Absolutely, we've made them before and you are spot on about the alternator being moved to give a direct shot out the bumperPricing for 3" would be the same as the O2 eliminator style, $549, and 3.5" (shown in photos) would be +$100. For a 1g there is usually just enough room to route 3.5"...
As far as we are aware, the Pulsar xxxxG is essentially a Garrett copy so *should* share the same inlet (and outlet) flange as a Garrett
3.00" OD, ~2.375" groove/lip, ~2.125" ID
Vibrant 1390 should fit, and likely closer in size for the flange inlet than the Pulsar flange meant for 2.5" tube it...
Flanges ordered!
3-4 week lead time for them to be cut, so orders won't be able to be started until then.Officially added to the website: http://morrisonfabrications.com/product/mhi-external-o2/ for anyone looking to get an order in ahead of time
We offer an O2 housing specifically for the FP30 housing to go to the factory 2 bolt downpipe flange http://morrisonfabrications.com/product/dsm-fp30-o2-housing/ but it's not feasible to recirculate unfortunately. I mean you could, but there isn't room for a flex bellow just after the wastegate...
Would DSM and any Evo1-3 folks be interested in us offering MHI/FP bolt-on EWG O2 housings? Some nice features here-Tightly executed true 2.5" bend
-Exact wastegate placement we've found to clear any configuration (dipstick, 2g/Evo alternator stud, factory Evo radiators, etc)
-Can also be...
The Mitsu oil filter housings tend to offset any room that would otherwise be saved without the sandwich cooler, which is unfortunate, so it likely has the filter in the same spot but we haven't had the Evo 3 housing in our hands to say for sure. That's a good point about UHF Xona Rotor groups...
Most 4g63 folks sway towards the larger side of the lineup, but the more modestly sized turbos are really interesting. All the maps exceed their flow ratings by a good amount across the board, with each one actually flowing like the next size up.
Hoping to see more people explore the smaller...
We've had folks asking about total package pricing and thought it'd be good to share:Like many of the Xona products, the hot parts/turbo are -$200 off if the turbo is purchased with it, and we include the $240 IWG components (MVI/bracket/linkage/hardware) as well.
So the complete package...
Can't believe we didn't see this build thread sooner! Giving some old school magazine vibes with the great story behind everything and fantastic photos. Was great meeting you and letting us be a part of your build!
We've seen some for Audi and VW but not sure of any other instance of an IWG Xona in a DSM. The housing itself is identical as far as the actual volute/scroll is concerned, which have really shined in the smaller A/R housings particularly on our application. Someone who has been doing a lot of...
Being able to fit a TiAL Sport/Xona Rotor internally wastegated (IWG) turbo in nearly every DSM/Evo1-3/GVR4/CSM engine bay was exciting, but to also have an IWG setup without needing to relocate the alternator or oil filter has us pretty thrilled. We've had our eye on their IWG housing for a...
Back to the original post-
The first results were lackluster, but hoping @perrytheplatypus157 gets a chance to share some of the more recent findings with 6466 vs the 9569S paired in the TiAL v-band housing- specifically the .63AR.
The UHF/Xona really seem to shine in the TiAL housings, and...
The SPAL fan part number is 30101504. Nice quality fan with a good balance for dimensions/flow rating.Often one of the main constraints for fitment on a 1g (IMO) comes down to the distance between the front engine roll stop and the radiator/fan. There is only so much room between the two for...
Ooold thread but seems like it's hard to find an exact answer anywhere so for anyone searching-The amount of front/back engine tilt is different between 1g and 2gs. A 1g is roughly ~8deg forward tilt and a 2g is ~10deg, and since the O2 housing outlets/angles are the same between them, the...
Well, got the Haltech Nexus R3 and IC-7 dash. Been ehhh about wanting to do anything extra awesome until there are some failsafes in place and a way to acquire *all* the data.
Not looking forward to tearing it apart again but hey, that’s how it all goes! And it’ll be rad to have the wiring...
Having the car at the shootout was amazing. We finally got it all finished finished Wednesday around 11pm and we left Thursday at 6am. We were running into some wiring issues and ended up stealing some parts off the green car so we could just get it there. Was really considering just pushing it...
Stickers were gone within HOURS. SOOOOO many people came over and asked about what tuners is (and i was like WHAT LET'S TALK C'MON HI) and so many folks wanting to represent the forum that they called the "best resource." it was great :) also heard the announcement several times which was super...
Didn’t get any videos but here are some photos after the first drive!
Ran into some problems with the alternator but luckily we have an entire fleet here of cars we could steal from (sigh, LOLol) and all is well! Car drives INCREDIBLE. So smooth and easy. Dialing it in tomorrow and man, I’m so...
Well, the best update I have is that it runs!! Started up with zero issues and it was as though it had been running for years. Matt and I both looked at each other and said no car we’ve ever put together, been a part of, or been there for their first start has ever started as well as this did...
I can for sure help with that for next year!! I talk to Mike a whole bunch and I’ll see what I can do!
I can also talk to Matt about bringing up the forum in our tech talk and I will definitely be telling everyone about how this forum helped me get this car running and without it there’d be no...
Also- if there’s any group of people who could appreciate how rad this is, it’s you guys.
Got it two decades ago (sigh) for my first talon and have put it on all my favorites ever since :)
I keep trying to come up with a response that encompasses all the feelings your post left me with.I can’t.It’s been days and I just can’t.
Those incredibly kind words from someone I admire, look up to, and appreciate fiercely… idk. Ain’t nothin’ I’ve been trying to write good enough.
Thank...
Hey, it’s Annika. My personal successes with these cars is 100% because this forum and the members on it. Without people spending hours that added up to months and probably years sharing their knowledge and tidbits of advice along the way, there’s no way I would’ve gotten anywhere or done...
It was super important to me to use the same intercooler I had on Prototype. Ron made it back in the day and I love it so so so much. The problem we were running into is that it’s also super important to me to use the LPS alphalocs (because come on, they’re super rad). Getting everything to fit...
Hope everything is ok!! crossing fingers for next year. Matt and I were talking about you recently, and i said that this forum and all the members who have taken their time to share their knowledge+experiences are the ONLY reason I ever had success with getting any of my cars running and doing...
I just want to quickly say that I used this advice when painting my interior plastics and ho.lee. bananas is it solid. It took a lot of time (mostly obsessively checking this thread to be sure I was following the instructions perfectly) but the pieces are FLAWLESS. Like they look incredible...
Made some progress recently :)Most exciting thing is the manifold and hot parts are done!!
Otherwise got the old harness out and new in, gauges in, radiator support done, and other things I can’t remember (or aren’t really worth bringing up, ha). Working on getting the intercooler mounted...
Our miscellaneous thoughts-
Agree to preferably keep the divider in there since it helps the exhaust turn into the turbine housing and a little less into other runners. The opening area itself isn't undersized at all for the flow, but a larger opening would seem to give more opportunity to...
We haven't done those back to back tests on the DSM stock replacement, no. It would be hard to justify building a manifold without that flow guide vane. The collector is offset/angled a good amount in order to allow a nice bend off the #2 port, and the guide vane provides a nice flow path that...
No “real” updates BUT I did finally make some decisions.
I finally decided which manifold I was going to go with and…
*drum roll*
The top mount is “the one” for my Vanna girl :)
Got it all cut and prepped, and just need to get it all welded up now (well- and time to do so, ha!).
Going to do...
Sorry for the late reply-Spleen8urLSX made a great point about v-band flange compatibility being specific to each brand vs the T4 flange footprint being shared across brands. We will eventually have a write up that dives into it more than we can at the moment, but for turbos that size, the...
321 with 347 filler definitely took some adapting to. It wasn't as different to weld as we initially expected years ago but definitely requires more attention. It doesn't seem to be as forgiving with any discoloration ahead of the weld puddle (if you did try to weld over any discoloration it...
Hey!
That's a great question and we wish we had a really awesome response; however, the only machines we've worked with were in school (Samantha) and they had decent ones to learn on or the one she bought back in 2015/2016 (a used Miller Syncrowave 200 which has been awesome for us and we are...
Proud to be a part of your build!Thank you!
Maybe but these cars, the people and community are very near and dear to us :)
We know the in's and out's of them pretty well and can apply that to the final product while still continuing to learn a lot from them every dayThank you for the...
Can honestly say we really enjoy every setup and appreciate the nuances of each. Simple T3 setups making 900whp+, modest turbo sizes that have a ton of area under the power curve, bolt on, v-band, all business, at the compressor limit, effortless power at lower boost, just what gets you the most...
Hey fellow members! We recently released a tech article about what a turbo manifold does and took part in a podcast with HP Academy that briefly went over some of it, too.We had been thinking about doing an Ask Us Anything (in relation to our work) and right now seems like the perfect time...
I was recently asked this question and completely botched the answer- making it seem like they do nothing. So now is a good time to share what we’ve learned so far.We have both a short answer and a long answer to this question. There are more factors and details involved but this aspect...
Thank you!
The first 3 photos in post #7 are a one off T3, but we do also make a T3 using a similar placement and layout as our T4 and vband which can fit a large range of chassis (with final fitment details varying in each case). No specific photos but all set up and figured out to make it...
