Finally found some will to repair the car last week and took it out this weekend for the first time in half a year.
I think I needed that break because I can't think of last time when I enjoyed it this much.
Took some photos of it during yesterday's sunset. Love how they turned out, iPhone15...
Yeah, it should be ok.
Will sit to it on the weekend.
To everyone reading this - I can also make files for Eagle Talon (I believe I have all the letters somewhere) and all 1G stickers. Preferably PM me photos with measurments and I will make them. I'll make a separate post for 1G if they will be...
I made these files after I resprayed my car. While I'm fairly confident that "GSX" and "Eclipse" logo are 1:1 both in size and dimensions, "Mitsubishi" one was a bit tricky to find. If anyone has it and can provide me measurments, I will update the design. I will also make "GS-T" and "Spyder"...
I wouldn't recommend deleting anything from stock harness.
What I would recommend (from my own experience) is to get rid of whole stock loom (both plastic and tape) and putting a new one, preferably material one (the one that is on fancy motorsport wiring harnesses) on. It's a very time...
Thanks, I know they're a bit controversial especially with all those new IG builds (not only DSM's but in general) going for them, but I think they tied in really great into this one, considering theme of the car and its monochromaticness.
I work as a graphic designer and made file myself (along with "Eclipse" for center piece), and friend cut them out for me.
I will work sth out in terms of online storage and will upload files there so that everyone can make their own locally. They might not be 1:1, but they're close enough to...
Anyone would be able to help me with this since I'm in Europe? Our dealers won't be able to figure this out, and calling a US number would cost me some big penny lol
Going with anything bigger than 16G is a pretty big hassle in Europe. Even in US (where availability of parts isn't a concern most of the time) going bigger requires quite a lot of upgrades over stock car, and in Europe parts availability, knowledge and prices are often a "deal brakers" when it...
It's been a while since i posted an update, but tbh the car has tired me out this year.
DIN3 meter upgrade has been great. I love how it looks and works, it's a unique part that match style of the car well Imo.
I also installed new slim fans (taken from european Ford Mondeo diesel, this is...
New parts came in yesterday.
Decided to ditch my A'PEXi EL gauges setup. Bought them used without sensors and harnesses, and it turned out that only oil pressure worked.
Had my eye on A'PEXi DIN3 Meter to match my AVC-R and decided to pull the trigger. Things like this are not everyone's cup of...
I was about to say that I'm wondering if installing such a big wing to tailgate won't make the the surface of it a flex point since it's not super stiff from factory.
Nonetheless it's cool to see more and more road race builds like this.
Time for a long needed update.
I got my fenders cut and rolled, now the fitment is super tight but it doesn't rub. Also lowered front a bit more.
CF hood has been resprayed with fresh clear coat, and whilst still not perfect it's good enough for my liking.
Got myself some new ebay headlights...
This is some sweet fabrication, whole thread is a pure weld porn lol
Absolutely love everything he made.
Considering you're going with anodized blue on some parts, I'd go with everything polished and clear coated. Scratches wouldn't be visible as much because there would be visible aluminum...
A bit later, but finally mounted all 4 tires and adjusted ride height.
Fitment is absolutely perfect, super flush, nothing pokes out. I believe this to be the best fitment for stock body 2G.
Unfortunately I have some fender rolling ahead of me, but my body shop will take care of it in January...
Yessir, @jacob_dsm.I got to test fit two LE's with tires and new suspension settings and I'm beyond happy with the result - they sit perfectly flush with the fender at the height I wanted. I was a bit worried about fitment since they're 18x8.5 +30 square, but with Federal 595 RS-Pro in 225/40...
It't TE tuesday so I test fitted my new set of wheels. I've ditched Volk GT-C’s for Volk LE37T’s (limited edition TE37 OG) and I couldn’t be more happy. They go stupid hard in person. Can’t wait to put the tires on. I've seen couple 2G's from back in the day running this wheel, production date...
Time for an update lol
I haven't got a chance to drive the car much this year. I was chasing some issues with clutch, idle and some oil leaks. Car is still not on the final tune, but I love it. Purchased some more parts that I'm waiting for - carbon fiber OEM style hood and Volk Rays LE37T's...
Thanks! Some European countries don't allow custom plates at all, and some have some limitations to it - f.e. first letter on mine had to be D (it indicates region) and then digit from 0 to 9, and then there are only 5 characters left for your imagination.
I wish we had regional graphic plates...
Haha nah man, I think I'm good with a stock high rise lol
If you have that radiator hose from the photo and would ever want to part your ways with it lmk, I really like it.
Also, would you mind sharing a part # for AP Racing calipers?
I also believe we talked on instagram as I was amazed by...
Can't wait to see the progresss on this build. I love the whole story.
If you'd have some old school parts for sale, lmk since I might be interested lol
This car is so perfect.
As stated above, 23k seems to be the right price for that kind of car.
I'm glad we're seeing good examples goind up with the price.
Always something after 2 year building period.
Car sat with clutch assembly completely disassembled during most of that time and some parts must have corroded on the inside as well as some dirt, because clutch fluid turned almost black. We need to flush the whole system because after adjustment...
Thought that I'll post an update.
After break in period (~600 miles) during final oil change we noticed some metallic flakes and decided to drop the oil pan and check bearings. It turned out that all of them were scratched by something. We decided to tear engine apart, clean everything again...
Thanks for the kind words guys!
Below are two more photos from the event that my friend made. Can't wait to tune the car and see what it will put out on the dyno. We'll be tuning on Ceddy with SD and A'PEXi AVC-R.
+38 square
Car is really low (little less than 1 finger gap between rear tire and arches. It’s on BC coilovers with camber kit and it rubs sometimes. Will have to roll fenders, especially I want to put spacers to achieve flush fitment.
Almost 2 years. This is how much time it took to build this car the way I want. Past weekend I participated in biggest JDM/japanese car show in Europe - @japfest.pl . Car has won TOP 3 Performance Freaks award (because of amount of real, period correct parts and attention to details), and was...
Great to see this car back!
I was looking through your photos from time to time since both car and scenery looks incredible. Show us more photos and info on progress while reviving it!
So I finally decided to post sth about my build.
Backstory first.
Me and my dad bought this car in March 2017 after selling our first dsm, rust bucket 97 GST. We were looking for a turbo Eclipse/Talon for like 6 or so months as turbo DSM's are very common here in Europe and they're super...
