well im glad to hear we didnt lose another member.on another note though, how sweet is that JMF fuel cell? thats on my list of things to get here soon.
i find myself reading back through this whole thread every time i see it updated. cant wait to see what you decide as far as keeping the Holset or going with a 4 series BW
It's a turbine housing so it should be fine. Might need some gasket matching and port work but other than that I wouldn't be too scared for that price.
500? Shiiiid. I'm getting readings of over 9000... Hope someone gets that reference lolOn a serious note though, I don't see this thing making any serious jam. Looks like your typical trailor park boy setup that beat it's first honda and is claiming 500hp suddenly. Don't let this chump get...
Should welcome me to this thread and enlighten me if there are any special rules for this thread such as sharing links or memes in responses. It's about to get lit in here gentlemen.
Just read through this whole thread. Great work! I love the old datsuns. Who cares what your welds look like if they work and you're satisfied with them. I'd love to be able to even weld on your level. :thumb:
Looking better already. I picked up my '91 two weeks after last years shootout for $800 and was told a big bunch of lies on why all the good stuff that was on the car had been taken off and why it was being sold so cheap.I think your goal of a 10s car for $10k isn't far fetched at all. As...
Anyone have updated contact information for RedJack? I did a quick search and found his profile on here and their Facebook but neither have recent activity in the last year.
You may want to re-read my OP. You're being "that guy" who can't read and give informative input lol. None taken though. It's all good brother. I agree with what you're saying. I posted this late at night and wasn't very clear so I apologize. Price is not directly the problem. It is indirectly...
Probably a long shot, but I'll still try. There's a lot of great welders in here and I'm wondering if anyone could make a twin scroll for my hx35 1g setup. I'm not trying to be "that guy" but there's only one or two manifolds on the market that I'm finding and the prices are pretty steep. In now...
2.5 will be plenty for any stock mitsu turbos. There won't be any difference in performance from 3 inch until you're making decent power and actually need that big of piping. Welcome to the 1g team :rocks:
I've also had good experience with rock autos customer service. My daily (jeep) is currently doing the same exact thing right now but I've been too lazy to even fool with them bc I'm working overtime a lot for dsm funds lol. Hope rock auto gets you a good motor this time.
Just read through all nine pages and I'm more envious of your tool setup and machines setup than I am you car lol. A man like myself could only dream of even having access to the setup you have going on. Your craftsmanship is astounding my friend :thumb:
I agree with the statements above. If you're set on trying to use it though and it will seal I believe it can be used for lower boost. I personally would stick with the evoIII manifold.
I'm actually saving for a forward facing jmfab manifold currently lol. Trying to save some money on the upcoming wedding to afford it lol. But back on topic, I think the manifold could hold up for a bit on a mild boost application. I've seen some people use even the beer can manifolds for...
Yeah id say that's gonna be more of a hassle than a "fleabay," lol, manifold is gonna be worth dealing with. If you decide to try it though I'd beef it up and go over the welds again to ensure it's durability atleast. I myself wouldn't trust it for much other than idle time.
Looks like a great piece. I'm yet to be disappointed by what I've seen come from Justin. I've been keeping my eyes on the classifieds to pick up an hx40 so I can also do some business with him. Can't wait for the next update :thumb:
This is the coolest thing I've seen in my life lol. But quick question. When you say "they", who exactly are you referring to? I may have missed it somewhere.
I understand the whole "it's not in my budget" thing, but I personally don't accept that as an excuse for anyone. Anything can be in your budget if you take your time and save for those quality parts. My car has sat for three months now due to buying an engagement ring, a house, and trying to...
This is very true, but for his application and the fact he doesn't want to rev past 8k he could sell the 280s and pick up some nice used 272s that would fit his needs better and probably pocket some left over money for other things. I'm not against what you said at all though bc you're right...
If you're not wanting to rev past 8k I'd def say pick up a nice set of 272s. My build is for the same purposes but probably a little more strip time and I'm going with kelford 272s or gsc s2s. These won't do heck of a lot better on the spool but definitely a good difference and a lot better mid...
Hopefully some of these guys will shed some info for us. I've heard a lot about them but don't know what type of setups they're running. I'm currently looking for an hx40 for a good deal but can't find one atm.
Been doing some other research in the turbo tech section and came across some of your discussions. One that REALLY sparked my interest was about holsets and Daves hx40. I've always been a big fan of these turbos since I got into dsm's but hadn't seen anyone putting down such incredible times as...
Thanks for the response! I see they claim a potential 800hp flow rate on the one you recommended. Definitely strikes my interest. Curious as to how it's flow characteristics with a .82 a/r housing would be in higher rpms in comparison to a gt3582r
Been waiting to post here for a couple weeks while being a probationary member. But anyways, what's up justin! I'm curious as to what you think about the PTE6266 CEA journal bearing turbo. Any info on it from you would be greatly appreciated :hellyeah...
Looks like you have a good setup going. There's a lot of different bearings out there that are tried and true. I personally chose tri-metal bearings for my build. If you're looking to get machining done as well I'd message Jackson and see what kind of bundle they could whip up for you.
Glad to see you haven't used heat. It's a bad idea. I know you said you've used a sledgehammer already in attempt to break it loose, but what exactly did you do? A good sledgehammer method is to jack the car up, place one lug nut on the wheel and rotate it to the top, get under get under the car...
Good choice going with link. If the car is seeing the track it would be a great idea to do some suspension work. I know it's gonna be on the street more than the strip, but spinning ain't winning lol. Suspension and tire setup goes a very long way on the street.
This is the best battery you will buy. Hands down. Tried and true and can be completely drained and recharged. My good friend has used his for 8 years and lets it completely die every winter while the car sits and it fires the car right back up after a charge. It is also under $200 and will give...
Another member was having this same problem and was fixed today by replacing his shift cables. I'll link you the thread so you can possibly gather some info for yourself.http://www.dsmtuners.com/threads/bad-alternator-and-shift-problems.498603/#post-153556290
Never done any painting but I have definitely seen some cars that I was really confused as to what the owner was going for. Just remember your plan. Something subtle/conservative. After laying a few that look nice don't get carried away and end up with more than you wanted lol. I've seen some...
You can always check your lifters to make sure none are stuck. If so they can hold the valves open a bit and show low compression. I doubt this though, so I will second gobblin and recommend doing a leak down test.
