Yes, it will be a good system even without other mods. Also, backpressure concerns are more for normally aspirated vehicles. The fact that the turbo is in the exhaust stream changes the thought and theory of backpressure. The turbine creates all the backpressure you will ever need.Oops...
GS-T and GSX stock should be close in the 1/4 mile. The GSX will get the T off the line, but then the GS-T will start to battle back.If you look at alot of the original stats it would show the GSX being faster from 0-40 MPH, but at 0-60 MPH and higher the GS-T was the winner.Things...
If you are loking for best results and looks for lowest price I recommend going to a local exhaust shop and having it custom made. Most retail exhaust systems are overpriced (I will still probably get an N1).
Lots of questions at once..1) I have owned both a GS-T and GSX and I got better gas mileage on my GS-T2) You may wear out your tires more if you race around alot since you will probably do a lot of little burnouts.3) I have not noticed that it is any louder. If you are...
I recommend MSD wires. They are high quality wires, but for some reason most DSM owners over look them. With all the issues with Magnecro I would think that people would finally stop calling them the best wire.
I find it comical that this question was directed towards road racing a DSM inititially and everyone else quickly made it a drag racing and wings question. Focusedrage was asking about the use of a Spoiler for road racing and the answer is a huge "yes". In a road race setup a spoiler is...
In my GS-T I was hit almost directly head on and nothing like that happened. They ended up repairing my car and it has now hit 195K miles on the original engine and turbo. The civic was totalled that hit me. He went to take a left onto the highway ramp and hit me on the driver side front...
On a side note. If you get 8.5mm wires I would get MSD not Magnecor. After doing a lot of reading Magnecor has crappy customer service if something goes wrong. They will blame it on you car. Also if you upgrade in the future to an MSD ignition you will be unabl eto use the Magnecor wires...
I am pretty sure that the Greddy UICP is setup to only work with a Greddy BOV. If you wanted to use another type you would have to change the flange. I think you would actually need to weld a different one on.
The difference between the Buschurs and Hahns is that Hahn's replace the stock 02 housing while the Bushur does not. Since the Hahn's replaces the stock 02 unit you do not need to port or upgrade since it is already part of the package.
I wouldn't think it is the B&M. I had one on my old GS-T for two years and didn't have an issue. Did you upgrade or check the shifter bushings. Energy Suspension sells a kit for $15. It is suppossed to eleminate the extra play.
With a 20G you should be able to go all the way to redline and hold the boost. By shifting early you are probably loosing some spoolup. I am guessing since I have never driven a 20G equipped (only 16G and T25).I would say that alot probably has to do with driving and shifting. Keep...
Looks like you are launchimg without building any rpm or boost to start. You should have around a 1.9xx 60' time and that is at the slower end. Try revving to around 5K and slipping the clutch on launch or better yet read some other posts on how to launch car. That will gain you some time...
I have been reading for several months now and it is very clear that there are many subtle differences between the 1G and 2G. In some cases they are for the better and some are for the worse. In order to make it a little easier for everyone's research I thought it would be a good idea to list...
I can attest to the engine going well past 115. My old GS-T is still going strong with 192K miles. Did I mention it still has the stock turbo and I in no way took very good care of the engine. I owned it back before I got a true appreciation for cars.
I highly recommend against venting to the atmosphere. This has been deeply discussed many times before, but venting to the atmosphere may sound good, but hurts the performance of your car. You will run very rich in between shifts and the car will stutter when you get back on the gas...
Yes, the blow off valve bolts on to the UICP. They may have just been referring to the nice clean dump inlet on the injen for recirculation verses the stock intake with the long dump tube.Any BOV should be good. I recommend the Greddy Type S
That sounds sweet. I heard that you can actually tap into the cylinders to get the best indication of how you are running. I am going to try that this weekend.I will let you know and we can share tuning secrets.
If you are going to tap both then you will need to different guages and probes. The previous post was saying one or the other.Sorry if you were just kidding or being sarchastic. It is tough too pick up by someone's writing.
Are you sure that your boost guage is reading accurately? I am sure it is possible that you are hitting 18, but it is alos very possible your guage is wrong.
Check out VFAQ.com. They have an wiring diagram that allows you to eleminate the second 02 sensor and that will take care of all your problems. If you don't follow the diagram you should be able to bring it to radio shack and they could help you get the right parts.
To clarify the Thermal is a three inch system, but it does reduce down so that it can connect to the stock cat.The difference between the Thermal and the N1 with 3" piping is that that reducing section on the N1 is a sepereate piece while the Thermal is not. Therefore, if you wanted to go...
For that price most people will recommend the ApexN1 or the Thermal. I would personally go with the N1 since it easily adapts to be a true 3" all the way through when and if you decide to upgrade the DP and Test pipe or high flow cat.
I prefer the Apex N1 for the catback. Another bonus is that you when you get a downpipe and highflow cat you can easily go to a true 3" system since the reducer on the N1 is a seperate piece. Most other exhaust you would need to have cut and welded.
Sorry to hear about the car. Hopefully you wil get it back up and running soon. How many miles did you have when it went?Wish I could help with your question, but I havn't gone through that...yet.
Purchase stiffer motor mounts. You will be amazed at the difference. Most likely Energy Suspensions will make a set of polyurethane inserts for the OEM mounts (At least they do for Hondas). It will make your launch nice and smooth, The downside is you may get some moe vibration through...
How about the Greddy Air/Fuel gauge? Is that a worthwhile option. I know it has an 02 sensor, but is that the same as a wideband 02 sensor. The only problem I would think it would have is that you cannot get a good ratio by RPM since it can't be read to a computer or datalogger.I guess...
Yes you did the right thing. I would try and find some place more reputable. I do not recommend trying to do the install yourself unless someone experienced from this board is willing to help.I noticed your sig and need to ask if you are really being serious. If not you have put some...
Welcome to DSMTUNERS.Don't know much about swapping engines, but from the reading I did most people recommend against it. The again that is probably mostly opinion since they haven't tried it either.Good Luck either way!
I have one and hooked up a motor to the turbine and connected it to my battery. As soon as I start the car the fan begins to turn. The seat of the pants dyno is at least a gain of 25HP at idle.Yes, there is no way that that works!
An Integra LS would not be able to beat those others cars if they just had a gutted cat and that is it.The only way they could have beat the other cars is if they were not actually racing or the drivers were very bad. I owned a ITR and I ran a 14.7 stock and a 14.2 with a Spoon Header and...
I am trying to decide what to use for engine management and I was curious what benefits the AEM unit provides over DSMLINK. I have easy access to a 95 ecu so that should be taken out of the issues list. My buddy owns a 95 so I was thinking that we could just switch. One thing I noticed that...
