2G Driver's CV axle coming off of intermediate shaft

Thanks, it helped to verify that the 22" shaft is correct length. I did finally figure out what was wrong. The plug on the inside of the inner tripoid joint was out of position. It was too far out which was stopping the joint from sliding all the way over the retaining ring. When you...

2G Driver's CV axle coming off of intermediate shaft

Had the car for about six years. Almost everything was rebuilt replace the first two years. Car makes over 400 hp and 380 ftlbs on the dyno.Transfer case was not rebuilt during the initial rebuild and started making noise. Pulled transfer case out and rebuilt it, at that time the...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

UPDATE:No one ever commented on my data log after numerous requests for me to post one.Took the car out of storage and took it to a different, well known shop that is local and had them verify. It is NOT the clutch slipping. It is the BOV leaking which reduced engine power when it started...

GST here is a log I did this morning. Had to wait for the car to warm up. It is 20 degrees outside. This is my first time posting a log. Let me know if I did it wrong or if it doesn't display. All feeback on the log appreciated.

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

LOL, wouldn't that be nice! Or maybe it was the, "this is horrible, I'm outta here" kind of bad. :)I built the car shooting for 400 flywheel hp figuring that was about as far as I could go and keep my wife happy with the street manners and reliability. It looks like I'm on track for that...

"Lastly, make sure you're present for the dyno session next time. Like you said, hindsight is 20/20, so hopefully you're realizing at this point that all this guess work is something that can be avoided in the future. Regardless of the shop or their reputation, nobody gives a sh** about your car...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

My "demeanor" is fine. If you can't take it, don't dish it out. Period.I asked very specific questions that nobody really has an answer for. And that's fine. But something that was brought up was to data log my tune and report back. Which I said I would do. I'm concerned about the AFR...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

I'm not blaming anyone. I wish they had called me and I would have told them to run it again on the dyno at higher RPM. BUT, hindsight is always 20/20 and I understand what your saying. The gradients for the AFR are tough to figure out on the chart. The bottom of the chart states that AFR...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

I agree that's a good idea. I'll try and get one in the next few days. Besides RPM, MAF and Map and TPS what other things do you think would be relevant without too much data?

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

Oooh Boy, I love it when someone thinks their getting the spoon out! Now it gets fun.Your numbers above.1. It slipped at 3850 rpm. If your worried about destruction, that's where you stop. Not at 5k. But nice of you to decide what others are doing for them. 2. Why do another pull...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

They did not provide a log of the run and they did no tuning on the car. I did a boost leak test before I took it down and they did a boost leak test before they put it on the dyno. I did do a long pull up a hill before I loaded it on the trailer to bring it home and a couple of quick hard...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

That is a possibility, but how do we prove that? I don't make repairs based on guesses. Everything needs to line up and be understood before you can make the appropriate repairs. Otherwise its just guessing with possibly no results. I.e. how does a clutch slip at 3800 rpm at 20lbs boost and...

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

it slips at 20 lbs of boost but grabs at 24 lbs of boost.....? Rpm is engine RPM and not roller rpm. Did not hit rev limiter. If they let of the throttle that would be causation and not symptomatic.Besides not understanding how it's grabbing and climbing at 45 and 60 degree angles under 24...

    2G Would this stereo fit?

Double Din fits without any problem. Need to use the factory radio brackets to mount, there is no aftermarket kit for it because they all say that it won't fit. It will and does all the time. If you can't find the factory radio mounts then you will have to make your own.
  18. kjlinwi

    ECMlink Dyno tuning questions

I thought about that but 1) if the clutch started grabbing, why stop the dyno pull? 2) Why would you only do one pull? 3) How does a clutch slipping change afr (it got leaner at that time on graph) 4) Would Boost stay the same with a slipping clutch?

Took my wife's 97 eclipse in for an actual tune at a performance shop on a dyno for the first time. All previous tuning had been done by me as I figured out how to manipulate the ecmlink software.Tuning shop made one run one on the dyno and said that the clutch is slipping. Never had a...

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

Finally an intelligent life on here!!! Gsxeclipse102 Glad you exist LOL. To answer your comment, about the brake booster your correct, most cars do have a check valve in there, but its more so that the booster doesn't lose it's vacuum under boost conditions for a turbvo car and even a na car...

WOW, waffle much? This was posted earlier by someone else: " even with the wastegate tied fully open it'll still have flow past the turbine wheel allowing boost to build "Sounds exactly like what I said is wrong and exactly what you just said no one said. Now it's not building boost, but...

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

"As far as turning off the turbo in link, he's right. It doesn't work like that. You are limited to the minimum amount of pressure your wastegate spring is rated at. An MHI wastegate spring is 7-8PSI for a 14b/16g setup. You can turn the duty cycle to zero in link, you can loop the wastegate...

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

Shouldn't I see wetness at the center shaft of the turbine wheel? And since the exhaust valves feed the exhaust through the turbine wheel, how do I know that the oil isn't from the valve seals and the spinning of the turbine isn't throwing it to the outside edge of the cartridge/housing?

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

I'd agree, but it didn't smoke before the rebuild. Course I may just get frustrated enough to try it and see if it "heals itself" lolI just did a classic example of what sounds good is very different than what works.I pulled the O2 sensor housing as suggested by several to inspect and see...

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

Oh boy, start your own post, and post a video of your car building 20 psi in neutral. Then I'll post my video of my car revving with no boost on the boost gauge and I'll then video the boost gauge feed line to the intake so you can see its hooked up and I'll even video the settings for you...
  32. kjlinwi

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

This is diverging off of the topic. Put a pressure sensor on the intake and measure boost directly with revving in neutral. You won't build any boost. Turbo will spin at a lower rpm, yes, but it won't boost. The sentence in front of your icon does not convey to me what you say it does to...
  33. kjlinwi

2G Oil burning exhaust NOT the turbo

You confuse turn off boost with spinning. Boost can indeed be turned off in link. It has the aftermarket waste gate solenoid that is duty cycled to allow it to create boost (or not). If the waste gate stays open, there is no boost. This happens all the time. Rev your car up in neutral as...

2G Lots of Oil in Exhaust Manifold

late update but an fyi that may help others. An O2 sensor will never cause a stumble or stall at full throttle. At full throttle the ecm no longer uses the 02 sensor for fuel control. The system instead runs off of the internal fuel control maps in the ecm/pcm and dumps extra fuel according...

    1G 4g63 WOT timing?

Back to the basics. Do you know what your engine vacuum is while the engine is running at idle? If I were to guess, I would guess that your car accelerates very poorly off of idle and builds up speed after the rpms come up.My guess is that you are off one tooth on a camshaft. You can't be...
