    Yeah it was jh racing

    Experience with JHPerformance

I just picked up a jhperformance t4 bottom mount twinscroll manifold from another dsmer. It seems very solid. Does anybody else run one? I was curious to see if I'll run into any fitment issues.

    2G Repairing body damage

Ok, the frame rails are straight. I started pulling the body out and the door fits great now. I'm now welding in a new rad core support. The mud on the tire is from rolling it through the mud into the garage, not from the accident. The control arms and the rods are all still good too. Whatever...

NEW! 2G front and rear subframe bushings + diff bushings

My cars in pieces at the moment but I'd like to pick up some of this stuff later in the year. You come highly recommended by a friend of mine.

    2G Turbo choice opinions

Ok, I found and bought a 7 blade hx35 from a friend of mine who's got a diesel shop. The goal for my car is around 600 awhp. I've got access to e85 and plan to run it and I've got L19 studs since I plan on running loads of boost. Should I sell my hx35 and buy an hx40 or throw on the hx35 and let...

General Evo 8 ECU in auto 2g

Well, I started the adventure. I picked up an open ECU cable, evoscan/ecuflash, a 01 Eclipse 4cyl manual ECU, I started repinning the harness and I downloaded a couple ROMs. It feels good to finally be doing something with it.

General Evo 8 ECU in auto 2g

Good call. I'm used to GM PCMs from my previous modded cars. I can't believe I totally forgot about the TCU. I guess I'll be doing some harness changes in the near future.

General Evo 8 ECU in auto 2g

I'm going to do more digging. The wiring may not even be necessary but I highly doubt it.

General Evo 8 ECU in auto 2g

I'm leaving towards the Evo ECU in my Talon since it appears to be cheaper than DSMLink (I would go with link if I had more money to spend).Anyways, I've read a few threads on it but, it seems like the people are using the Evo ECU have manual transmissions. Has anyone one here swapped a Evo...

    2G Repairing body damage

It's the shell itself though. The door is semi fine

    2G Repairing body damage

I don't have a good picture of the body damage but, my talon was side swiped on the front passenger corner. It busted up the rad core support a bit and bumped the passenger door back about an inch. The suspension is still good and t damage appears to be just shell related. I'm debating on either...

No not yet. I will be before the cage though. I've also got to remove the air bags and abs unit.

Finally in business with my 2g!!!

Check out the firing order and injector wiring to see if it was swapped to the 97+. I'm in the same boat you are though. 97 engine in a 95 tsi

    Eagle Talon Tsi

Thanks. I've got some wiring to do since its a 97 engine and a 95 body. It's been pretty fun so far.

More gutting today. Still not finished yet.

    Bosch injectors

In the spirit of my budget build, I'd like to buy some Bosch injectors instead of fic or id injectors. I know the length is 60mm oring to oring. Could I buy some Bosch injectors, have them flow matched, and put some of the caps on them to make them 60mm?
  22. BasketcaseTSI

    Send it or not?

I'll have to upload pictures later but, someone was paying attention at graveyard the day they built this one. I added my L19s and I'll run it.

    2G Manumatic wiring

That's exactly what I was looking for, thank you.
  24. BasketcaseTSI

WHY are 1G's better than 2G's????

While the 2g looks a bit dated, it still looks pretty good. Unlike the brand new eclipse....
  25. BasketcaseTSI

    2G Manumatic wiring

Does anyone have a "shift box" wiring diagram for a 2g? I was hoping to find a shift box style deal where I can toggle it on and off. Is it the same as a 1g blue wire or kiggly mod? I've got the service manual set so I can identify the wires and stuff, I just need a diagram or link to go off of.
  26. BasketcaseTSI

WHY are 1G's better than 2G's????

I own a 2g but I would have loved to be able to find a clean awd laser as cheap as I got the talon for.
  27. BasketcaseTSI

    Eagle Talon Tsi

Most of it will stay talon. I prefer the eclipse front end though.

    This forum is frustrating.....

I'm not sure where to find it but there is a plug in for chrome that allows you to see the pictures again.

    Eagle Talon Tsi

The weather finally broke and got better so I had more time to pull the old engine, put the new one in, add the L19 studs, start gutting the interior, and someone minor body work. When I pulled the engine, I found out I have an ipt tc and trans. I also moved it into the partial garage so the...

Ideas to cut Weight 2g dsm

I'm doing something similar with my Awd talon. I just started the removal process but literally almost everything will be removed. Hopefully I'll be sitting around 2500 without me in it. I've already removed most of the front interior stuff and the AC system.

How much rust is too much?

I guess it could be worse. I'd imagine doing 135+ in the 1/4 mile would be like reentry aboard the challenger space shuttle in a super rust car. To me, the car is worth saving even though the girlfriend sees just a pile of parts.
  32. BasketcaseTSI

    Eagle Talon Tsi

Did a bit here and there over the past couple weeks. I picked up a full 4g63 from a 97 that I'll most likely have to swap my 95 cas stuff to. I also bought body pieces with the engine so it doesn't look so horrible now. I added arp L19 studs to the new block and have my head prepped to go to...

    This forum is frustrating.....

Not knowing a lot about these cars is one of the main reasons I don't try to make new threads. I'm getting there slowly though.
  34. BasketcaseTSI

How much rust is too much?

Fair enough. I spent a few months looking for an Awd 4g63 car under 500 to be a budget drag build. Most of the cars I found were 420a cars and people still wanted over 2500. To me the rust is minimal for Michigan, I was just worried about structural integrity since it was on the rails. I'll...
  35. BasketcaseTSI

How much rust is too much?

While unbolting the flexplate bolts I noticed a bit of rust on the "frame" rails. The worst of it is about 4"-5" long. The rest held up pretty solid. I also have the rear corner bit rusted on both sides. It's going to be a dedicated track car so the plan is to strip it down to bare essentials...

    Cheap Wastegate as Exhaust Cutout

So I've been searching and reading a lot lately since the weather has been garbage here and I came across something I haven't heard of until now. I read that there were a few people running a wastegate on the exhaust manifold then a cheap eBay 60mm wastegate further down the exhaust like on the...

    This forum is frustrating.....

That's good to know. I don't want to spread misinformation but I did pick up a service manual/electrics combo that I could contribute with. I've got plenty of updates for my tsi.
  38. BasketcaseTSI

    This forum is frustrating.....

....in a good way of course. I'm trying to get rid of my probationary member title and every time I have a question I search and find the answer.
  39. BasketcaseTSI

    Send it or not?

Long story short, I picked this up as a full engine for a couple hundred and I didn't notice the writing until I started pulling the old engine.
  40. BasketcaseTSI

I'm probably going to run this but, I've heard nothing but bad things about Dsm graveyard.

    Lexan windows for 2g

    Sounds like a plan lol
  42. BasketcaseTSI

    Lexan windows for 2g

I found a few threads on weight reduction. It seems that a lot can be done without switching to poly windows. My talon isn't a "street" car build but it will be driven to and from the track and maybe occasionally through town. Who needs creature comforts anyway?
  43. BasketcaseTSI

    Lexan windows for 2g

Well that sounds delightful. I guess I'll start shedding weight elsewhere
  44. BasketcaseTSI

    Lexan windows for 2g

Does anyone out there still make lexan windows for a 2g. I've been google searching and haven't found much. Off topic a bit but, I'd like to also drop maybe 4-500 lbs from my awd tsi. It's not going to be a street car except on my trips to the drag strip. I found a few articles on weight...
  45. BasketcaseTSI

    Eagle Talon Tsi

Here's a little update. My block is basically trashed on one cylinder so I found another engine that I'll be picking up Friday. I've also picked up my L19 head studs, crower 64414-2 cams, and a COP setup that I'll be using to get rid of wasted spark.
  46. BasketcaseTSI

    Honing or new block?

Perfect, I'm already .020 over lol. I may just do a new block since I'm paying for the machine work anyways.
  47. BasketcaseTSI

    Honing or new block?

Figures lol. That's just my luck. Thanks for the reply
  48. BasketcaseTSI

    Honing or new block?

This is cylinder 2. The previous owner used straight water as coolant. He decided to raise the boost to 29 psi on stock head bolts and lifted the head. Long story short, it sat with water in the cylinder and it pitted a bit on the cylinder wall in a couple spots. Any thoughts on a fix? Would I...
