Located in Northern CaliforniaUpdate: After rebuilding the car, it ran fine at first, but after about a week later I didn't notice I was running the car on low coolant and was overheating the car. The next day it started...
Was working on my thermostat and found out the o2 sensor harness was ripped. Its only the black wire tho, the yellow and red is good. I didn't have any CEL come on so am I still good is it still functioning? or do I need to replace the harness or is there another way ti fix the...
Ok so I took my car for a drive ran good for first few minutes, but moments later the car ran like crap, couldn't even go faster than 20mph. I slowly drove the car home and when I arrived the engine was smoking like hell and noticed coolant was leaking. I just want to be sure that the sluggish...
It only happens when I step on the throttle as the engine runs harder, there's a single loud metal thump, similar to a hammer hitting the oil pan, from to under the engine. I doubt it's a rod knock cause its not constant, there's about a 3 second gap between each knock and as the engine slows...
I just rebuilt the car and it wont even idle right. When I step on the throttle, seems like the response is sluggish and inst giving its full power when I step on it, even the rpms wont go up and isn't moving as I rev and for some reason when I let my foot off the throttle the engine then starts...
It cranks for a brief moment, than hesitates by spinning slowly and repeats. It won't continuasly spin. My timing marks are good and I just charged my battery..
I'm trying to prime my rebuilt engine but there isn't any oil getting to the lifters when I spin the oil sprocket with a drill. Has brand new 3g lifter I bleed them out before install, oil pump was reconditioned and did a balance shaft delete. I filled the engine with only 3.5 quarts is that...

4g63t engineUpdate: I rebuilt the car, it ran fine at first, but after about a week later I didn't notice I was running on low coolant and was overheating the car. It later started blowing white smoke out the pipe...
My oil feed line snapped, I just wanted to make sure if this was the right item to buy because it looks different since its only 1 line instead of 2 lines...
I ran upon 2 wires that we're cut while working on my car today. The first one is right below the alternator. Anyone know what's the wires called and their purpose thanks?!
How can I find top dead center without removing the crank sprocket, covers, and belts that's in the way? My camshaft sprockets were removed so I cant use that as a reference.
I don't want to disassemble and buy a whole new crankshaft if it's not all that bad. It's light scoring I can feel with my fingernails. It's overall more smooth than scoring tho. The 3rd journal is not scoring just dirty.
Ok so my mechanic was putting in my pistons today, and noticed one of the connecting rod caps had some side to side play. The rod cap would easily wiggle left and right with little force, hitting the side walls even after torquing (too much clearance) the other 3 rods was firm and wouldn't...
I was wondering if I can use a fuel system cleaner such as sea foam, royal purple, or red line on a rebuilt engine just to have it be as clean as possible and smog ready. The brand new parts is the pistons, rings, bearings, and main gaskets, everything else was cleaned up. I haven't touched the...
I only found 1 good source for the 4g63 turbo torque specs.. Everything else I found only says 4g63, I'm guessing they use the same torque specs right?????
Im on a budget and decided to resurface using sand paper. The problem is when I shine a flashlight I can see very little indents across the surface. Is this bad or is it ok? I would keep sanding but I'm afraid of over sanding.
Say for example, this part needs be torqued to 94-101 ft. lbs., where in between 94-101 is the best to torque it at?andHow do I torque this 14+90°+90°?
I know rust is a bad look, but does it cause issues or is it just a cosmetic thing? Say for example my engine is rusty and I keep driving it like that, does that cause any acctual problems or is it just a personal preference on how it looks?
Im looking to upgrade my stock t25 turbo on a budget. I found a ebay t3/t4 turbo kit for a fair price. Is it worth it? Is it better than the t25? https://www.ebay.com/itm/DSM-1G-2G-MIT-EVO-III-T04E-STAGE-II-T3-TURBO-CHARGER-MANIFOLD-UPGRADE-KIT-BOOST/201827040527
So someone took my engine apart but never came back to put it together, I'm going to put it back together myself as soon as I get my new pistons in, but the wires and hoses are scattered all over the place and I have no idea which goes where!!!
