. The head and block were recently machined.
So after a test pull on the street @ 26-30 Psi to 7000 RPM 43db knock (Haltech elite) on 93 I noticed evidence of coolant on the transfer pipe which looks to be coming from the water/pump o-ring to pipe connection. (See photo).
I’m not sure if I should be concerned about this, but I kinda am...
Well here’s the real story……
I went to a tuner and he was having trouble with boost control (couldn’t get anything past the waste gate springs), so it ended early with moderate numbers. He suspected a circuit problem……so I went home a checked and there were no circuit issues at all as suspected...
