One year no update... what a shameAnyway, I have finished the project in the meantime. Here are a few impressions from the last adjustment of the suspension:
It is a small hand device called Sense from 3D systems. Thanks all. My rear isnt OEM aswell. I have DSS custom axles to fit my EVO 8 rear Kaaz 1.5 LSD ;)
The front wheel is standing and the rear one turns?!
Correct: I now have a RWD Eclipse :cool:I welded the center diff of my spare EVO III transmission and upgraded to an 300M output shaft.
I also milled some FWD axles to preload the front bearings and plug the transmission exits.
It is amazing...
On the photo it looks as if at least the driver's side is not properly inside.
Give the axle a few light hits with a hammer until the snap ring snaps in.
Stupid question, but the sealing rings are also mounted the right way around?
Why not make one from scrap VC? But I whink you will break the 2-Spyder before you break the outputshaft.
So if you really want RWD I would weld the center diff instead
A lot has happened in the last 4 months!
After the suspension was finished, I went on to the interior. What always bothered me about the Eclipse was the terrible shifting feeling, which didn't get any better with short shifters.
That's why I modified a shifter out of the EVO 8 and mounted it in...
Oh, okay. I think there will always be a difference between CAD and reality. Just because of measurement errors and the fact that you can't replace all the rubber bushings. Specialy on the front suspension compression arm you have some deformation in the bushings because of the multi link type...
Hey ec17pse, nice project. I hope you will get the results you're hoping for.
As you can see in my build thread, I already measured all suspension points on my GSX and analyzed the complete system with the suspension analyzer from Lotus.
I wanted to minimize the bump steer as well ;)
I think the...
So the rear toe arms are ready! It was most complicated to adapt to the outer knuckle, because here you need a cone that has to fit exactly.
The cylindrical part serves as a guide for the outer joint and is calculatingly made longer so that the height of the steering head can be adjusted using...
Thank you!
There are several reasons why I build the suspension arms myself:
- I come from europe, there are NO parts for the GSX here and shipping from the US is relatively expensive.
- I come from europe, we have the metric system and I do not want to buy imperial screws
- Some aftermarket...
The car is finally on its own wheels again!Unfortunately I can't get into the area where I want to go with the OEM eccentric bolts.
Therefore I still have to build myself adjustable wishbones and toe arms...Now that I had a wheel alignment that fits at least halfway, I started to measure...
I ordered KW V3 coilovers with stronger springs directly from KW.
The problem is, they don't supply upper dome mounts and if you take OEM, the spring is always normal(90°) to the bearing surface, which is very bad. But I think all of you know this article from farnorthracing ;)So I used upper...
What has happened so far...Ebay turbo with external wastegate exchanged for OEM EVO III turbo with EVO manifold. New intercooler is inside, black powdered but so that the mesh is not coated inside.Stealth optic with minimal heat transfer losses.New piping, and vacuum hoses are all new and...
Wow, thank you! That was a lot more information than Alex told me.A few things surprise me...The car wasn't running at all, which was also due to the speed density and a lot of boost leaks. In ecmlink everything was stock except the injector size and MAF. If he really drove 23psi, then on...
By the way... do you have some informations about engine and transmission? Alex didn know much/ or don’t want to tell me.
Only thing i know is it is a 6bolt block. But I have no idea if stock or what is modified inside. What type of clutch...?
I could not do a test drive still now, because the...
Yes it is Cayenne red.Dude, jes I got it from Alex. Than you know that the car was in really bad shape... but no chance to find a better in Europe for that price
Hello folks, I'd like to introduce my 97 GSX.
It is altogether my 3rd 2g but my first GSX. Mitsubishi never officially sold the GSX outside the USA, so they are extremely rare in Europe.
I picked up the car in January 2018 in England and restore it so far to get a road registration here.
