Thank you everyone who spent the time to look into my silly issue...I have decided to send the ECU to ECMTuning to hopefully fix the issue.
Looking forward to plugging this baby back in and getting back to drifting all over the mountains due to the incredible amount of snow up here near Grand...
Update:
Still having stalling issues-same symptoms as mentioned before....stalling out of the blue after going crazy lean-even after doing the following:
1. MPI tested in spec
2. Ran Seafoam through fuel-tank, throttle body, and cylinders-sucked out the carbon with wetvac.
3. Installed new BPR8ES...
Good afternoon and thank you for your post Crackerman...regarding the ECU here are a few detailed pics.
Regarding the Fuel pump...it is rewired, all connections checked and tightened, no corroded terminals.Quite stumped and hesitant to even drive my sweet VR4...need the AWD right now too with...
Good morning fellow DSM/VR4 enthusiasts!
I am in desperate need of far more intelligent Car-Gurus on this one!
In the past months I have had my ever-increasing joy of a 92 Galant VR4 completely stall out on me on four occasions.
The occurrences include the Wide-band sensor going super lean-more...
LOL Vegas that is why I enjoy your insight and humor...you coming to Colorado to help me build another motor then!!! :beatentodeath:It is so true...I am going to go for it all next year on the first testntune-obviously re-torquing my ARP's among other things and letting her go all out at 26...
Well after Vegas' troubleshooting and swapping out the silly bung in the compressor with an open one...I can not only control boost, but more importantly there is no boost spikes and it pulls like a beauty :hellyeah:! Love the boost...19 lbs is not enough though ;)Would love to still get...
Yep you were right good sir...but what the heck is this tiny pinhole in the bung for...a bleed pin? Can I just reinstall another open bung and use that as the boost source?
God knows we dont need any info on the last item you self-claim to be king of... OMG
But it would be nice to get some nice updates and/or videos of the track and street King Vegas
Awesome build...some day I will have my red TSI again, was not nearly as nice as yours though!
Keep up the...
Vegas you rock good sir! Wise-men think alike...Brett was saying the same thing via PM. He is right about going the DSMLINK 1g bcs control way-he made an extremely easy wiki...just felt the hallman I had laying around would do it nicely?
Still I wish I could figure out why the bung on the...
Good day to all of you wonderful enthusiasts :)
Well I am loving this beautiful ride more and more each day-see pic outside my office window of Snow the 1st day of October :p ...despite the nearly losing the motor due to the alternator bolt losing a nut and traveling dangerously near the...
Lol...I second Diambo and lived's post regarding looking good and the plate-trying to either have a lisp or a Elmer Fudd tone for the pronunciation of the plate :P
Well done, would love to see a video of a pull or two :hellyeah:
Great Work!
Loving the build and looking forward to seeing her roar :)
WRX and a VR4...which one do you prefer-driving, enjoyment, comfortability, etc?
Beautiful VR4 Brett! Magnificent work and looking forward to the dyno and 1/4 mile videos. Yeah I am sold on the fp3052-30lbs at 4k wow-due to your build ;p
Keep up the great work buddy!
WOW!!! Well done...love to see that video-incredible 60ft time :)
What was your peak timing at if I may ask?
Also any idea what your lb/min are?
Awesome job and looking forward to reading more about your incredible build!
Oh my word man...
I am so sorry, what a beautiful car. I hope and pray you can salvage it.
It sure sounds like you were extremely fortunate that all parties were able to walk away from the accident. Just not that beautiful VR4...I had my 91VR4 totaled because of a retard running a stop sign and...
My goodness....no wonder people fall in love with and don't want to leave Hawai :p need pics of that beauty .
I am running E85.
I will be playing with my peak timing and will try and safely get to 18 to 19 peak timing without increasing boost-hoping not to lift the head.
Regarding tire...
NICE!!!
Those are some impressive numbers, especially with a 14b...I take it that was in Hawaii at sea-level?
I agree whole-heatedly about not only the timing-was running only 15 degrees at the peak; but also seat-time.
Thank you for all of your encouragement. It's funny looking over my very...
Love it amsrn-I am learning from all the contributors regarding these amazing machines (even with their flaws).
Now we just need to see that red-beast in action down the quarter-mile :thumb:
Just wanted to thank everyone for keeping this post alive with the increase in applicable information for...
Gorgeous! What glorious work...aren't you supposed to be racing today :P
Hoping you have a video or two to post as well.
Good luck and keep up the great work!
Thank you Marty and everyone else for your aid in bringing these numbers down yourselves through the sharing of your esteemed knowledge regarding these awesome cars!
Cannot wait to share the 12 second pass in the next month or so :)
What tire pressure does everyone run on their stock tires for...
So true boostdawd...my buddy and I were laughing at my hilarious attempt to drive this beast (to my defense it was my first drag race in over a decade with a super silly pro-tree style light)-I try to emulate a certain someone so my yes is my yes and my no is my no :P
The night went 13.75; 14.9...
lol vegas...I guess a bigger turbo(j/k-reading alot about Holset 35's and 40's) :p
whats a good 60 on street tires- 1.7 ?
at 30 lbs of boost dropping it at 5k seems like certain death for the trannie and axles :P
Thoughts?
Thank you
Here is the 13.75 pass as well...that was awesome running against a Z06 vette-lost by .3 seconds though
If I had any talent that run-a 2.4 60 and a 1.4 reaction time it would have been a far different storyhttps://vid.me/NM6P
Dont laugh everyone...
first drag race in nearly a decade with a pro-tree...whatever that is :P
DA was insane at nearly 8,000 altitude at Western Slope Drag-way in Clifton, CO.
Fastest time was 13.51 against a tuned Golf-R-Auto on 116 racegas (he ran a 12.86).
Felt like I had a lot more power on...
Brett...you rock good sir, thank you for your patience and willingness to aid through 3 different configurations on my behalf. I am so thankful for all of you wise men and tuners alike.
I have learned so much from all of you in the last 3 months and honestly the VR4 runs amazing at just a...
Sorry misunderstood, brilliant though with the hks head gasket what boost are you running at only 6degrees peak? Any chance of that video :)
You not only had the indecency of picking up not only one new head but two . Just kidding, at your boosts levels that is quite wise. Loving the build
Boy do I second that, although the men in black usually have flashing lights and are threatening to tow the car for speeding :argue:...with full 3" exhaust without the catalytic-converter it is a night and day difference and sounds amazing. By chance can you post an in-car video like before, in...
Thats pretty impressive amsrn...great work! I would love to attempt the following with my VR4's peeling spoiler and the rock chips all over the front bumper.
As you stated-the most important part being prep work, with chips and dents would your following steps suffice-have a friend who swears...
Thank you again sir! I figured that would be the best route to blend the ve table...cannot wait to get this awesome car running fast and safe-gotta beat the wife's Coyote Mustang next week ;)
Thank you so much good sir for your insight...I noticed when trying to get wbfactor as close to 0 I was increasing the global-closer to 0. While thw wbfactor was getting closer my VE was starting to exceed 100.
Thank you for confirming the need to retard timing a bit prior to increasing boost...
After the single-spring mod-via EVO site...I have it buttoned down with no leaks till about 21 to 22 lbs and then it slowly leaks. On these pulls though it is buttoned up. With the boost at 20 lbs does it look okay as it sits now via the 5th log pull?

GST with Psi and Livdsm thank you once again for still tuning into my logs...here are two that I have played with a bit and have tried to find the sweet spot with little to no knock...still dont understand why I am getting 3 to 5-crazy 15 count of knock at .6 and 3500-4000 rpm cell?-counts of...
I am truly astonished with the consistency of thorough and esteemed knowledge you wonderful master-tuners are freely giving to a ricearonnie...newb like myself-need to start sending baked goods to everyone-make everyone slower with weight-gain :P
In all seriousness, thank you everyone...and...
Thank you all once again for your incredible knowledge and aid in tuning this amazing Galant VR4 :)
I have adjusted the TP to read 0% at a stand still and then after some driving it goes back up to 1%-???
Still trying to find that perfect + or 1 of 10 at 30 for the biss.
Have increased the...
3) GM MAF sensors are an ass pain. FWIW, this guy just went through some issues with his, and ended up ditching it...I'd consider doing the same to be honest: http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/maft-v2-vr4-tuning-first-attempt-help-please.511093/@COVR4355 can give you some honest feedback...
That's what I had thought too-isn't ones goal only to adjust biss for the isc? I know in Dr Turbo stuff it says to have the idle boxes on an sd tune to be in the range of 55-60?
Thank you
Here is another pull after adjusting the global fuel down by 4% and seems to have helped quite a bit...in using turbosaxes excel formula it shows I need to add 3 to 9 percent up top to be even on wbfactor....
Do you guys think my ISC motor might be an issue in stalling-Dave via DSMLINK believes...
Thank you boosted and livedsm...should I just go with the stock 2g dsm or the Evo1 modded timing map so I am in the lower timing range or should I just put 10-12's across the board in that boost range?
I am trying to utilize turbosaxes excel formula that you are talking about.
Will post back...
I will make sure to rich things up across the board and pull timing from the top of the pull...what do you think about the 3k knock-due to being too lean?
Also do you think my ISC is working correct-I will do the jafro method and ohm it out just to be safe.
Thank you everyone and will include a...
Exactly...thank you double for confirming that-119 sec's in WOT pull log. My question is should I attack the exact SDVE table that coincides with the leanness or should I try to adjust it with Global deadtime? Scott Lairds videos and a few other how to tune SD's focus on either one.
Also do you...
Vegas Smith I cannot thank you enough for this insightful post...amazing how it has already answered numerous questions I have had with just an hour and a half tuning session I just had playing with my new SD setup-I especially needed 34-36.Thank you
Just did this today myself OP...just follow the guide from ECMTuning-ECUinputs have to be correct via sensor and since you have plug and play adapter: "
Using our SD plug-n-play Cable
If you're using our SD plug-n-play cable with our IAT and 4-bar MAP sensors, then the IAT sensor will be...
Well I feel like a born-again believer who had their demons cast-out- :p That incredible volatile MAFT I had was killing me…so with the counsel of the DSM gurus I decided to go Speed Density and boy is it so much better already-only have spent an hour so far and the car runs incredibly...
Thank you everyone for responding...wanting to pull out my hair was this silly thing :p Well today's joy was rechecking boost leaks-blow-off valve starts to leak at 20 lbs, but anything below that is golden, have the car set to 12 lbs as of now.
Took out the GM MAF inspected and...
