Got this thing to start and idle.. rough. It seems like its missing but I have good injectors that are pulsing and all for plugs are sparking. Plugs look black from running rich so im thinking i must have a huge vacuum or boost leak. It hardly idles and won't rev at all.So far I've replaced...
Got the new tank, fuel pump and everything put back in and together.Tried to start it today and it only started with starting fluid. I do have fuel at the rail now.So I ordered some injectors, a fuel rail and pressure regulator from a local guy and I'll try again later this week.
also did brakes from POWERSTOP today and threw on some Megan racing springs. I know they suck on stock struts but I got the springs for a good deal and they were brand new and already on stock struts. Figured I'd try them to see if I like the height before I spend money on coilovers.
Well got the new to me fuel tank in. The junk yards puncture them all to drain them so I had my brother in law tig weld it up for me.What do you think? I'll post the new one and my old one.. lol
one more update for today. My car has a solid back rear seat. I wanted to put in nicer seats and the solid back are just harder to find. I had bought a partout car that had great interior and seats. If you didn't know, the split back seats have an additional bracket in the car that the sold...
The plugs and wires I pulled were trashed... this could possibly be the reason the previous owners said It had a "misfire" or "ran poorly" and they then parked it for 10 years.....
Honestly I just did it as simple as possible. Shopvac, simple green, water and rags. It took a lot of time, but turned out okay. The seats turned out okay but had some stains. I used resolve dry shampoo on them with a brush and vacuum. I ended up replacing all the seats from a parts car I...
Tried to start it Saturday.. no fuel.Pulled the pump and looked in the tank.. well crap.Trying to source a tank right now. There are 4 1gs in a yard 100 miles from me. Probably will head there Thursday morning.
I've replaced the entire interior, found a factory radio and plug, did the timing, water pump, belts, oil & filter, fuel filter, plugs and wires, and tons more. Dunno if you guys want photos or not LOL
yesterday I found good condition sun visors, a shift boot with only one quarter inch crack, and the plastic hardware for the hatch wing! The other day I also found the plastcis for the pop up headlight, fuse cover and all the remaining turn signals /side markers! woot
Got the interior in for the most part. working on a few other items and then its time for mechanical, timing and tune up! Then we can try to start her!
Just in a junk yard. It has surface scratches from previous owners cleaning it over the years, but it's way better then mine was. Mine looked like someone took a pocket knife to the right side lol.
Lots of progress on Saturday. Replaced the foam sealant on both sides if the blend door diverter (whatever you guys call it..) then I got my dash back in, center console and put my tail lights on.. getting excited to get this girl on the road!
also check coolant levels (which you will do with a thermostat i'm sure).. one of my other vehicles will run fine all summer and in the winter it will do the same thing as you're describing. I'll check coolant and top off and it will be fine all winter.
Some new parts showed up yesterday! I won some breaks from a big jeep trip event I was invited to last November. I didn't need brakes in the jeep so I ordered new ones for the car.Powerstop carbon ceramic pads and new rotors. Woot!
Also got my NGK plugs from supporting this site! They came fast!
Welcome! Looks like a good project. I agree with techboy. My other suggestion is to start hoarding interior parts and body parts. That is a 1Ga car so one of 2 years they had pop up headlights. The turn signal markers are getting harder and harder to find.
Was tipped off to a 1gb talon in the junk yard. Showed up first thing the morning and pulled the dash and some odds and ends. There were 2 other people who came by. Glad I snagged stuff first! Lol
Yeah I'm meaning the knob on the dash... I got a hot lead on a 1gb in a junkyard with a pristine interior. I'm going first thing in the morning to pull the whole dash..
Glad you got it back up and running. I'm in Utah too, though about 2 hours south of you. I'm new to the DSM game (not automotive stuff) but if you need a hand let me know.
Hey! I've tried to search around but haven't been able to find much information. So pardon my noobness with DSM's if I missed a thread out there.Basically I drug this car out of a neighbors backyard where it sat for 8 or so years. I've stripped most of the car down to replace parts the PO's...
