Replace your rusty fog light brackets, that are probably falling apart in your 2G right now with these new ones!
3D Printed out of ASA (heat/chemical/UV - resistant) with metal sleeves pressed in to gain more strength.

Get rid of your old and rusty radiator brackets and replace it with these new billet aluminium ones.

There are hardly any talons over here so I'm not able to compare the bumpers.
But by the look of it, there's no huge difference between the opening on those 2 bumpers.
But you're right, thats the only reason for using a stud/nut combo on these cars.
The stud acts as a guide like you already said. Not because there isn't much room, but rather because it makes it easier to align the gasket between the 2 flanges correctly, like on the head/exhaust manifold...
