Has anyone monitored rear diff temps on our cars?I was just curious what temp range I could expect it to get into. I know oil breakdown happens faster higher temps. For reference I'm wondering about a 1g LSD 3 bolt rear, but I imagine there's probably not a huge difference for average temps.
Was doing maintenance to 2g's and 1 g's lately and noticed something I think is easily overlooked and can cause catastrophic failure.1. The baffle welds? on stock valve covers can break off leaving a small chunk of metal to go blasting into your head and end up god knows where likely...
Sometimes I get weird ideasIf you've seen a rotary sparkplug it's made wildly different from a standard spark plug. It's made flat so it can run close to the apex seal without it chopping the electrode off.Couple points:1. Harder to blow out spark even under high boost.2. The sparkplug...
I decid3d what the hell I have bad carbon deposits on my 2g pistons and by now likely valves too, I did a head about two years ago and noticed pretty bad deposits on the pistons. This winter I was forced to drive the 2g as a daily and due to other car issues it is currently a dd again. It...
I tried and broke a oil dipstick heater so you don't have to!there are quite a few options for block heaters, in my opinion freeze plug install options are the best, but feeling cheap and cold in the inland northwest I decided to try other easy cheap options.
Types: dipstick, freeze plug...
I just pulled the end plate on my 2g manual transmission because something has been rattling weird in there.the synchro on the end of the upper gear set just fell out.. ?is this synchro supposed to be attached or does it float on the spring in the end plate only...
Koni yellow kit installed, eibach lowering springs, camber kit, new riken raptor tires and now I'm getting a tire bounce on the front end while driving over 30mph. I haven't driven the car much recently but I took it out the other day and it's got a terrible front end bounce once speed is up...
If your having thermostat issues (I feel bad for you son I got 99 problems, but temps ain't one.)
or over heating due to thermostat issues (like I was) I am adding another option for thermostat application.Firstly after some research I would recommend using an OEM Mitsubishi thermostat because...
I picked up a 14b 49178- 01010 - 12fin compressor side with what looks like an evo3 exhaust side 6cm housing. No in and out play, little side to side but Ive since read that is normal for these turbos.I'm not in a rush to bolt this thing on and see what it can do, I do eventually want to give...
I thought I would share this gem of knowledge I picked up today looking for lower control arms at autozone. First they offer lifetime warranty lower control arms NICE!
Second, you should be aware of something. The duralast lower control arms PN's:
FA4077, FA4078Come from either japan or...
So that's something I was thinking about just kinda random thought. Could you get a super thick head gasket or cut a custom piece of metal and lift the head lowering compression ratio obviously (but for insane boost guys might be a good idea)How far would you have to lift it? I realize its...
PSA do not use a non oem or racing application thermostat in a 4g63As the title States steer clear of your local (parts store) for a thermostat if you care about your engine.I thought replacing my thermostat with a new one from a local parts store was a good idea at the time (gasket was...
So I just popped my factory 100k plus mile partly separated? Pulley off, popped my fluidamper pulley on.First fire up I notice less engine noise.. That's weird, probably good.First Drive I notice my lug spot is less noticeable by 50% at least. What I mean is when you hit lug rpm in my...
Would like some input on this, how you feel about this AND where this post should be. My coolant cap was not holding pressure properly I played with seeing how well the hoses once the engine was hot were holding or not holding pressure.Turns out my engine running hot may have had less to do...
2nd gen factory driver seat, electrical seatI noticed the seat was shifting around in turns / acceleration first thing I did was tighten the bolts that hold the seats into the car which made an improvement now the seats still move around a bit though and the passenger is manual while the...
