Ok I know where now. Ill see if i can get my car back in an hour and look on my break. Also how do you attach pictures in a thread like 19eclipse90 did?
My towers were repair by previous owners who took it somewhere and the shop must of did exactly that because the top is nice and solid but when you go to the bottom side they like coated it but you can see the old strut tower metal so they did exactly what you just explained. I was going to have...
This is a perfect thread for a visual. Extremely helpful to see because I didnt know what to be looking for and i think mine is rusted and it can move so i just need it welded. Thank you!!!!Thank you for describing this into depth detail. I will be using this thread to show the shop so they...
This is probably exactly what it is. Because They welded and finished the top side of the tower but seemed like they didn't really mend the bottom side. Im pretty sure its cracked or not even there really anymore. Is there a way to tell or to see these sleeves you speak of? This is probably why...
Thank you very much. Now my other question is how do I make the one that's moving to stop. Like if you push do on the car it likes to move around and sometimes depend you can move it with your fingers. Would I need to weld it or something underneath?
Im having issues with whatever this part is called wiggling and moving around. When I go to brake it likes to rattle. My towers have been cut and rewelded in that spot so I'm assuming whatever held it in place underneath broke off or something and Im trying to figure out what it's called so I...
I really wanna use a filter but I don't have the money at the moment to get an injen intake. Is there something I can get thats cheaper that would have the adapter and filter?
So the disc part I see in the transmission housing (I don't have the inspection plate cover) is the flexplate? I'm trying to figure out why my car makings a grinding noise when it starts because I thought the teeth were chopped up on the "flywheel (which I guess isnt the right part)" and the...
Well I learned today that the first shop I went to was a bunch of bs. They wanted to replace parts that didn't need to be replaced. But about the flywheel comment its when I go to start it, it makes a lot of noise and all the people that are into cars when they hear it they cringe lol but it...
Hello! So the guy i bought the car from swapped the transmission out with a new (used) transmission out of a 2g but Im not sure and he isnt either of what year and etc. I need a new flywheel but the shop I was at couldn't figure out for certain what one it is so they can get the correct one...
For now since im fixing some suspension parts and can't buy the fun parts I did the "free mod" of cutting out the bov dump tube out of the turbo intake. But I still really want an injen intake instead because the stock intake bothers me so much with the air box as well. But hey for the time...
Yeah i looked around on google more and it is. But now the question is where do I find the set of pipes for the upper portion without the tacky color boots for connecting them :idontknow:Once I figure out what I need im gonna get an injen intake for the turbo and probably an evo bov even...
That diagram is perfect! Thank you very much. Im looking for a better name for the 8 and 6 piece on that diagram which by looking at it, its the upper intercooler piping and yes im running with the stock sidemount intercooler but a 16g turbo
Whats the part called that runs from the intake manifold down through the wheel well area by the intake pipe for the turbo and I believe it connects to the stock mount intercooler. I wanna replace it because I think its the "upper intercooler piping" because the "lower intercooler piping" I was...
Would you really wanna use soapy water for clean that? Why not throttle body cleaner with my sock i use to get it off? Its worked great before when cleaning my 3g eclipses tb.
I was just gonna pop of the elbow (8) and just clean it with some cleaner and use a sock to get all the junk off with cleaner sprayed on it.Well i figured out one leak was the line from the intake manifold to the bov wasn't plugged in so that fixed that. I don't think there's any more leaks...
Very helpful with adding a diagram +1. So if i did pull it apart would i have replace the gasket (9) if im just popping off (8) to clean the throttle body (10)? (2.0l Turbo)
I was going to go clean the throttle body the other day when I noticed that there was an elbow attached the it. Is there a gasket between the tb and the intake elbow? I was also curious if i should put pb blaster on the bolts because it looks as if no one has ever tried to clean it in 20 years...
I haven't gotten around to it yet because i need to fix i believe the cv axal and then wheel bearings and a tie rod first so my front left tire does snap flopped off LOL
I will look into get gauges to watch everything properly but right now im in the middle of trying to fix mechanical things so my wheel doesn't go flying and my flywheel isnt exposed lol
Rust is a pain in the rear end. Ive broken so many bolt heads off or just wasn't able to get something off just because it was rusty. Or you know when it just rusts something out, that's always fun to.
I just realized the line from the intake manifold to the bov wasnt plugged in but after i plugged it in i feel like i got my boost back from it not leaking but at the same time the oil pressure gauge sits below that first line above the low line and most of the time its below that line. Is that...
I should probably take care of that to if im reinforcing my strut towers. The past owners patched the top which is solid but the didnt weld in the wheel well so I dont wanna put a lot of money into it if my struts gonna punch through.
Yeah everyone I talked to was like yeah no. And yeah I do i've worked on both of my cars for awhile now. It's just that there is a couple things I dont like to touch and the tie rod and wheel bearings is one of them. I would do it if my dad helped me but anyways. And money is not an issue due to...
The shop that fixed my leak quoted it at $1400 and that was without doing the flywheel.I'm gonna take it to a different shop that only works on that kind of thing so the price should be a few hundred with it all said and done.
It went good but I haven't fixed much yet. I got the oil leak fixed. That was just leaky gaskets on the return line. Bad the bad news is i probably need a tie rod and two wheel bearings and maybe more not sure though. They also discovered that the reason its making all the noise is because i...
I just requested to join. Hopefully i can find some people by me because i want someone to look over my car because i dont know what to look for because i got it a couple weeks or so ago.
Well I brought my car for someone to look at and they say the top plates there owner before welded on are solid but once you look under neath you can see the old strut tower metal. He is probably gonna remove it and weld some plates underneath as well to reinforce it and put some under coating...
So I took my car to the shop and he said said it flexes where the upper control arm is mounted to and that he was concerned about fixing that before we continue. Rust have been repaired in the past on the upper part of the strut towers but on the underside when they did it i guess they forgot...
Which I believe on the stock tune with the 16g turbo the guy i bought it from just installed should be running around 12-13ish im assuming so that would work. Is it recirculated and would work with an Injen intake im wanting to get after my cars out of the shop?
Well it looks like they could probably cut those spots out and weld on a steel plate (I would suggest steel) and then have them paint it. Also are you working on your head or something because I can see your pistons in the block lol.
That looks pretty bad. But when I bought mine they must of had the same problem because they cut out the rust and welded on pieces of steel and painted it. It's holding together still for me but just gotta keep an eye on it and make sure they're clean.
I will keep that in mind with asking "Why?". I've realized that if you ask why about things you do end up with a better car because it can make more sense and you could avoid causing damage or more issues if you know why something does what or why. And I was going to get an Injen intake once I...
Yeah shes an auto. I suggest getting one because I rather not have to deal with certain situations with a stick. Plus another benefit is that you can hold hands with your special someone lol. But besides that me and my dad replaces my front pads and got about 99% of the squeaking to stop. The...
