Thanks for all the help guys, sorry for not getting back to you before. Got the flywheeel pulled out last night, am waiting for it to be resurfaced now! I did leave the hubs connected to the ball joints, and worked around them to remove the axles. Ill upload a pic when i get back to the shop...
Alright, i finally got that that sucker to break free! I lowered the exhaust and the driveline, pretty sure im ready to take apart the T case, etc. One thing tho, do i have to have both cv axles removed form the vehicle to swap the clutch? Because i only have the passenger side axel removed..
Good afternoon gents. The last two days ive been attempting to replace my clutch, on my own (no mechanical expertise). Im at the stage of trying to remove the exhaust , so that i am able to remove the driveline, etc. So currently, ive been using nut buster, a torch, and airgun to get at the two...
Thank you Dhan for your time chiming in. I appreciate you describing your clutch set up to me, that is very informative! I'll give twicks69 a shout and will peruse the link you shared. Thank you!
Hello Mello, thanks for joining in. I'm confused when you say that those are non turbo clutches when it says it is for a turbo vehicle. The bottom of the webpage for the 2 stage daily mentions that it is for a turbo.

Thank you Vegas! I must also ask if the TOB for the kit would be up to par, or should I always no matter what stick with getting an OEM TOB for any clutch? I am prepared to order one, no biggie on that.
Hey guys, after looking around at different clutches, I found this South bend clutch that i feel would work well with my stock car, and my budget. Does anyone have opinions on the stage 2 daily? http://www.southbendclutch.com/listings.cfmAnd I was also wondering if it would be overkill to put...
Thank you, yes it is my daily driver and will be for quite awhile so if that is a factor I hadn't considered to mention. If not a "puck" style, what other options are there for me?
So I take it that a clutch kit would not include a replacement fork/pivot ball or flywheel ?
And that means I...
Thank you all for the quick replies! This is going to be the biggest project ive done on the car. Can anyone explain what the difference between "4 puck and 6 puck"? Or the different types of clutches, for example: sport performance and heavy duty. I should add that I'm on a budget and...
Hi, I need a replacement clutch kit, for a stock 1G that I would like to eventually mod. My time on the internet is limited, so I cannot do a thorough search myself, although I have and have come up kinda empty handed. Any help is appreciated, thank you!
f*** my life. Damn the snow. Can anyone chime in with their 2 cents? It looks replaceable, but I've never had to deal with body damage, so my opinion is moot. Would like to fix this before rust shows up
Having fixed the CV axle, the list of problems gets smaller; 1) I need to take care of my rear driver caliper. I hope this solves my brake leak. 2) I have two oil leaks from what I can tell. One of them is the turbo oil return line flange. I have the gaskets and copper crush rings to get it...
Thanks Sjd, I appreciate that. You know, I didn't even consider interior pics lol. I will take some in the daytime tomorrow. I'd say the interior is an 9/10, just little things here and there that could be replaced.
Next on my to do list: F driver CV axle swap. fix the turbo oil pan line leak. rear brake, rotor, and maybe caliper replacement in an effort to fix a break leak, could also be the E-brake booster.
This last weekend, my friend, Nick and myself, swapped out my exhaust manifold. It was not the stock 1g, from what I can tell, it is a pacesetter manifold. It looked like it had been repaired before, but it wasn't long after I got ahold of the car that it cracked. We had a replacement ported 2g...
More recently I've replaced the master and slave cylinders, they went out two days after i noticed an issue. I've also done the alternator and power steering belts. The alternator belt snapped on the freeway, and ruptured a coolant hose...
So I got the car, stock, with a new timing belt in it, newer Toyo Proxes tires, an K&N air filter, and it's been lowered slighlty (too low for me). So far I've replaced various old hoses that have given out to time, mostly radiator, but even the gas filler hose started leaking while I was at...
Before owning this car, I've never done any kind of mechanic/maintenance work, other than an oil change here and there. This website has been my saving grace in keeping my daily driver running and I am thankful to all for the help they've given. That being said, some background on the car; it...
It almost sounded like "the batteries were dying" for the door open beep. All distorted and squelching like. I could also hear the whine of the engine thru my speakers. But when I got in to go to work this am, it was fine and has been all day.As far as aftermarket equipment, just a JVC deck...
Dude, my bad, I dunno why I said seatbelt, when I meant the door open beep. It was distorted so weirdly. I thought the CD player as well, so turned it off and removed faceplate, car was still freaking out. However, since I've driven it this morning, it's not been doing it anymore...
It's got me...
Hey, so I just got in my car to drive home from work, and I can hear the seatbelt ding over my car speakers and I hear the same noise while I'm driving, with acceleration. It's never done this before, I hope its not an electrical issue popping up?
Yes, I have to pull it to raise it all the way. So I need a new clutch pedal assembly? Would you suggest I figure out my transmission issues (overhaul/replacement) before replacing the assembly?
Thank you for linking that. Yes I watched most of it last night before messing with the clutch. I need to do it properly with two people, couldn't get it on my own. That's when I noticed the switch h at the top of the clutch
Hey dudes! So the newest issue I'm trying to tackle is my clutch adjustment. I went out last night to fiddle around and couldn't really get it figured, I will try again with another person to correctly do it before I give in and look for a new transmission. That being said, I noticed today that...
Hey guys . I finally had some time to work on the Talon. Got that hose replaced and I got 2 belts swapped out. Car is running great ! I appreciate everyone's input on the matter, the car is running because of you all, thank you.
I will adjust clutch before anything else, I did change the master and slave two weekend ago, shifts better but I have not been able to adjust it yet...
I agree with Pauley about fixing the trans vs replacing it. My uncle has mechanic experience, and would be the one tohelp me do the work, he...
Nailed it , Eclipse. My alternator belt is gone. I do not believe the belt was as old as the car, does anyone have a theory as to why it shredded if that were the case?
2 months ago, I replaced my 1G stock alt. with a galant vr4 alt. from AutoZone, lifetime warranty. All I had to do was jack the car up to get at it from underneath, but it went in and out without having to remove anything else!
I am not, i did drive it after replacing that hose but parked it again after it started to overheat. I'm borrowing my uncle's Ram-Charger until it's done. Thank you Pauley.
Thank you Vegas ,I realize my post probably sounded better in my head. I guess I'm asking if it'd be cheaper/easier to rebuild or try and hunt one down. My uncle's opinion is to just replace the whole thing as opposed to rebuild.Boostdawd, is $500 a fair asking price or would you try and find...
Thank you for your input asexton and boostdawd! I got the problem hose replaced, and I intend to replace the thermostat this weekEnd. When I went to drive the car, I noticed there wasn't power steering and the car temp started to get above normal (could be air bubbles, will bleed it tomorrow)...
Hey everyone, here is my dilemma; I believe the synchro rings are going out in the transmission, I rarely can downshift into 2nd without grinding unless at low rpms, and since I've owned the car (6+ months) I've not been able to downshift into first without grinding, at all. My uncle said it's...
Wow I am blown away by how helpful everyone is on this site! Thank you for the link. May I ask what you mean by service the cooling system? I was not able to get the car on a jack tonight, would going from underneath mean I have to remove anything in the way to replace that?I notice that the...
Thank you so much for a very thorough response! Yes the car runs and drives, (for the most part) and is stock with the exception of it being lowered a bit. My goal at the moment is to Replace parts as opposed to Upgrade parts, if that makes sense. Between this awesome forum, and a Chilton, I am...
Can anyone please confirm that this is a coolant line to the oil filter housing? And if it is, may I ask for the specific type of hose I need? I believe I read it needs to be braided, but how big is it? Additionally, it is secured at the top of the hose with a clamp that needs pliers to remove...
